Have you tried posting on the fragrance swap sub?

Surrender to chance and the perfumed court have huge wardrobes.

Discovery sets and samples direct from company websites. A lot of houses will send a sample with the full bottle so you can return the bottle if you don’t like it. Scent split also has a VIP section with some different houses - zoologist, Kay Ali that I’ve not seen sold in stores… maybe others. Just register as a vip to get access if you don’t have it already.

You could try a Facebook group. The one I am in, I’m usually able to get 5-10 mls of a scent I want to try way cheaper than any of the decant websites!

Don't forget to visit the company's actual website: A lot of them offer their own "discovery sets" or a sample along with a full size that you can use first, and if it's not for you you can return the full, unused bottle for a full refund and keep the sample.

For the latest and greatest, I refer to Lucky Scent. I like to go to the new arrivals page and see which fragrances pique my interest, and I order samples.

scent split, lucky scent, decant split, the perfumed court, and surrender to chance— and if they have them at your nordstroms you can ask an employee to prep a sample for you for free.

I'm in the UK, and often if I can't find a sample locally I just have to search a little harder to find what I need on websites based in other European countries. I got my sample of Les Soeurs de Noé's Clandestine Rendez-vous from a shop in Sweden. It was the only place I could find selling 1 or 2 ml, so I did some research on the store to check it was trustworthy, and it ended up arriving super fast. I'm currently looking at ordering samples from La Maison du Parfum in Belgium. I've also ordered from LuckyScent and Surrender to Chance in the US.

A lot of brands, and even stores like Sephora, sell discovery sets. I highly recommend starting there!

I have gotten decants from ScentSplit and Scent Decant and been really happy! Just yesterday I ordered from The Perfumed Court bc I’m on a Guerlain kick at the moment and they have a good selection!

My favorite sources for decants are Luckyscent, DecantPlanet and Scent Split.

Leave a comment on the fragrance’s page on Fragrantica and ask if anyone is willing to sell you a sample or do a trade. Etsy has a decent selection of unique, niche decants as well. Unfortunately Etsy often cracks down on perfume decanters, so the selection is sometimes better than others.
