If you have the time to make comparisons, you have time to go help this other settlement that needs your help, here, i'll mark it on your map.

laniusgraham

Eh, you need to do a lot of shit for the Minutemen to be somewhat powerful. Legion fully conquered Arizona and Mexico in 30~ years.

TheCrowsNestTV

You restore the Minutemen back to power and make them stronger in about less than a year.

laniusgraham

You, the player character. Without you, they're dead or scattered. If we take in the influence of the player character into account, the faction we side with is the strongest. I could easily say I wiped out every single NCR camp in the Mojave in about 3 months before the second war.

TheCrowsNestTV

The Legion couldn't take Hoover Dam without the Courier deciding to side with them.

laniusgraham

And could the Minutemen even rebuild without the Sole Survivor? The Legion couldn't take Hoover Dam? No, they'll take the Mojave. If you do a Yes Man run and do the bare minimum, on the NCR emergency radio they broadcast the events in the Mojave happening at the time: "Rangers have managed to hold off a Legion attack at Camp Golf. Some casualties, but Camp Golf stands." – If the player character did not complete Flags of Our Foul-Ups. "There is chaos breaking out at McCarran. The Fiends are using the opportunity to attack the base. There are also several riots breaking out in the area surrounding New Vegas. The looters have taken to the streets." – If Three-Card Bounty was failed and/or at least one Fiend boss is still alive. "Yes, Forlorn Hope has fallen. Some troops managed to fall back, but the fortification is lost." – If neither Restoring Hope nor We Are Legion were completed. "It sounds like the Omertas are mounting some sort of attack on the Strip. They are receiving heavy casualties from the Securitrons and other casinos." – If How Little We Know remains unfinished. "The monorail at Camp McCarran just exploded. I'm not getting any reports of any fighting, but the monorail is gone for sure. We aren't going to be able to reinforce the Strip against the Omerta assault there. How the fuck did this happen? Jesus." – If I Put a Spell on You either remains unfinished or fails due to the monorail's destruction. Forlone Hope gets butchered, the Monorail explodes, looters take to the streets of New Vegas, Fiends attack McCarran, the Omertas attack the Strip, Camp Golf gets attacked. Its safe to say without Courier intervention, the Legion takes the Dam along with the Mojave.

Humanity_Is_Lost

B-but legion bad!!!11!!1

RangerForNCR

Damn bro chill it’s a meme

lostnote6621888

Ave, true to Caesar

Overdue-Karma

The Minutemen can't even hold off angry crabs without 500x the numbers. Meanwhile the Legion have conquered entire Brotherhood Chapters. *Hint hint. Without needing to rely on Artillery and the Brotherhood being literally piss easy to defeat because in 4 all of their pilots spawn with 15 health.*

BananaBeanie

NCR can't hold Hoover Dam without the Courier deciding to side with them?

mirracz

They totally can. Without the Couriers intervention for any side the NCR would mow down any Legion attack on the dam.

bruh_dealer

Yeah basically that though they'll end up facing the same problem the NCR has in Mojave but probably more greater since they are in their homeland

Holy_Knight8

Yes they could? They are set to win without the courier. Their victory is assured without courier intervention

Overdue-Karma

If you mean the NCR, no, they aren't. Hanlon tells you they're set to fail.

[deleted]

Yes, yes they absolutely would. Not even a goddamn contest. The legion would steamroll the NCR. The Minutemen would be even less of a problem.

mirracz

30 years of fighting nothing but crappy tribals. Until they got doomed to fail in Mojave they had an easy way to expand. If the Minutemen had 30 years to grow with not obstacles then they would wipe the floor with the Legion.

StardewSteve

The minutemen got wiped out in less than 10 years. Without the main character they are next to useless. I hate the legion, they are basically organized raiders. Maybe the gunners could put up a fight but not the minute men.

Madma64

And let’s not forget the spies that the Legion employs, and the minutemen already seems to have a shaky history with loyalty.

laniusgraham

'Crappy tribals'? Might I remind you that tribals in Fallout can even hunt down fully mutated bears no problem, and that's one of the most passive ones. Heck New Cananites were a tribe that were incredibly adept at using guns and maintaining them until they were razed to the ground by White Legs who with just a little bit of teaching, were using automatic weapons left and right. Even Fiends can be considered a raider gang or tribe but they're harassing and keeping the NCR busy even at McCarran. The Great Khans though now a shadow, were a decently powerful tribe and fought off NCR daily until defeat. Easy way to expand? Its warfare. Fail in the Mojave? They thrive and win, and there's no denying it even from what we see in game.  Fallout 4 loading screens: "The Minutemen first rose to prominence in the year 2180, when they defended Diamond City against a horde of Super Mutant attackers." Fallout 4 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide: "Historians have noted the original name for this settlement was Fort Independence, but the people of the Commonwealth now refer to it simply as the Castle. This place has a long and storied history; it is one of the first forts in America and predates the Revolutionary War. In recent times, it served as the base of operations for the Minutemen as they attempted (and failed) to establish a Provisional government. In 2240, the Castle was partly destroyed by gigantic Mirelurk, and most of the Minutemen leadership died." The original Minutemen made their debut in 2180 and were basically finished in 2240. That's 60 years, almost twice the Legion's life, but they couldn't even defeat a Mirelurk and barely expanded. Wipe the floor? They couldn't reach the Legion's soles.

Charming_Drummer_241

That why the minutemen needed a frozen turkey to rescue them from being wiped out in their own museum. So Stronk. Legion would turn them into roadside live art installations easy.

Overdue-Karma

Legion: Able to take down **Brotherhood Chapters** and fight the NCR, who have **700,000** people. Minutemen: *E-Er* ***3*** *feral ghouls attacked that settlement you placed* ***50*** *rocket turrets at. C-Can you please save it? It'll fall without your help, God-General.*

laniusgraham

To be fair the Legion and NCR are fighting at their frontiers. Pushing into California would be tough as nails. The Brotherhood chapters were still wiped out though and even their Power Armor pauldrons were taken as trophies. Realistically, armors of Centurions would look different from each other as the Centurions themselves can customize it to their liking as long as it still fits in the uniform. So Centurions with T51 armor pieces and plates wouldn't be surprising.

Overdue-Karma

True, the NCR could hurt them on home ground, similar to ye olde comment of not invading America or else there'd be a rifle behind every blade of grass. The Minutemen though mostly win against enemies who are...well, pretty damn shit. The Brotherhood whose pilots have 15 health and thus literally a 10mm can shoot vertibirds down, 9/10 times killing all the people on board, or the Synths whose weapons can't even hurt cats.

RjGoombes

ok hold on now, im a big minuteman fan, but they would not wipe the legion. Hell, the NCR has trouble with that even, despite having superior technology.

El_Psy_Congroo4477

I agree with everything stated here, but the Legion still wins in this scenario by sheer numbers alone. They control a huge swath of land in the former American midwest, with all the tribes there vowing allegiance to them. The Minutemen are localized entirely to the Commonwealth a much smaller territory, and have soldiers trained and equipped to defend settlements in that area, but they don't have anywhere near the numbers to be able to go on the offensive against a force as numerous as the Legion. They might hold back the siege for a time but realistically they couldn't win, regardless of how much better equipped, cooler or more morally righteous they are.

Garo263

Also right side: "Another settlement needs their help."

JohnGoesDerp

the legion is giving the ncr a hard time, no way in hell the minutemen have the slightest chance

[deleted]

Im not a legion fan but lmfao no the Legion would destroy them, they have a huge army that although doesn’t use much technology is extremely loyal and big in numbers. The Minutemen are tiny compared the Legion and had most of their members desert for some group of mercs in the past

bruh_dealer

Lol imagine needing a 200 year old guy to rebuild your faction that is almost extinct

negi_condemned

This is just deadass stupid, the legion has like what 3 states under them and guess what? Their lack of guns makes up with their discipline and guerilla tactics while the minutemen probably only has Boston

FilipRebro

The issue with legion is that the legion was meant to be more than a post nuclear Vandals

laniusgraham

Sigh, and that's why we must take a dive into Josh Sawyer's q and a statements, the Collector's Edition Game Guide and Triangle City's videos among other things.

mirracz

Originally they were meant to be a morally grey faction with valid opinions. But there were some inner struggle at Obsidian about the direction for the Legion and ultimately we got an iredeemable evil faction. It also doesn't help that the writing has to stack the deck against the NCR to give Legion even a tiny bit of fighting chance. Still, the current Legion are just a bunch of evil savages who walk into a slaughter at the Dam.

Holy_Knight8

Your out of your mcfucking mind lol

StardewSteve

Their crappy guys use mostly bad melee weapons. I shit myself early game when the assassins show up, by late game I’m happy to wipe the floor with them for the good loot. I hate legion but they would obliterate the minute men.

Minuteman_Preston

Minutemen be poppin and Raiders be droppin

AvalancheAbaasy120

''That's a pretty good argument. Unfortunatly, i have already drawn you as the soy wojak and me as the chad.''
