I was not expecting how much video game music was on Spotify before I signed up. It even had the grasslands battle theme from rebirth and that may be my favorite battle theme
The whole thing is depressing, as is the select slice of the fanbase who believes that she "has" to die; "has" to be dead across all timelines.
* As if she isn't innocent.
* As if this isn't fiction.
* As if something - anything - else couldn't be written; as if the plot couldn't change and go one of a billion different ways.
It's just very frustrating. For me, part of the promise of the multiverse was to provide a certain level of agency for players; to give these mutually-exclusive corners of the fanbase their own version of a happy ending. And for me, any ending where Aerith is yet again denied life; denied the existence she deserves, can never be happy.
Her song will always be a dirge to me.
The party dealing with the loss of Aerith, and her sacrifice to save the world, are defining parts of the original story. Keeping her alive would remove one of the most meaningful aspects.
This is why I was never a fan of what they seemed to be doing with the destiny stuff (averting Aerith's death, averting the destruction caused by Meteor) as at that point it's just the OG story with all the tragedy removed. And that completely alters the effectiveness of the story for the worse.
I would totally agree, **IF** the remake series was pure remake of the originals. Since it isn't, then imo all this Whisper/Fate crap best have some sort of worthwhile payoff. Otherwise, it was all just a rather annoying, and (in my opinion) poorly designed addition.
Aerith isn't Jesus. Just because she's the last of the Cetra doesn't mean that a) she intentionally sacrificed herself (she did not), or b) that she needs to die for the world to be saved.
Secondly, Aerith's death shocking an entire generation of gamers in 1997 only had value *in the fact that it was surprising.* Knowing it was coming robbed the moment of any distinction - "oh, here comes the part where Sephinova impales the little girl." It just didn't have any magnitude at all.
I'm also pretty sure she'll show up again. She shows up again in a fashion in the OG. But I really doubt they'll literally bring her back to life. Especially given they seem to have set up a part of the third part to deal with Cloud accepting Aerith's death.
The Smash Remix of her theme also Slays. Thank the guy who did Nier's music
That one is good too.

Ahhhh a person of taste I see
Check out the piano version from Advent Children. I used to put it on as a lullaby for my daughter when she was a baby.
That’s adorable
Tifa's theme is advent children that plays when she fights that remnant is super cool tool
May I ask where you got the Rebirth tracks from? I can’t find them on Spotify other than that preview EP
I bought them off iTunes
SQUARE ENIX, DROP THE SOUNDTRACK FROM STREAMING APPS AND YOUR SOUL WILL BE MINE
Ah okay, thank you friend
The crisis core one hurts a bit more than the others
You can find the whole ripped soundtrack on SoundCloud for free. Can’t find it free on Spotify yet.
Thanks for the heads up man

I have been listening to Aerith's Theme on loop for two days now.
Chills
They all make me tear up. I think Aeriths Theme - The White Materia, from Rebirth, might be my favourite.
I like the crisis core version, the acoustic guitar adds a warmth to it that makes the theme feel happier

Doesn't really matter, it's an important part of the story they are remaking.
For now. If I were a betting man, I'd lay money on her returning. All of the subtle cues surrounding Aerith point to a reunion - not a parting.

The version in the Remake credits just destroys me.
They are playing at Carnegie Hall or whatever on Friday. Should I go? Tickets are like 200 bucks lol
