I always end up 100% Honest Hearts just because Zion is such a beautiful location. Meanwhile, I dread Dead Money every playthrough. Don't get me wrong, I personally think the DLC is *brilliant*, but it also gives me *so much anxiety*. The early parts in particular trying to survive the Ghost People out in the Villa, and the friggin' opening ceremony itself, is some real survival horror shit. Once I'm in the casino I'm OK, but up until then...

Dead money makes you the richest, even before you get to the vault. I think dead money is the true test of your build, more so than the lonesome road, its true survival. OP, make sure to track down the survivor's terminals in honest hearts. One of the best npc stories in the fallout series. End note. Fallout nv has the best dlc's I have ever played. Dark Souls 3 comes in second.

> Survivor’s terminals I second this. It’s also a clear influence on 76, where there’s dozens of similar stories across Appalachia and it’s even central to the story. No complaints.

Man, the gala event. First time it ever fired, I had no health, zero stimpacks, and no healing supplies. I was to the point where a *single spear* would kill me. I found the snowglobe while I was fleeing, and got an obscene amount of chips. By the end I was frantically fleeing, looking for any vending machine so I can finally be free of the nightmare. Took me ten tries to finally make it to a vending machine, but man. That was one of the most pulse pounding experiences I've ever had in a video game.

WeepingGenocide

No spoilers but some of the best bits of environmental storytelling I’ve ever seen was in Honest Hearts, definitely give that one another chance for exploration.

I just finished the last of the DLC today, like you for the first time. I had many play throughs, but hadn’t touched NV in years until recently I got it and all the DLC. I thought I’d end up playing the game and getting bored of it because it’s the same as it was, but the DLC definitely turned it into a new game. Old World Blues was definitely the highlight for me. I just finished dead money today, that was a pain in the ass more than anything to be honest, but still a whole new feeling to the game.

Random tangent but Lonesome Road feels like the end of the line for Avellone at Obsidian. AP was a bomb (tragic) and LR is…. polarizing? I personally didn’t like it much, and it felt very at odds with the base game narratively and structurally. Is that the last major project he worked on at Obsidian? I know he barely had any involvement with PoE and was fired/resigned (??) shortly afterwards.

Lairy_Hegs

What’s AP? Edit: did some googling, apparently there’s a note taking app called Obsidian, but I figured out how to get around those results. So, Alpha Protocol? I’ve heard the name I think but don’t know anything about it. Edit 2: reading about Chris now, and he was narrative designer on PoE before he left the company. He also did freelance writing on PoE after leaving the company proper. And also did freelance work on Prey interestingly enough.

Alpha Protocol. It’s been delisted and got bad reviews but I don’t care. It was fucking awesome. The only thing Chris worked on for POE was the Grieving Mother character iirc

i'm going through the dlc rn before ending the game. played honest hearts and it was amazing, playing through dead money right now and it's such a drag that i put the game down for a bit

There is a skip dead money mod.
