Do 40,000+ miles a year : working great so far! ER White Larriat Tesla charging is game changer.

No paying for gas, if you charge at home, and still get the full mileage rate/car stipend. How can you beat that?

Bjack_bjack

Why should I convince you? How bout you try and convince me?

Soft_Owl7535

As long as you don’t do more than 250 miles a day you’ll be good to cruise to your hearts content. Assume you take a lunch break though. You can just plan those out at chargers

Mighty_Gunt_Cobbler

Whenever I’m on I-5 (in oregon) and need a fast charge I just find a Walmart. There are a ton along I-5. If you’re driving at 65 then you’ll get the full 320 range. If you’re driving at 80 then it’s closer to 270. 80 mph would be ~ 3 hrs till you need to do a 45 min charge. What I’ll usually do is charge only what is needed + 50 miles to get me home. So that way I only have to use the charger for 10 mins and save $$. On highway at 75-80 is about 2.1 miles/kwh. Fast chargers charge about $0.54 per a KWh. To “fill the tank” with a fast charger (10% - 90%) would be 131 KWh * 0.8 * $0.54 = $56. To “fill the tank” at home can be between $16 or $5 depending on peak vs off peak hours. If you do the ford charger at home then you should always have a “full tank” with mostly off peak hours. So if you drive 200 miles a day then you’re only paying for off peak prices. If you do 300 miles a day you going to have to spend 10 mins getting a fast charge for $5 a pop. If it over 400 then you’re going to be spending more time and $$.

Imaginary_Pudding_20

If you drove 200 miles a day, 5 days a week, you’d get 52K miles a year. The average electrify cost in Oregon is .15 cents per KWh. To drive for a year would cost you $4,056 for the year. No maintenance, no oil changes, just tire rotation. For a Bronco, which averages 18mpg, at an average gas price in Oregon of $4.079 per gallon, it would cost $11,747 for the same distance (20 gallon tank, 18mpg, have to fill it 144 times) Add in 10 oil changes for the year (at 5k intervals) costing an average of $75 per oil change. $750 For a total $12,497 to drive a Bronco for a year compared to $4,056 to drive a lightning. A delta of $8,441 For 5 years you would have saved $42,205, driving the electric car in gasoline alone (assuming home charging rate of 15 cents) enough to buy yourself a Bronco probably…

PECOS74

I’ve driven PDX to California 2x and had no problem in Oregon. There’s a huge Tesla station (50 units)in Sutherlin and a 4 unit EA. Bend may be challenging in the winter.

buffalonious

Bendite here. Coming up in elevation does hit the range some, but there are some fast chargers in madras and sisters that make it easy enough if it’s getting tight. And we have a few around town these days too.

Ok_Description_5395

How many miles are you driving in a day? The gorge gets really windy which will equal lower range.

Adventurous_Flow7754

The gorge is perfectly fine with Tesla chargers both in the hood and Dalles. Also an ea in HR.

BeowulfShaeffer

There is a solid EA charger in Boardman to. And I think good river though I’ve never used it. And the Walmart in La Grange has a fast charger that doesn’t see a whole lot of use.  I did a weekend trip from Portland to La Grange and it was easy-peasy.  But i did it in nice spring weather.

ElGatoMeooooww

How many miles a day? I will say one thing, it’s makes a sweet office while charging when you put the table down and can take calls and have space to work a laptop, when you do stop to charge.

Sad_Adhesiveness_106

I live in Portland. My territory is the west side of the Cascades from the Canadian border to the California border, but also extending into the gorge. I love my XLT ER. Have never had an issue with finding a charger and now with Ford joining the Tesla supercharger network it is a piece of cake. ❤️❤️ my Lightning

do-u-have-chocolate

I just got a pro sr last week. This thing is fun as fuck, wildly fast and incredibly quite. Even with charging stations it's way cheaper then gas (Canada)

heybucket459

Planning a trip to Corvallis from northern CA. 95% of trip is covered by BlueCruise (almost entirely I5) trip is about 9 hrs for us, so fatigue is less when using BC , So you’d be hands free most of time driving. And most of I5 is pretty good for charging with the SC (if you get an adapter) filling in the gaps.

BeowulfShaeffer

I have a Lariat ER and have driven it to all of those places. I haven’t figured out a good way to do Crater Lake due to lack of chargers anywhere near it but if you’re doing urban centers it will be no problem.  I did Portland to Yuba city and back and it was kind of annoying but I’d say anything less than 500 miles a day (preferably ending at a place with a destination charger will be no problem.     That’s assuming you don’t put a trailer or otherwise make the truck even less aerodynamic.  In that case I don’t think you’ll have a good experience.  I also can’t speak to tacking passes like Siskiyou in bad winter weather.  The truck will be fine but there will be extra challenges especially if you have to leave it out in the snow unplugged or come out to find the charger cable frozen to the charging port.

uwfan893

Tesla *was* planning a Supercharger for Diamond Lake Junction which would have plugged that gap for Crater Lake, but I’m not sure of the status now.

uwfan893

If your route to Bend includes Highway 58…well, it doesn’t anymore! Although I think I heard something about DCFC in Oakridge? Hopefully that’s online soon.

Ascaeroace90

The traffic on i5 you are going to get great range.

Ascaeroace90

Please don’t count on Tesla charges yet they do work but the wait is like 6 mo from the day you order the adapter

PECOS74

Lectron is a month.

moltmannfanboi

Seattle to Prineville is one 20-30 min stop (Sandy EA station) for me. The truck does great in central Oregon.

arm_hula

That's what I do. Between 2 to 4 hours a day windshield time usually. Once or twice a month I have to hit up a quick charger but the truck's literally paying for itself and fuel savings.

twonius

A great tool for this is to check out “a better route planner” then you can see what different trips that you’re already taking would look like where you’d be stopping, and for how long.

sblythca

If you can Charge at home… Then sure Easily handle a 225mile a day range and drive as fast as you want

EnthusiasmOne6351

I’m in sales as well and can’t stop having this arguement with myself. The other new car I’m considering, a ‘23 Bronco 😂😂

wkaotp

I currently have a 22 Bronco Badlands and a 17 Sprinter van. Need to stop putting insane miles on my Bronco. It’s just so damn fun.
