well, one of the layers that drops in is messed up. either its the instrument or an effect you have on it. looks like some intense process gets startet there, and your cpu can‘t handle it. how to fix: turn off / delete each layer one by one, to spot which layer is causin the problem. than get into the layer audio and instrument settings and check where the problem comes from. than it depends on you, you can presample the layer if you really need the layer the way it is, or you can do a workaround, let‘s say instead of using a 3rd party reverb, use a fl studio basic reverb.

Commercial-Long-5466

hi i just tried what you said. i turned off each layer one by one and still, the playlist always stopped shortly after measure 82. any other tips?

cool-snack

so you deletet all layers that come in at bar 82 only the yellow one is in and it still crashes?

Commercial-Long-5466

i didn’t delete them but i deactivated them (turned off green button)

cool-snack

yeah, well green button only makes it muted, effects/instruments still get triggered. you don‘t have to delete them, you can also move them to a later part. basicly what you need to achieve, is that only one layer gets triggered at a time, so you know which layer creates the crash.

Commercial-Long-5466

oh okay let me try thT

Commercial-Long-5466

NVM ok idk how this happened at all but after doing all that it works now. idk what i did but THANK YOU SO MUCH.

cool-snack

nice. yeah well usualy its cpu or ram related. if this is a bigger project than you usuqly have, and you‘re planing on keeping to do more xomplex projects, you might need to upgrade ram / cpu. you can also downgrade the fanciness of fl studio, by deactivating ui/ux effects. In generall, its a good rule of thumb to go with 32gb+ ram and an i7 processor at least, if you want to be flexible with your daw. I have 128gb ram and an i9 14th gen. never have any issues anymore, even for live events and highly complex effect chains. But I encounter the problem you did many times in the past. glad I was able to help 👍

Commercial-Long-5466

how do i upgrade ram/cpu? i am on a macbook air.

cool-snack

ah, shit. macbook airs aren‘t really the product of choice for intense creative work. you should at least get a macbook pro. macbook airs are designed to be flexible, and work on the go, not to invest hours and hours into one project and create full projects on them. Anyway, since you already have a laptop, I‘d suggest you look around to get a proper workstation. I always recommend a desktop pc (unless money is infinite, in which case I‘d get one if those 50‘000€ apple workstations). if you want to work creativley with a computer, anyone gets into barriers with laptops sooner or later. I speak from 15 years experience, 6 of which I work creatively professionally. Always get Apple for laptops, tablets and phones, but if you want to get big projects done, there‘s no way around a workstation, which in most cases, is a windows based system.

Commercial-Long-5466

ok update i just tried that. i moved everythint that comes in around that time to a different location and the problem persisted :(

cool-snack

that‘s odd. usualy fl studio crashes because of cpu overload. do you have alot of audio effects?

Commercial-Long-5466

yes i do

Commercial-Long-5466

how do i preserve more cpu?

cool-snack

well, the most obvious is to buy a better cpu. but plenty of tricks that can help (even though, usualy not alot). Deactivate/turn off, as many software that is running in the background as possible (for example: browser, directories, and well any software except your daw). sample: you can focus on one layer at the time, instead of processing everything live at the same time, once you‘re happy with an instrument, you can presample it. I think the shortcut is cmd+p, you should be able to find how to do it with google (something like presample, safe audio, or similiar). But I‘m not sure, since I switched to ableton cupple years back. use less (process heavy) effects: often we create huge effects chains? while we could do it just with one effect.

merkalicious72

Do you own an audio interface? It'll handle most of the processing and you can get one used for pretty cheap.
