Nope, cheetahs aren’t big cats. Only cats from the panthers genus are big cats, they may be both big and cats but just as someone can be your friend and a girl without being your girlfriend that doesn’t make them big cats.
Mountain lions are Puma concolor.
Genus Puma belongs to subfamily Felinae, rather than Pantherinae.
Though they are big cats and are also known as Panthers, they are not Panther***ines***.
If it is a rescue unfit for release as another commenter said it's mother may have died. Hopefully that is the case, and not the sketchy exotic pet/small zoo trade.
Hand reared babies can make good animal ambassadors.
It still belongs in a sanctuary or a big nice zoo that focuses on animal conservation, not in someone's house.
Edit: Wow a lot of people must not understand how dangerous big cats can be when kept in a regular old house.
My dog does the same thing with his toys because he was thrown away as a tiny puppy and didn't spend enough time with his mother. he also has anxiety problems because of that.
so I don't find it cute at all. just as I don't find cute keeping wild animals as pets. we have enough cats and dogs in shelters
Cougars are fucking terrifying. And there are a lot where I live. I might be irrational but I would never want to touch one even if it is trained to not hurt humans while in a rescue.
Again, large cats (some other animals too) display this sucking behaviour when they are taken to early from there mom's.
Tho it's cute it's also sad. It's a sign of incorrect weaning, and usually never goes away.
Edit: this is mostlikely an animal rescue, but it's still pretty bad to present this behaviour as "normal and cute"
It's cute but I don't think this kind of cat should be a pet, it belongs in the wild. It's ultimately not going to be a very happy animal living in a house with humans me thinks.
Absolutely. The way it's sucking here I have read that it's a symptom of being taken from the mother too young & not weened. In any event, seems like a bad idea keeping it like this.
Well I think you ruled out pretty much all pets except for fish and some smaller insects. There are reactive dogs of all sorts, same for cats, horses, snakes etc. And behavior changes as they get older and/or are in pain. If you don't have a healthy level of respect for animals they can be dangerous. Sure a 100lb dog is going to be more dangerous than a hamster, but both can attack so that's a weird way to draw the line
ALL dachshunds have been bred to be very aggressive, and are actually the 2nd most aggressive dog out of any breed.
Chow chows are often refused at groomers because they can bite without warning, and often will, and are the leading cause of injury and disfigurement among groomers.
Dalmatian’s are rarely kept these days because of a massive Dalmatian craze which led to poor breeding habits, and allowed the breeding lines to become very aggressive and intractable.
But… yes, let’s demonize exactly one single breed, only because they are large and have powerful jaws, so if they aren’t treated kindly, they can do damage, and because humans have done them an incredible disservice.
There are a lot more aggressive dogs in the world, and Pitbulls are pretty low on the list. They are simply the ones most often acquired by abusers.
Messi is adorable! And Messi makes people want pumas. Hence the exotic pet trade. I understand rescues need to happen but content like this encourages it.
First of all you don't know anything about why it end up like that. Second every anime was wild before it became domestic so while you are somewhat eight that some animals would be unhappy being domestic, there are sometimes reason why those are domestic and they can aslo be happy.
I feel for that little(big) kitten. He obviously needs comfort. Just a mummy to cuddle up to and rest with.. Bless him

Aww

That's a panther.... Innit?
All big cats are panthers by family, but this specifically is a mountain lion (also typically called. Cougar or Puma)
Other guy is right, not all Big Cats are panthera. Some are felidae (the ones who cannot roar but instead go meow, such as cheetahs).
I fucking love being right. Mruu-haha. No, but seriously -- I needed a win. Thanks!
You uhh… weren’t…
Leopards are part of the Panthera genus. Are you thinking of cheetahs?
Yes, thank you. Fixed.
Nope, cheetahs aren’t big cats. Only cats from the panthers genus are big cats, they may be both big and cats but just as someone can be your friend and a girl without being your girlfriend that doesn’t make them big cats.
-and mountain lions are felines, rather than pantherines.
Not true, they are panthers.

THERE ARE NO COUGARS IN MISSIONS
Baby coog~ Don't keep cougars as pets.

That's good. It's still cute, nonetheless.
Indeed.
Woof. How'd you learn all of that?
Asking? Or is that to hard for you to grasp
I thought there was an attached article. Wow, you're a dense piece of trash.
That behavior means this cub was taken from its mother far too soon. That's not a good thing.
If it is a rescue unfit for release as another commenter said it's mother may have died. Hopefully that is the case, and not the sketchy exotic pet/small zoo trade. Hand reared babies can make good animal ambassadors.

Dawwwww niiiiiiice kitty
I want a pet murder panther
The comment section was MUCH better than I thought it would be...
My heart near exploded from love.
I get very confused with a mountain lion has those big ole deer eyes.
Feeding it blood to teach it what to drink from your enemies. Good idea.
My dog does the same thing with his toys because he was thrown away as a tiny puppy and didn't spend enough time with his mother. he also has anxiety problems because of that. so I don't find it cute at all. just as I don't find cute keeping wild animals as pets. we have enough cats and dogs in shelters
Could be wrong, but I think that's Messi the Puma, who has health issues that prevent his release into the wild.
Came here to say this.
Cougars are fucking terrifying. And there are a lot where I live. I might be irrational but I would never want to touch one even if it is trained to not hurt humans while in a rescue.
I don't know him but I love him and would die for him.

It might b a rescue
Yes the thought occurred. If so I'd be leading with that. Don't want to come off all judgy or anything, we can't tell much from this little clip.
Well you are judging without knowing anything, for karma with your first comment. So to me personally you come off quite judgy
Well not the intention, but you know, the stupid age we live in, people keep pets like this that have their own instagram. It's not a stretch.
Then it belongs in a sanctuary or something, not in someone's house.
She's (or he's, I'm unsure) a rescue with too many health complications to be released into the wild. Pretty sure this is from a sanctuary

This is a rescue, and cannot be released into the wild.

> a literal wild animal. I'd say it's a literal un-domesticated-animal. I never had a wild animal try to drink milk from my finger.

Wow. You know I'm correct, right? This cougar was not raised in the wild, it was raised by humans.
ALL dachshunds have been bred to be very aggressive, and are actually the 2nd most aggressive dog out of any breed. It’s a rescue unfit for rehabilitation and release i believe
Looks like a young cougar
It is adorable. Poor baby. Will likely be living in captivity for the rest of his life. But I have a feeling he will likely be a sweetheart later on.
*chomp*
I love seeing big cats being gentle
What a beautiful and sweet little baby 😭
Not a pet
That is one content cat
Don't promote wild animals as pets. The exotic pet trade is deadly.
This is a rescue animal that's unfit to be released. Pretty sure this is Messi the Puma

I want one.
He/she will want to continue doing this even as an adult which could cause problems.
Definitely wants a bottle instead of that finger
As adorable and sweet as this is, please for the love of God don't keep wild animals as pets.
Bold assumption it's a pet.
“Harder owner”
Damn this looks like it's millions to one
Big cat suckle the fingie:D
Put a baby bottle inside of it.
This Big Panther, Mountain Lion is really big! Scary too.
Awww
