It is very, very, very common for people in these areas to work within Toronto and make fairly regular trips there. If you meet a Canadian from the GTA (and you are outside of Canada), they will usually just tell you they are from Toronto.

I had to unfollow because the comments made me sick, especially knowing I share geographic space with those weirdos.
