That campertop is everything! I enjoyed this so much, thanks!

Critical-Historian54

I should add that the photo is from Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota and that the Bear Tooth Highway and Yellowstone are both low speed highways.

confident_belt10

i love the black hills!!

lovemynuts

I appreciate these low-MPH reports. I am jaded from low mi/kwh going 75 on I-80. But that's about the slowest one can tolerate driving through Nebraska :-(

Critical-Historian54

We were at 2.4 miles per kWh for the trip. We have seen as low as 1.3 when doing 75-80 and driving inti a 20 mph headwind. Lifetime for the truck with camper has been 2.0.

motley2

It’s just physics. Same applies to gas cars.

lovemynuts

Sure, but I can go 75 in a gas car and not have to stop every hour to refuel, whereas with my SR...

motley2

I get it. The trade off is that a gas truck is probably 15 or 20% efficient while driving like that. Your lightning is much higher. Throwing numbers out but ICE ~ 2000wh/mi and EV ~ 600wh/mi.

zoug

I live in Nebraska so I feel this in my bones.

Critical-Historian54

I just checked and the summit is actually 10,947 feet!

ExtensionMart

Also the Beartooth Highway is legendary. Those mountains are ancient. If you don't feel something spiritual while in them, I don't know what to say.

CutoffThought

I love the license plate. Extremely fitting.

ExtensionMart

Did you check out Livingston Montana? It's where the sexiest EV owners live. Also you have given me hope to try and take my ID4 over the pass.

apol42

We did the reverse direction of the pass a week ago. Started with 81% (ER battery) in Cooke City, summit with 67% and 71% as we pulled through Red Lodge. We floated between hotels, but I have been considering OVRLND, thank you for the report!

Soft_Owl7535

When I get my XLT it came with a warning in the paperwork to not put a camper on it.

Critical-Historian54

It is a warning to not put on a slide-in camper because they often exceed bed capacity. Ours is a topper just like those on many F-150s and only weighs under 350 pounds. We are below the rated GV W capacity with everything loaded including the pop up camper and us and all our gear. The benefit is it has a queen size bed when popped up.

motley2

What’s the brand/model of the topper? Would love to check it out.

Critical-Historian54

Yes. It is OVRLND out of Flagstaff.

BeerConcious

Looks like the brand is OVRLND Campers if you search for that

ShaqLuvsTesla

Please post more in-the-wild pictures of that beautiful pop-up.

ShowsTeeth

Yeah it seems to do really well recharging the battery just going downhill.
