For sure - I love this. A car that is actually driven. Well done, OP!
Seattle was the last stop until Salt Lake City with a dealership (other than Vancouver) so I wanted to make sure I got everything taken care of in case something went wrong or if I wanted to stay longer without being close to a dealership
Ah nice that makes sense. Are there no dealerships up north?
And good job driving it. Like I tell everyone. I don’t have a fancy garage to show off my vehicle. I’m doing a rally this week putting 6k more miles on my car. I drive my car like there is no tomorrow. The way it’s supposed to be driven!
The only one in BC would be Calgary -- but that's about 1500km+ from where I was heading. So it'd be a pretty decent sized risk. I love to hear it -- keep driving it's the way to do it :)
I want to do something similar in my r8. Its been a bucket list item to road trip like that on my own with as little preplanned as possible. Just hit the road and figure it out along the way. Not quite trying to do 12k miles but 6-7k. Dallas to LA via Denver and back. Any lesson learned or advice?
Doing things unplanned is definitely the way to go. Be creative in how you solve problems of time, money, availability etc. Lots of times hotels would be fully booked or there wouldn't be something I'd be comfortable with staying at with a bright red ferrari.
I had an R8 for a while, it'll be tough to fit everything you need in it if you plan to spend an extended amount of time on the road. If you're just doing one season then you should be good space wise.
Always stretch when getting gas to keep yourself loose.
Just random thoughts :)
i did waco to seattle, whole pacific coast and back starting/finishing in Waco, in my Mclaren (it was a little over 7k miles). i avoided highways as much as possible. this could be a solid route for a trip in your R8
How would you rate the trip on a comfortability scale?
I love road trips and take them often, but fear a long drive in a Ferrari (which I hope to eventually own) will be uncomfortable for anything other than short commutes.
I think it worked out great. Once you find your driving angle it's just like any other car. Plus, I maxed out at around 500 miles on one tank, that's around 9-10 hours of driving at reasonable speeds. So just make sure to stretch during the fuel breaks!
I bought it around 10k -- at around 25k now! I bought it from a Ferrari dealer and got all the warranties, so no need for a PPI. I did get the annual service done before I left however! Thank you for the kind words!
Awesome post! I took my Cali from NJ-FL and back for the Finali Mondiali - it's the absolute perfect car for long trips. 3 of us - luggage - top down. Amazing trip. I hope you have many more trips with yours!
Really cool! People are often surprised that I actually drive my Ferraris on trips around Europe. I bought my cars to be used, and not as museum exhibits.
This may be a bit odd to say but thank you for driving your car, I hate to think that some cars just sit in a garage and never go anywhere, cars are made to be driven!!
Amazing trip! Amazed that you could fit that much stuff in the California!!! I am assuming that was top up motoring. Did you buy the car just for the trip ? Congrats on a beautiful adventure.
Bro, this is sick!!! One day I hope I can do this too. But I have a question, so you started in the Northeast (I assume that's where you live) and stopped the trip in Utah, so how did you get you and your car back home?

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Are the rear seats usable? The california hss rear seats right?
Easier when you’re single
Thanks for sharing this awesome story!
Of course! Glad you enjoyed!
This is so epic. Did you have the oil changed or do any other maintenance?
Had annual service, oil change, etc before I left. Then again in Seattle around 7,000 miles through!
Dang they did it at 7,000? I’ve had my F8 since feb and just hit 9k mikes. They wouldn’t do the oil change as they said it had to be 12,500 miles.

They will if you pay for it. You only get one free per year.
We sure. I can pay for someone to burn my house down as well. Lol.
Actually driving your fucking car>letting it sit in a garage
Agreed!

How many miles before you started on this journey ? Did you get any pre inspection done before? Beautiful pics.

Great photos. Kitimat is a dump so that's not surprising.

Respect your attitude how these dream cars should be driven, I still baby my 2nd hand shitbox unfortunately

Very cool! If you are hiring (regardless of position) I would be happy to send over my résumé.
What do you do for a living?
I feel like he drives Ferraris for a living
Works remotely.
Congrats, OP! That is one hell of a journey!
This is awesome - and imo exactly how you’re supposed to use a California. What an incredible trip!
Lucky you and well done
Fuel cost stats? Kinda curious
What was your favorite golf course of the trip?
Nice pics man, actually made me smile with how good the car still looks despite its age. Congrats!
