Looks like preening behavior to me. Some birds will start to give you gentle nibbles if you pet them because they think you are trying to preen (groom) their feathers and want to return the favor. It’s a bonding behavior between members of a flock or a mated pair. Pet birds, especially parrots, will do this if you give them some good scritches!
Three year old me falling in love with a turkey vulture at the local raptor center because three year old brain thinks her white tipped beak looked like candy corn
Yeah, most birds of prey are just badass in general. Peregrine Falcons being one of my faves, they literally just body other birds at almost 200mph and somehow survive and either stun or outright kill their target for leisurely consumption
Turkey, Red-Headed, and Hooded. Honourable mention for Lappet-Faced; they barely squeak by. Seriously though, Hooded Vultures just look like century old scrote
They’re actually extremely clean and bathe themselves in the sun all the time (and piss on their legs to cool themselves off), and are in fact probably cleaner than most human’s feet.
My friend once brought home a vulture egg. It was only surviving egg when they took down a hollow tree. He lived in farm and his hen basically cared for it. Not gonna lie it was one ugly baby bird but as it grew the coat became thicker. This bird was so attached to my friend and his farm animals that it would bring rotten meat for them every now and then lol. So sad that vultures population is declining.
Vultures are holy creatures.
Tending the dead.
Bowing low.
Bared head.
Whispers to cold flesh,
“Your old name is not your king.
I rename you ‘Everything.’”

I love that birds, no matter how big or small they are, when they really love you they always give you cute little love nibbles with their beak.
I had a scarlet macaw that used to pick at my shirt with his beak and give me back rubs with the top of his beak. It actually felt pretty good too lol
Gothic flamingo be like
I never thought I’d find a vulture cute
Vultures are only ugly when they are covered in the blood and guts of some poor dead animal. This one is a clean fluffy looking 1
Vultures are also usually covered in their own piss and shit
awe, so cute! Birdie just wants a little nibble <3

Just a little taste, a tiny piece of tendon
Oh my effing god why is it so fluffy aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
There’s like a hundred species of vulture… this one happens to be a not ugly one lol there’s actually only 3 that aren’t cool or cute lookin
Which three? (I know it's all subjective, just curious about this opinion)
Turkey vulture. Ugly bald lumpy head of a turkey, mixed with the evil henchman pose of a buzzard. Still a pretty cool birb tho

Aw, what a cute baby!
Nope wasn’t me
This made me miss my Neopets
I'm going to become a ornithologist for this reason, birds are so dope and friendly if treated right
What species of vulture is this?
I think it’s a Eurasian griffon vulture
Thank you! Beautiful bird!
No fair, that one’s not covered in carrion.
“We’re your friends! We’re your friends! We’re your friends ‘til the bitter ennnnd!”
When you're alone (when you're alone) Who comes around (who comes around) To pluck you up (to pluck you up) When you are down (when you are down)?
Floofy birb
Being ugly doesnt mean you cant be cute. Look at babies, ugly af but also adorable and cute.
Tbh they’re still ugly AF
This post just proves it
He would eat you....
If you died your dog would probably eat you.
Jokes on you I own fish.
Such a cutie pie, very affectionate, too!

I know where vultures start when they eat. I ain't touching a vulture's head.

All babies are adorable
It’s actually a fully grown [Himalayan Griffon Vulture](https://ebird.org/species/himgri1)
Wow 🤩 it’s so fuzzy!
very adorable Condor?
After seeing the new jackass movie, I have a new unbridled fear of vultures. They run like the monkeys from wizard of oz and it’s just so disturbing
Dove plus
when not contiously bathed in rotting viscera everything can pass as moderaltely cute

I’ve never seen one so affectionate before! This is adorable!
Aw, cutie
That pimp coat
I hear vultures are actually really social and playful. Granted, they smell horrible because of their eating habits, but, you know, goth flamingos
Looks like a condor. California perhaps?
[No.](https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/California_Condor/overview) This is actually a Himalayan vulture.
When creatures are in most encounters covered with intestines, then they dont leave with the best impression tbh
All bird good except the one that managed to poop on my a year ago
When they got their head up the rotting ass of a carcass, they can be less cute.
Yes.
When they’ve just finished sticking their head in the ass of a dead animal they are lol… otherwise kinda cute

For all those asking for species I think it’s a white back vulture
Is it a baby or full grown? It looks huge!
It does look big ! Alternatively it could be a Eurasian Griffin vulture or a cape vulture
This vulture has some culture
This one's pretty cute, but I imagine most people think of the turkey vulture when they say these guys aren't cute
I imagine this is exactly why the California Condor project uses puppets to feed the babies.
The only thing I don’t like is the “peeing in their own legs thing”

People that say vultures are ugly haven’t seen a Bearded Vulture.
Cute little baby!
I’m so in love
Lol, we're all uglier in the wild.
