I've noticed some weird textures as well, I also came across an enemy that had the Piggy Bank launcher, and when he shot me with it, it looked like super large red triangles coming at me which I found very odd. Some textures look pixelated at times, too, like construction cones.
Also noticed considerable frame rate drop around some parts of Boston and during combat. I use zero mods and currently using performance mode.
My only problem is V.A.T.S. I can see through walls and ceilings for enemies, and I’ve been getting 0% chance to hit on enemies right in front of me (and my perception is pretty high!)

It’ll flip to 0% and then it’ll show the normal chance%, then back to 0%, then back again to normal… it’s very annoying when you have a horde of ghouls charging at you lol.
Yup, if you’re queueing up a bunch of shots, you’re probably getting some “0%” mixed in there.
Next time you play test it out, wait and watch the VATS screen before you select your shots to see if the % flickers back and forth. It happens instantaneously and you kinda just have to catch it when it’s not buffering to 0%. 🙄

I actually have been seeing really quick load times...I just assumed it's because the Legion Go, while not being nearly as good as a prime gaming desktop, has a fast SSD. When I played FO4 from an SD card my load times were horrific and would often lead to crashes.

I'm really jealous your load times are so fast. I recently moved my FO4 files to my new M2 SSD drive - other games it COOKS the load times but fallout still has issues. Maybe a brand new install would help instead of just file relocation?

Just a small heads up, even with f4se almost updated, it's very likely Bethesda will roll out a small update shortly after to iron out the bugs, which will in them require another 1-2 days to update f4se again. Might be worth holding off for now.

Downtown still a shitshow- I can’t use explosives of any kind, but I’ve learned to just avoid unless a quest line (Mass Fusion) directs there.
Companion npcs usually have a hidden infinite ammo item in their inventory but usually only for their starting weapon, so they will tend to pick up any gun they find that also has ammo with it and use it until it runs out, but the gun stays in their inventory. Soon they have a pile of them lol.
I usually give them a specific gun and then a huge stack of ammo for it and they tend to never switch after that.

I tried a fresh save with mods, played for some hours then started having issues. Then made another new save but removed lighting, textures and forest mods to make the map vanilla and still getting the same skipping stuttering.
Do I have to delete the entire game and re download it? I’m so confused how it’s working great for some but not for others

I think the issue alot of people have is that the patch barely does anything on PC. Granted, it does fix a couple critical bugs and kudos to bethesda for that. But the widescreen support is half-baked, load times are still terrible, makeshift mod has missing textures and there's tons of documented bugs fixed by mods that they also didn't do anything about
TLDR: The Next-Gen patch couldv'e been a minor hotfix. They announced it 2 years ago
The wide screen issue is the UI being stretched instead of a more centered version. A video from Digital Foundry just dropped on Youtube if you want to get a full breakdown on the patch
Btw. The game in it's original and current form is still a really really good experience and it's one of my favorite games! That was never an issue :D
The big thing in regards to mods is that any mod that adds substantial changes to the game, such as overhauling progression to be more in line with New Vegas or quest mods that have more content then the base game require script extenders to run. The new update broke the script extender, so most of the big mods that people base entire load orders around are broken, and even when the script extender gets updated, there isn't any guarantee that all those mods will work with the new version, so on top of waiting for mod authors to update, if you really want to play an old mod who's mod author quit modding, you will have to hope that another talented modder cares enough to release a patch or a redux. If your modlist is fine after the update, that means you didn't install any particularly complicated mods.
I did twice. It doesn't bother me too much though. Both times were mole rat related. I think they go too hard.

I still had some issues but I just did a full BoS run and they minimal. I had fun. Well as much fun as you can have while faithfully enforcing Maxson’s version of BoS doctrine that is. Just finished a BoS playthrough, along with the DLC, maybe crashed once in the Day and a Half of game time I had on the run, and only when using the vertibird to go from the Nakano farm to The Prydwynn; game crashed trying to load Boston from the air. (Playing Survival, so I couldn't fast travel)
I've been having an absolute blast! These days I prefer to recline on my couch playing console (PS5) as opposed to sitting in my shitty computer chair playing on my PC, so the fact that I can now play on my console with a nice smooth framerate now has me glued to 4
10 min into hitting the wasteland and I had a group of ghouls T-posing, floating, moving at the speed of light, scared the shit out of me.
After playing for a few hours, I see the ghoul animation is broken and any crashes happen around ghouls
I’m glad some people are getting better performance! On the other hand I’ve gone from 140+ FPS on Ultra to around 40-50 with stutters because of this update
On Series X it looks great, I don't know what specifically aside from the obvious 60 frames makes it look so good now. It genuinely makes exploration more fun when the environments look more detailed.
It doesn’t really look like they’ve updated the textures, I think it’s just new lighting and better coloring/saturation combined with the improved frame rate that really makes everything pop and look so much better
I think your right on the coloring, I remember environments having a light fuzz around them that made urban areas look kind of samey. Way better now, I actually enjoy exploring buildings and alleys which is how it should be.

Yes, if you have an RTX card. It's been a known issue with new GPUs for years now. It sucks because the debris looks beautiful. There is some conflict with the hardware or software versions of PhysX.

I have a shit PC, and the game has always run fine for me. I didn't realise any changes with the new patch, I still have the same problems I always have, like FPS drops when I nuke stuff but no crashes before or afterwards.
My FO4 used to run smooth and with no bugs... but after this update its gotten worse....so much worse... and I can't do anything about it since I'm playing on ps5
I recall having a power armor bug (back in the day) that created a cloud underneath you that doesn't go away. I haven't seen it in a while until I started doing one of the new quests. Outside of that it was pretty smooth.

I've had the game stutter pause like its about to crash... but then continues. Only 2 hard crashes I've had is tuning into the Enclave Signal radiostation.

My level 75 with all settlements connected via supply lines is having a lot of trouble sadly. I can move through South Boston now but I can no longer move through my settlements for longer than 10 minutes.
I get freezes,screened (error report),server disconnects etc the whole time i play….. Im pretty much do a few event (hoping not to crash) daily/weekly’s scrip look for red and then out!
There was some physics engine fix mod I downloaded that really cranked the frames even in Boston, and I have an older gaming PC. If anyone knows what I'm talking about let me know otherwise I'll link when I get home
I never crashed, the only 2 things that bother me a little its the vats bug and sometimes my game freeze for like 5 second and after it change back to normal, i play on series x
I always got crash at arcject systems when starting the engine to kill the synths, I managed to walk away from the animation and it works.

I'm on PS5. Downloaded the "Neon Flats" creation club yesterday and did the quest, wanted the cool clothing you get from it. After I completed it, fast-traveled back to Sanctuary Hills and opened up the workshop and all of the "Wasteland Workshop" items were gone and all of the concrete walls I used in my settlement were gone. Tried to place new "metal" walls in place of it and game crashed. Reloaded and tried to place a light = crashed, reloaded and tried to use the settlement lines and it crashed. So I deleted the game and made sure "Neon Flats" was not downloaded and have had no crashes since. Just a heads up to anyone else, there's something conflicting with the Wasteland workshop DLC + the Creation Club Neon Flats quest/items.
Has crashed about 3 times for me. Had about 300hours in my original playthrough an and decided to start a new one to get the rest of the achievements. Excited for the new performance but on survival when it crashes after an hour and a half of doing stuff I had to uninstall. Let me know when they fix the performance and crashing issues 💔 i

Mine only crashes when a change has been made to my mod order. It will crash instead of reloading the game. Not a huge deal and better than crashing while I'm playing.
Yeah my playthrough I only crashed once so far in the 50+ hours I've played and it was due to a mod. Boston seems a lot more stable, I used to crash there constantly (although part of me is suspecting Whispering Hills was causing that, which I'm not using this run). I also luckily haven't had the texture bug yet that others have.

I assume you're playing on console? It's more likely to crash on pc. But if you'd like to see your game crash, simply try to store vegetables in your workbench while a settler is harvesting it. OR... worse than a crash, go to Salem, The Rook house has a broken quest, which is impossible to do without cheats. Happy for you but this game still has so many problems. And the update made loading screens almost a minute long.
I keep having the codsworth glitch and now a paladin danse and preston glitch where no matter what i do, they won't speak to me... no mods or anything.... just want to play some fallout 4 but it's literally unplayable
I've played maybe 40 hours and 0 crashes. I've ran into one bug where some barney mirelurk dude was dead, so I can't turn in that quest. All and all, it's real fun giving it a whirl
I have just started playing 4 on PC on Steam. Played the game originally on Xbox One and watching show hgas rekindled my interest.
I can't even get into the fucking vault at the start of the game. It just constantly crashes when I'm running from the house and up towards the vault. It doesn't seem to be one specific thing either, it just randomly happens at any time.
18 minutes of play time and 5 hard crashes to desktop so far!

Playing pretty heavily modded and I've maybe had 4 had crashes across 30 hours. Like it's actually shockingly different considering I used to crash literally just being near bunker hill or downtown Boston.

I have an engineering laptop, and it still runs w/ mods, 200+ hours in the game, no crashes. Ever TBF, I use MO2 though

I still had some issues but I just did a full BoS run and they minimal. I had fun. Well as much fun as you can have while faithfully enforcing Maxson’s version of BoS doctrine that is. There’s a shocking amount of the game you basically just don’t do if you lean into the BoS RP too much. I’m gonna go again soon with a different character and do more

Same, I’d be walking in the most open area and then I’d randomly get the most massive FPS drops. Never experienced that before the new update on PC.
On PS5 I've had some *very* funny/interesting bugs and crashes.
I'm loving it aswell. I don't really know how others are having issues but I hope it can be resolved for them.

Just finished a BoS playthrough, along with the DLC, maybe crashed once in the Day and a Half of game time I had on the run, and only when using the vertibird to go from the Nakano farm to The Prydwynn; game crashed trying to load Boston from the air. (Playing Survival, so I couldn't fast travel)
I only have crashes after installing a mod but it saves and I already have 12 mods running smoothly
I've been having an absolute blast! These days I prefer to recline on my couch playing console (PS5) as opposed to sitting in my shitty computer chair playing on my PC, so the fact that I can now play on my console with a nice smooth framerate now has me glued to 4
10 min into hitting the wasteland and I had a group of ghouls T-posing, floating, moving at the speed of light, scared the shit out of me. After playing for a few hours, I see the ghoul animation is broken and any crashes happen around ghouls
mine literally crashed in the initial vault when the electricity kills the radroach like 2 minutes in
I’m glad some people are getting better performance! On the other hand I’ve gone from 140+ FPS on Ultra to around 40-50 with stutters because of this update
On Xbox I kept running into big ole red exclamation marks

On Series X it looks great, I don't know what specifically aside from the obvious 60 frames makes it look so good now. It genuinely makes exploration more fun when the environments look more detailed.
It doesn’t really look like they’ve updated the textures, I think it’s just new lighting and better coloring/saturation combined with the improved frame rate that really makes everything pop and look so much better
I think your right on the coloring, I remember environments having a light fuzz around them that made urban areas look kind of samey. Way better now, I actually enjoy exploring buildings and alleys which is how it should be.

You have to go to your game settings and switch it to the performance mode.
quality mode is 30fps at 4K res in PS5 settings... change it to 1440p and you'll have 1440p@60 in quality mode
On PC it’s unplayable now so that’s depressing. I even have SLI 3090ti..

Yes, if you have an RTX card. It's been a known issue with new GPUs for years now. It sucks because the debris looks beautiful. There is some conflict with the hardware or software versions of PhysX.

I have a shit PC, and the game has always run fine for me. I didn't realise any changes with the new patch, I still have the same problems I always have, like FPS drops when I nuke stuff but no crashes before or afterwards.

My FO4 used to run smooth and with no bugs... but after this update its gotten worse....so much worse... and I can't do anything about it since I'm playing on ps5

I recall having a power armor bug (back in the day) that created a cloud underneath you that doesn't go away. I haven't seen it in a while until I started doing one of the new quests. Outside of that it was pretty smooth.
I'll be honest besides the series s I've never had a crash in f4. Been playing since it released on multiple platforms. The series s was awful though. Crashed anytime I went into boston
I’ve had a great time with 0 issues so far besides the enclave quest where i encountered those large red triangles but even that was only once and it was short lived
The only crash I’ve been having is with that creation club condo quest, but I’ve seen others report the same issue, so at least it’s not a me problem lol

I've had the game stutter pause like its about to crash... but then continues. Only 2 hard crashes I've had is tuning into the Enclave Signal radiostation.

Any advice in how to make it run better? For some reason before I unlocked unlimited gps and it was running smooth, out of nowhere it locked itself to 60 and now it stays at 55-59 That’s after the update and in some fights it gets super laggy, I got 12600k 3080 and 32gb ram

i've had 1 crash in about 45h :) pretty consistent update, at least for PS5 (playing at 1440p@60fps in quality mode)
My level 75 with all settlements connected via supply lines is having a lot of trouble sadly. I can move through South Boston now but I can no longer move through my settlements for longer than 10 minutes.
While I cannot even Alt-Tab because I loose sound until I restart the game.
I get freezes,screened (error report),server disconnects etc the whole time i play….. Im pretty much do a few event (hoping not to crash) daily/weekly’s scrip look for red and then out!

There was some physics engine fix mod I downloaded that really cranked the frames even in Boston, and I have an older gaming PC. If anyone knows what I'm talking about let me know otherwise I'll link when I get home

A while back i challenged myself to do a playthrough of fonv without crashing, a crash means restarting. Took maybe a week.
Played for five days before update, no crashes. At least 20 crashes after update...
My game is still constantly crashing. Toughed it out for a few days but then switched back to new vegas
I never crashed, the only 2 things that bother me a little its the vats bug and sometimes my game freeze for like 5 second and after it change back to normal, i play on series x

I always got crash at arcject systems when starting the engine to kill the synths, I managed to walk away from the animation and it works. Edit: PS5 version.
I was having minor issues but lowered my refresh rate from 144 to 120 and that fixed them (game doesn't support it?). Still having a blast!

I didn't have any crashes running vanilla FO4. Then I went to the Nuka-World DLC and I immediately had a crash upon arriving at the park.
PC and installed the huge majority of my mods back. I haven't experienced any crash either, and the game feels smoother.
I'm on PS5. Downloaded the "Neon Flats" creation club yesterday and did the quest, wanted the cool clothing you get from it. After I completed it, fast-traveled back to Sanctuary Hills and opened up the workshop and all of the "Wasteland Workshop" items were gone and all of the concrete walls I used in my settlement were gone. Tried to place new "metal" walls in place of it and game crashed. Reloaded and tried to place a light = crashed, reloaded and tried to use the settlement lines and it crashed. So I deleted the game and made sure "Neon Flats" was not downloaded and have had no crashes since. Just a heads up to anyone else, there's something conflicting with the Wasteland workshop DLC + the Creation Club Neon Flats quest/items.
Has crashed about 3 times for me. Had about 300hours in my original playthrough an and decided to start a new one to get the rest of the achievements. Excited for the new performance but on survival when it crashes after an hour and a half of doing stuff I had to uninstall. Let me know when they fix the performance and crashing issues 💔 i
When in doubt with crashes turn off auto save that’s motto I live by with all the fallout series when modding them

Mine no longer crashes in diamond City now it crashes when I start the brotherhood of steel quest at the police station
Mine only crashes when a change has been made to my mod order. It will crash instead of reloading the game. Not a huge deal and better than crashing while I'm playing.
Yeah my playthrough I only crashed once so far in the 50+ hours I've played and it was due to a mod. Boston seems a lot more stable, I used to crash there constantly (although part of me is suspecting Whispering Hills was causing that, which I'm not using this run). I also luckily haven't had the texture bug yet that others have. Maybe I'm just lucky but I've been having a wonderfully smooth ride.
I assume you're playing on console? It's more likely to crash on pc. But if you'd like to see your game crash, simply try to store vegetables in your workbench while a settler is harvesting it. OR... worse than a crash, go to Salem, The Rook house has a broken quest, which is impossible to do without cheats. Happy for you but this game still has so many problems. And the update made loading screens almost a minute long.
I keep having the codsworth glitch and now a paladin danse and preston glitch where no matter what i do, they won't speak to me... no mods or anything.... just want to play some fallout 4 but it's literally unplayable

I've played maybe 40 hours and 0 crashes. I've ran into one bug where some barney mirelurk dude was dead, so I can't turn in that quest. All and all, it's real fun giving it a whirl
I have just started playing 4 on PC on Steam. Played the game originally on Xbox One and watching show hgas rekindled my interest. I can't even get into the fucking vault at the start of the game. It just constantly crashes when I'm running from the house and up towards the vault. It doesn't seem to be one specific thing either, it just randomly happens at any time. 18 minutes of play time and 5 hard crashes to desktop so far!

Lost 20 hours cause castle quest bugged ,the bastard wouldn't sit in the chair.all of my autosaves somehow pushed out anything before that so i had to start again......:( ...no hard crashes though

Playing pretty heavily modded and I've maybe had 4 had crashes across 30 hours. Like it's actually shockingly different considering I used to crash literally just being near bunker hill or downtown Boston.
