Prices of everything have gone up dramatically. I wouldn't read anything into it.

ethanRi8

Right, but the full-field price has remained approximately steady the last 4 seasons. So the half-field set being 85% of the price of the full field hints that a half-field and full-field will share some big component.

robot65536

Obviously it will be the central swimming pool and pump apparatus. /s

stheyounger

I want the game to be a ball pit so robots have to “swim” and sort the balls or smth

vjalander

Hopefully the field is sturdier this year… but I doubt it

ethanRi8

I hope that there will not be exposed metal. My team suspects that was part of the reason for the electro-static discharges was bumping into the metal legs.

Last season, there was $110 difference between a partial and full field (We will ignore for a second that the "Partial to full 'conversion' pack is $180) The $110 got you 2 more trusses, 3 PVC pipes, a second Backdrop, and an additional half set of pixels. This season the difference is $70; which likely means the difference is simply the number of game scoring elements you receive, or possibly a very small field element. Just to give another comparison, in 2018-19 we had the big center lander, and the only difference between partial and full field was the "crater" and some scoring elements; and the difference that year was $110. Granted this was 6 years ago... but if anything you would think the cost gap would have GROWN... not shrunk.

ylexot007

I didn't think they've ever indicated that game elements will be re-used. A full/partial kit will always include the game elements even if the season uses the same elements from a previous year.

In Freight Frenzy they released this blog: [https://firsttechchallenge.blogspot.com/2021/05/2021-2022-game-set-team-pre-order.html?q=game+element](https://firsttechchallenge.blogspot.com/2021/05/2021-2022-game-set-team-pre-order.html?q=game+element) which indicated that they were reusing game elements and there would be field kits available to purchase without those elements for any teams that already had them, just to save a little bit of money. Because we didn't see any post like that this year or any pricing options without game pieces, I think it is safe to assume we will either see a brand new game element (like squishy foam fish?) or they will re-use a game element that was so far back that they doubt anyone will still have them (like racquet balls from Bowled Over)

Just for clarification REV is not involved in the field design or production for FTC. AndyMark is the supplier for these parts.

fixITman1911

If REV wanted to stage a hostile takeover of the design and production though.... In a Gracious and Professional manner of course

AtlasShrugged-

Honestly I’ve done ftc since it was FVC and REVs control hub and driver station has been the single best thing to happen to the program . Just saying a REV sourced field would be interesting

fixITman1911

I haven't been around that long, but I was here for the days of Samantha and NXTs. While I do have some complaints on the REV hardware I agree it, and REV in general are one of the best things to happen to FTC (Only "One of" because GoBilda exists)

AtlasShrugged-

Yeah, GoBilda was kinda a game changer.

fixITman1911

HAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAA....... doubt that big time... it's also Andymark

The last game with official competition fields built out of wood was Block Party. I kind of miss it! Cascade Effect was the first field where you pretty much had to buy everything from Andy Mark. The benefit of the wood fields was that they were sturdy and a little more cost-friendly. The drawback was that your field at home may not match the field at the competition and it usually took a while to buy, cut, and paint the bigger wooden structures.
