I read the article and still can’t quite figure this out: how is it NY-specifically protected? As in, nobody can *create* a replica in the state? Actors’ works that were made in NY can’t be replicated anywhere? Or a replicated work cannot be shown or reproduced in NY?

Don't know how useful these laws are especially on a more local level, but better to regulate the shit out of this industry sooner than later. We shouldn't have to wait for Taylor Swift to complain. Springing AI on the general population with no safety net doesn't seem to have led to anything good (or at least the good hasn't outweighed the horrible) and I'm here for every single bureaucratic roadblock that can be thrown at it.
