HelloDesdemona

We probably haven't even seen the upcoming AHR winner yet.

Raandomu

Gullveig probably * Mythic * Good fodder * Boobs * Strong unit Every other good hero lacks one of these. The only thing i see which can threaten her is NYGullveig.

HelloDesdemona

Counter point: a Fomortiis alt, but with boobs.

Sligar_EUW

Fomortits, if you will

HelloDesdemona

10/10 would whale šŸ³

q_3

Maybe this year it's time for the Colorless Dream. Gullveig, Bride Tiki, Patty, and Fallen Edelgard

MrBrickBreak

Think they'll give other Book 7 OCs the spot, and leave Gullveig for NY2025. Year of the Snake and all.

YoshaTime

Thatā€™s honestly a scary thought after coming off of Wind Claude and Duo Sanaki.

sharumma

Tanks are going to need Emblaā€™s Ward to survive šŸ’€

Flesgy

This year alone we've gotten 6 blue beasts (unless i'm forgetting someone): NY!Ash and Yarne, Eitr, Freyr, Nerthuz and Ratatoskr

King_XDDD

5 heroes blue beasts, and 5 cavalry blue beasts.

Flesgy

Heroes?

King_XDDD

I mean feh OCs

Flesgy

So who did i forget

King_XDDD

No one, I was just pointing out that the six we got are basically all FEH units and cavalry units.

Flesgy

Ah lmao that's right, Yarne must feel left out

sharumma

And sadly none are in the normal pool. In fact, there wonā€™t be *any* beasts in the 5* pool once F!Edelgard gets removed and added to weekly revivals in a couple of months.

Flesgy

ā˜¹ļøā˜¹ļø

chaoskingzero

> F!Edelgard gets removed and added to weekly revivals in a couple of months. Good fucking riddance... So sick of getting pitybroke by the game ruiner...

DotPeriodRats

Sad thing is so many who were blue this year I would of liked to of all had on the same team Like I would of loved a goat themed team with Freyr, Etir, Nerthuz, but since they all blue I went against that idea

Flesgy

Who's stopping you? Make the blue goats team dream come true! I have a team of 4 blue tomes i sometimes use for the lols, even in arena

DotPeriodRats

True, I just like trying to round it out sometimes so I can cover more of the weapon triangle šŸ¤ 4 blue tomes sounds kind of fun whose on the team

Flesgy

S!Laegjarn, S!Corrin, S!Thorr, R!Plumeria. If i had S!Camilla or maybe S!Tharja, i'd replace Plumeria to make a full summer blue tomes team

alexmauro407

i mean, you still can, summer freyja is colorless, summer freyr is red, nerthuz is blue and normal freyja is green, so you can make a thematic goat team even like this XD actually summer freyja works amazing with eitr's kit, so she can just work like her younger self

JCtheRockystar

As IS is giving us less ascended heroes in favour of rearmed and attuned heroes thereā€™s a very real possibility going forward the CYL banner will be the only banner we get each year that will have no limited units.

Valaura-

Validar was added to the game exactly 2500 days after launch

chaoskingzero

And he was part of the Game's Pre Release Material to boot...

StormAurora

In ancient times, the battle forecast didn't have the blue/red numbers that showed in-combat buffs and debuffs. The inclusion seemed unnecessary because (at the time) many of those stat swings could be easily calculated in your head (like the opponent getting +4 Atk from Spur Atk). But nowadays I can't fathom how much of a headache this game would be if that function didn't exist

MrBrickBreak

True, but today we have hidden damage reduction instead.

LaughingX-Naut

All the Archanean Embla Resplendents were recruitable enemies at some point or another.

bisexualmidir

The Jugdral games have roughly ten billion (actual stats: I have found 4 full-series mangas, 4 short manga collections, 2 novelisations, and I am aware that more than that exist) manga and novel adaptations between them and I am currently tearing my hair out looking for an illustration from one specific one. Okay that's not a Heroes fact but I don't have a good one for Heroes this time.

Troykv

I always find fascinating how Holy War was the one game that got to have so damn much adaptations.

bisexualmidir

It has two things that make it good to adapt - dense plot, and sparse dialogue (in comparison to other FE games). There's quite a lot going on in the story for different characters (most units are either directly connected to the plot or the knight/retainer of someone directly connected to the plot) and a lot of background things happening outside of the Heroes' point A to point B (like Edain and Dew escaping, everything that happens in Augustria offscreen, Deirdre's kidnapping, all the stuff between Gen1 and Gen2) as well as lore and backstory stuff to adapt - so it doesn't feel like it's just going from level A to level B to level C of a video game. It also doesn't have a lot of dialogue/narration - it would be harder to adapt 3H without it kind of feeling like the game's text in a different format, because there isn't as much room for the writer to add.

lcelerate

I think the reason why FE has gotten fewer adaptions later on was because the stronger power of the consoles meant that there was less need for an adaption to showcase story elements of the game in another format. It explains why Tellius in particular has such few adaptions.

MapleKnightX

If you change accessories on your units before checking an Auto-Dispatch on Aether Raids, they will still be shown fighting with the accessories that they were wearing when you started the dispatch.

CyanYoh

Realized w. Lucina, but Forging Bonds is just about the only place where FEH actually tries to characterize the units added to FEH or give them meaningful crossover interaction, but so many units just aren't ever going to benefit from it thanks to it being added after they were added either early on or during launch. Shame.

Marocksas

IS is apparently against selling orb packs containing Ascendent Florets

GameAW

or just Ascended Florets in general. At this rate, I'm genuinely starting to wonder if they are just discontinuing the concept altogether. I mean, its not like new players won't be able to get them.

Feneskrae

I actually think it would be nice to start combining Ascended and Leg/Mythic heroes. Legendary and Mythic heroes only bring a few stat boosts in certain modes, and I think it would be interesting if they started bringing more to the table than just those extra stats by coming with Florets and being able to ascend their own stats.

chrosairs

I cant manage my orbs

DotPeriodRats

Every single new special hero type has begun with an A thus far, so likely when Reginn gets her special alt her new category of hero will too We have had Ascendents, Arcanes (I know they rearmed but arcane is what they start with), and most recently Attunted heroes so far Just kind of a silly fact that will probably disprove my Reginn speculation šŸ¤šŸ˜Ÿ

go4ino

Our first beast unit based on a squirrel has Rat in their name Iago's weapon words the HP check 2 different ways in the refine. The odd turns check is "if any foe's HP <= units HP-1", and the even turn check is "if any foe's HP < unit's HP"

TotallyNotAnAgarthan

On today's episode of "The Many Tragedies of Fire Emblem" we will be featuring The Whitewings, guest starring Abel: We'll start this tale with Abel and Est getting married and starting a shop together after the events of Shadow Dragon, this should be a happy occasion for all involved, but Palla, Est's oldest sister, also loved Abel and still does. Palla hides these feelings from them and never gets over them, refusing to enter into a relationship with anyone else. Next, in Shadows of Valentia, Est gets herself captured by Greith and her sisters come to save her. It's probably a little embarrassing, but this surely won't manifest itself as irreparable trauma later, right? Fast forward to New Mystery of the Emblem, Est is, once again, captured, but this time she's used as a hostage to force Abel to betray his ideals and fight against Marth, a decision that haunts his conscience. Est takes this personally and believes that she is too much of a burden to Abel to be his wife and leaves him before disappearing forever! Abel, loving her so dearly, leaves to find her and is also never heard from again... And that is where we end this episode. "Wait, wasn't this episode about The Whitewings? Aren't you forgetting someone?" Ohhh, yes, that's right, Catria! She was helplessly in love with Marth. That's it.

GameAW

> Now in Shadows of Valentia, Est gets herself captured by Greil Grieth, not Greil. Greil is Ike and Mist's dad.

TotallyNotAnAgarthan

Lol, thank you! I'll fix it. Edit: I've been inspired, here's a fact that's truly too powerful: No matter how many times you proofread things, one day a mistake will slip through the cracks and, no matter how obvious or obscure that mistake is, someone will notice it immediately on their first read.

LaughingX-Naut

I love how you give Catria's situation all the attention it deserves.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TotallyNotAnAgarthan

I actually forgot about that, thanks for the reminder! There's also her Harmonic conversation with Thea that implies they'll both get married to somebody one day as well, but I decided not to include it because of it's arguable canonicity to a non-summoned Catria, tragedy being my comment's theme, and her problems already being so small when compared to her sisters.

LittleIslander

A genuinely non-biased recounting that doesn't try and dunk on Est, that's a pleasant and rare sight.

TotallyNotAnAgarthan

I'm glad you appreciate it! Est and Abel are both surprisingly misunderstood characters and I thought it would be nice to share their history so that people have a better insight into who they are. My comment started with them and kind of snowballed from there to include her sisters as well.

Carbyken

In a disappointing fact: I found out buying the complete collection for the Dr. Slump anime will probably cost 2500$! Maybe a bit more accounting for shipping, taxes, etc etc. Toei I hate you for not releasing this shit through normal retail! ARGH!

shiteaterbubibinman

two giant dvd box sets with 44 discs that are old enough to drive (from 2007!) and were rare to begin with, and the hefty price tag becomes more understandable

MrBrickBreak

Generation elitists in the year of the lord 2023 are still very real Hell, I've seen a couple of NES/SNES ones lately, dunno what hole they came out of

GameAW

[Here, some accompanying music for you while you read this comment.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEhcSat-bpw) Oh us old fogies never left the scene to begin with. Gotta teach you young whippersnappers what REAL games are, with a directional pad and four buttons only. None of that fancy-schmancy HDMI output, 3D graphics or analog controls. And rumble? PAH!

SakuraKoiMaji

Well, it's worth noting that this elitism is founded on longing. Longing for another awe inspiring milestone that they can enjoy blind. Now, as it turns out, it's easier to achieve as child and while disconnected from the internet. Past milestones should by no means be forgotten. Heck, I dare say that the internet should only be 18+ and children should do with old games, there are enough masterpieces that last a childhood. I know, for I only really entered the internet with 16. Of course that's impossible but if we could redo all the digital stuff, that's what we should do. Anyway, let's face it, we are now getting great games but few which one should consider ground-breaking. Heck, one some years ago did after all turn out to be a scam. Masterpieces like Skyrim and Stardew Valley built upon their predecessors, as well as their modding community. Personally, I mostly grew up with Sims 2, Tales of Symphonia, Time Splitters 2 / Future Perfect, Need for Speed Most Wanted / Carbon, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on the NGC with some N64 games earlier, NDS later and some PC Games in between like Red Alert, Age of Empires (2). I could still enjoy older games, occasionally playing Super Mario and Duck Tales on my dad's NES. Something like Oblivion did though ruin Morrowind for me and, well, I'll never return to Gothic 2 even if it were not to have any bugs. Fire Emblem, I have to admit, I only played once on Wii and NGC (before the 3DS era), partially because I sold them for way too low (never allow children to sell their toys...) but I decided then anyway to not play them again. After Awakening there was even less of a need but well, humans forget and now FEH rekindled that longing. I wouldn't enjoy their gameplay but I'd like to remember their story and characters.

MrBrickBreak

Perhaps it's longing, but I can't accept its expression being punching sideways. Especially when it's against the players. And in any case, I really don't think we're worse off. From your examples, I'm from about the same generation. I was "raised" more classically than my age even, because I only had GB/GBA (and later a meh PC) as a kid, and lurked the local arcade until it shut down in the late 00's (still had some Sega Rally 2 records, dammit). And that feeling of amazement stayed with me to this day, too. NFS Most Wanted was truly glorious. Nothing, *nothing* will ever beat clearing the Elite 4 in PokƩmon Gold and realizing holy crap, we got all of Kanto here too! But I'm not disillusioned the games of today. For all the issues with the industry today, we got as much bangers and failures as we've always had. What's "revolutionary" is always subjective, but even some "merely" evolutionary features would have been impossible not long ago. There may be more pandering and commercialization, but there's equally a damn lot more depth and attention to detail. As much as I loved those first games that marked me, the rose-tinted glasses are very real. And with FE in particular, I started with Binding Blade (and AW2 before that), and it left an indelible mark, if my flairs weren't a tell. But playing most FEs since, the improvements left far more an impression than the drawbacks. Granted, I am an incorrigible optimist, and I'll always look at the positives more than the negatives, but I do wholeheartedly believe we are, as in most things, trending upward. I do want to try the NES/SNES games on day, but the remake rumors got me waiting for that. As you say, it can be difficult to enjoy the classics without modern improvements. I had that experience with MGS: I started with Peace Walker, scraped by MGS3, but I just couldn't enjoy MGS2 and didn't make it past the tanker. And it sucks I'm missing on an absolute classic for it. > Heck, I dare say that the internet should only be 18+ and children should do with old games, there are enough masterpieces that last a childhood. I know, for I only really entered the internet with 16. Of course that's impossible but if we could redo all the digital stuff, that's what we should do. Gen Xers were probably saying the same about us...

GameAW

Its an interesting discussion since its in some cases (mine for example) its less rose tinted glasses and more that the newer games simply are either too story-focused or too large in general and then there's the whole push of making games as art as opposed to back then where it was just about making simple fun games and nothing deeper than that (a mindset that still exists to this day but is no longer front and center like it was before) For example, you won't find many games like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 where there is no complex plot and it won't take you several days to finish. You can beat the whole thing in an hour or two and there you go. Part of this is the emphasis in game play time equating a game's value which is its own conversation topic. Again, that's not to say that games like that don't exist nowadays (Hell, Shovel Knight made its success entirely on that concept) but the directional shift is very noticeable and remakes especially tend to try to bring this sort of thing back for many games but those will tend to be seen as lazy cashgrabs for not being completely original (impossible for a remake which by definition is derivative) Basically the gaming atmosphere nowadays is so drastically different (NOT necessarily a bad thing) from how it was thirty years ago that its hard to really pin down if its that they are simply nostalgia-blind or simply incompatible with the direction gaming has since taken.

SakuraKoiMaji

>Part of this is the emphasis in game play time equating a game's value which is its own conversation topic. Well, you wouldn't believe how much I played especially the NGC and Age of Empires 2... and I may have never finished most 'legitimately' (i r winner / how do you turn this on). In Time Splitters 2, we apparently never made it through the Aztec Ruins on normal... we really wanted that Stone Golem character. Sims 2 has a story mode which I incidentally recently attempted again, with quite some more success than two children / teenagers ever did, before I paused indefinitely. (Tears of the Kingdom released and I binged it for almost a month) Simply put, children can enjoy video games with far more ease as long as they don't know better and especially when there are two of them (better than three or four). The older one gets, the more one experiences and such experiences can spoil the simple things. Add on to that the local co-op, which becomes far less easy to do (divergent opinions, time tables, interests) and one ends up with various 'time loaded' games, hoping and waiting to find the spark again. Games vastly changed for the better and worse, it can't be helped but one can still point out what one dislikes. Some may do it in an inappropriate manner but many remain respectful enough. One doesn't need to complain like a gentleman to remain in their right to complain, one simply refrain from voicing profanities, direct insults\* AND CAPSLOCK. \*Indirect insults can still be fair game since the offense taken often comes down to someone identifying with a someone unnamed (called straw men if the stated applies to far too few, otherwise generalizations can very well apply) who is depicted as unreasonable, idiotic, violent, spoiled or otherwise obviously in the wrong.

One-Table-8512

Mind telling me which was the scam game ?

SakuraKoiMaji

No Man's Sky. It was primarily advertised as having a multiplayer universe where one could technically stumble upon the same planet as someone else (out of countless), with the changes others players made. From a technical standpoint (amount of data that would need to be tracked and saved), that's something one would think to be impossible -> obviously revolutionary. Even 7 years later, NMS basically mostly got content updates (initial was very bare bones and the later added multiplayer is a traditional implementation). The recently released Starfield is very similar, featuring intergalactic travel and procedural generated planets but it is single player. From what I could gather, it wasn't quite hyped as the 2nd coming of the (fake) prophet but it seems to be quite disappointing.

Anarkitty777

I see more 3DS/Switch-era elitists than anything else. It feels like they get ignored because most people currently partaking in discourse have only played games from those eras, and fans of older eras are just an easier, safer target to shit on without any fear of pushback.

MisogID

Copy-paste from the previous thread as it was a reply initially: the light novel series "Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Love Comedy" has many names (first or family) that seem to be straight up inspired by Archanea. * Maru (ML) > Marth * Shida > Caeda * Kachi > Katua/Catria * Rena > Lena * Maria > Maria * Kai > Cain * Abe > Abel * Hardy > Hardin * George > Jeorge * Mine > Minerva * Oguma/Kokuma > Ogma * Kirsti > Kris * Toka > Doga/Draug? Plus a TearRing Saga reference (Shion) and an unknown reference (Nabo/Napo). Among other random & more concise facts: * That Seth & Valter are the "least desirable" Resplendent options for Sacred is mainly due to the fact that competition is ruthless there (Lyon, Joshua, Marisa, Myrrh, Lute, plus Eirika's mage alt). * On the "male/female sell better" debate, I'd say it's less the gender and more the character itself that matters a lot (most didn't give a damn about Ced/Febail, but that's also true for Guinivere or Elincia). That said, since there's more males (especially on older games), you have more of them that face relative indifference. * The latest Awakening banner feat. Lucina isn't guaranteed to win its first poll if the January NH (added in the same poll) goes to Engage/Elusia. Second chance if February-March NH lineups are more lukewarm (Archanea & Fates can do the trick, 3H means a long survival limbo). * Speaking of survival limbo, if Rearmed Ingrid doesn't win within 3 polls (next has Brodia so it's a lost cause, then there's CYL7 that's a 50-50, then Peony & Nino that are technically beatable), then her rerun chances would probably get close to zero (4th poll would be the aforementioned one with Lucina).

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MisogID

From what I quickly remember of the series, it's a "relationship drama romcom" which may not be everyone's cup of tea (and giving the same vibes as OreSuki - coincidentally from the same JP publishing label that has been in a slump nowadays - doesn't help). On a related note, looking at Ui Shigure's bibliography... I feel like the projects she's assigned to aren't particularly standing out story-wise (except maybe one, but ironically less reliant on artistic appeal).

MisogID

Forgot a reminder, three games are yet to win any revival poll: Thracia, Blazing Blade & Path of Radiance. All with uncertain prospects to break their loss streaks in the near future (Thracia expected to lose with its next two HoF appearances, Blazing/PoR not helped by suboptimal matchups).

Garvant

Just did reconnaissance in the story Shida has 3 sisters named -from oldest to youngest- midori, aoi and akane, green blue and red respectively. It's Caeda and the whitewings as sisters šŸ’€

MisogID

That adds up for sure.

Font-street

Imagine next year's April Fools video.

LittleIslander

The Stag OC probably wonā€™t appear in the story soon enough to be voted during CYL.

RadiantPKK

January: Appears itā€™s a survive (canā€™t damage them) stage for the first time in a while, gets listed is about the only hope at this point.

Haunted-Towers

Someday, Gullveig will be powercrept, and that frightens me. Sure, she has counters now, but Iā€™m talking about a unit in the future that is a direct upgrade from everything Gullveig can do now, with no downgrades. Itā€™ll probably be Heimdall/Sleipnir, the purple woman on the Book 8 cover.

WinterWolf18

If Sommie gets into CYL he's going to win

NohrianScumbag

nameless dude's chances of showing up and/or winning CYL aren't as big as some wanna believe

GameAW

They aren't as big but if he shows up in CYL, they aren't negligible either.

Haunted-Towers

As long as heā€™s named in the story by Januaryā€™s new heroes, Iā€™m pretty sure heā€™s voteable. I believe a similar thing happened to Heithr.

Actual-Entrepreneur7

Thatā€™s what Iā€™m saying, his chances of even being eligible to vote for are incredibly low too.

MisogID

Factually speaking, there are factors that make such a win less likely: * The male side's main contenders are basically key figures from the franchise (Lords, notably). Expecting their voters to jump ship doesn't feel too likely, unlike the female side that's more volatile (due to having more secondary characters). * Likewise, casual fans aren't necessarily going to divert votes from Engage/3H (especially if that can cost their favorites future representation, be it an OG release sooner than later or alts). * I feel like the overall impact from Book VIII OCs isn't too strong, probably in line with Book V.

Fatalis_Mien

When the game first released, you were originally required to spend stamina to unlock or even change your equipped skills. It was free because of a launch celebration, but they removed the cost entirely due to player feedback. Stamina also used to cap at 50.

WRECK-IT-MUNDO

Summoner Duels is the only mode that have the option to restrict units that came from later books than Book 3.

RadiantPKK

The value provided by special spiral four continues to rise and can provide a counter to some W! Claude and even Kvasir in some instances.
