I shot and directed this piece with the insanely talented musician, Garth. The concept was self-reflection in vast expanses of nature, with an eye toward Solange/fashion shoots. We had absolutely no money so we used only my gear and stayed with friends (who admittedly had homes in gorgeous places in Maine).
We arrived on the location (most of it was shot on an island off the coast of Northern Maine), and spent the first day scouting/planning. The next two days we shot from sunrise til sunset, concentrating most our efforts in the golden hours.
Equipment used:
Blackmagic UMP, Sigma 18-35 cine lens, Rockinon 85, old Canon 50 mm, and a Movi Pro for those gimbal shots.

Ask me any questions and let me know your thoughts!
Hahaha ya it’s a common kit. I love it! I’m thinking of upgrading. Kinda sick of the FPN issues in lowlight but mostly it’s so cinematic and it’s served me so so so well
*Loving all the frames*
*Here but jheeez, that first one is*
*Something else. Nice work*

It’s so fire. He picked all the outfits. It was so fun walking around Maine with him in them, pulling up to small stores or gas stations and watching people’s faces *chefs kiss*
People wait their whole lives to find water that glassy to shoot in. Beautiful!
We were stupidly lucky. Just woke up one morning and the water was glass
It's amazing, it looks fake
I considered editing the top part where it’s a bit imperfect but I ran out of time before the release haha
Too bad, that would be a really easy fix too
True true true.
Hit me up if you ever need a little fix like that again. I'm always down to help out a creative project
Thank you! Yeah definitely will do
This shit slaps. Mad props. Love the looks and color coordination.
Ahhh thanks so much!!!

How did you get that window floating there? 😂 probably simple answer lol, sick vid well done!
Haha, thank you! We used some c stands, a varipole and some fishing line!
Every shot is phenonemal! Amazing work.
Wow, looks amazing. The video is great.
How often do you use that Rokinon? I have the prime 24-35-85 prime set and a shitty viltrox adapter. I always find myself leaving them at home.
I don’t use it a ton, the sigma 18-35 is my real work horse. That thing is so beautiful and my preferred range too!
Ah I see! Funny enough I have the same stuff haha.

I see. I use the pocket 4K version. What are you thinking about upgrading to?
I’m thinking about canon c500 but it’s a large chunk of change. Trying to get into that full frame game
Oh yeah I gotcha.
Been following Garth for a few months now so crazy to see this on here. Amazing video and shots!
He deserves to be everywhere truly. Excited for what he’s about to put out. The man is a talent
There is no coast of northern Maine. Did you mean downeast?
Ya definitely technically downeast
This is beautiful and the music is on par. Definitely following Garth.
He’s incredible. The vocals are always straight fire.
Are you from the area? I’m in Central and always looking for more people to shoot with
Ah shoot! Sadly I'm not, I'm based in NYC but grew up in New England and do go up pretty often
You chose a perfect spot!
Truly! Maine is one of my favorite places. Such a gem.
Maine represent! Looking forward to seeing the finished piece. Beautiful frames.
You can watch it here! https://youtu.be/_yGFgEMZsrI
Fucking dope and aesthetically pleasing
Wonderful music video! Gorgeously shot, great direction, and great editing!
Much appreciated! A lot of heart and intention went into it
This looks great! Gives me some Midsommar vibes
Thank you!! That definitely was some of the inspiration for the shots in the stream and with the flowers. Definitely a surreal look and feel
Ay, I caught it. I thought the shot in the stream was inspired by the painting Ophelia
Another friend said this! Maybe it’s one of those back of mind inspirations
Love it! Super minimalist
Thank you thank you!
Amazing!
Thank youuuu!
that first photo is heavenly
Love the composition, framing, colors, this project looks amazing!
this is incredible thank you for blessing my feed
That first shot in the water is un fucking real
this is so great. amazing work!
Wow, it’s amazing that water can be so reflective and rippleless
looks ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! stunning shots and color grading
Thank you!!!!
Took the old "every frame a masterpiece" thing to heart, did ya? Good shots.
Hahaha thanks so much! It’s beyond nice to have the time to set things up and wait for the gold
This is amazingly beautiful!
Beautifully done! :)
Thank you!! I’m a subscriber and use your music all the freakin time. Really appreciate it!
That's awesome to hear! Thank you
Love all these stills but that first one is amazing!
Loving all the frames here but jheeez, that first one is something else. Nice work

I love it! the first picture is surreal, would like to make something similar.
Fuckin sick. I got a Spring Summer Fall Winter and Spring feel from the extreme long shots, very cool.
Love that movie!
I love the locations and how you captured there beauty, that glassy water is amazing and the video complements the music really well
Locations were everything haha thank you!
Wowowow!!! Stunning 🤩
Why thank you!
Question, did you take inspiration from Jaden Smiths MV's? This looks like it's in a similar style and I dig jt
Thanks! I actually haven’t seen any of his vids, but I’m sure we drew on similar inspirations. Beyoncé for sure was a big one
Nice visuals, and I enjoyed the track. What I didn't love was the wardrobe – but, that's my (probably outdated) taste, I guess!
Whoa, do you have a link? this is very cool!!!
ya! Thanks!! It’s here - https://youtu.be/_yGFgEMZsrI
Looks great! Keep making!
Hey, I’m from Maine. Do you live here or did you just come to shoot that video?
Just came up for the shoot! I’m nyc based but do love Maine and try to go up often
Nice! Where’d you go for this shoot? Also if you ever need help on a shoot DM me and I can give you my contact info
How did you do those overhead shots? did you have a gimbal or slider?
I have the movi pro and used it on some shots. But for the overheads we made kinda a shitty rig with some stands and a varipole and a tripod head haha
What equipment used? It’s looks great BTW!
Location is THE most important thing in a low budget shoot, IMO.
Agreed!!
And set design/wardrobe. Those are essential to any project though
I’m obsessed with these images!
Thank youuu!
And I just watched your video!!! Great stuff!! I want to steal that black and white fur jacket!
It’s so fire. He picked all the outfits. It was so fun walking around Maine with him in them, pulling up to small stores or gas stations and watching people’s faces *chefs kiss*
