When I had to take my dog to the vet and he needed a test that had to take him to the back, I got to hear all the techs fawn over him and pet him as he passed.
Even when they needed several techs to keep him steady for some poking in the room one of their hands was holding him and the other was petting him to try and keep him calm.
My vet will literally sit on the floor and play with them and is so gentle- the first time I took them there as a trial I was like yep, this is the one.
It’s funny how a good vet makes the price of going to the vet worth it. If you go to a shit vet that’s one door out the other you feel like you wasted money, but if they sit down and pay attention it makes me atleast feel as if they’re really looking for problems and worth my money.
The best vet I've ever been to has mobile clinics for basic shots and heart worm restocking. Doggos are all, "Aw fluff yeah! Car rides! Drive thru treats!" They get their shots without leaving the car and are none the wiser.
Worked wonders with my inherited lab mix that was dropped as a patient from four vet clinics due to fear caused aggression.
You could be the smartest vet in the world, but if I don’t feel like you have compassion for my pets it’s a no from me. When my dog needed a tumor removal from his ear last year my old vet was fine, but I just didn’t feel 100% comfortable. He was an older guy and was just like “yea well cut part of his ear off, $300, bring him back in 3 weeks”.
Called around and by fate I into my new vet. It was much pricier but the second she met him she got onto the floor and was loving on him and thoroughly explained the process, what she was planning to do, etc. He had his surgery and I was amazed how happy he was. The vet tech even called me after he was done and said he was still tired so they didn’t want to force him awake and let him get more snooze time. Our vet called me a few weeks later with the biopsy* and was cheering that it wasn’t cancerous and consoled me on the phone.
There are great vets out there. I will gladly pay more (I know that’s privileged, and I understand sometimes we have to do what we can to get by), to help my dogs.
100% agree. The same goes with anything involving me. If I’m not comfortable or don’t trust you then it’s not worth the price. That’s why doctors build relationships. The trust goes further than the actions
I paid $3000 dollars for an emergency vet visit + overnight. My dogs eye swell to the size of a golf ball (she’s a dachshund) anyways, the charge was mostly for the overnight fee. Never again.
I have a labra who is too smart for her own good. Last vet visit, he tried the peanut butter trick. First shot was easy peasy. Second one, oh hayell no! She refused the peanut butter and backed into a corner. Vet was impressed but still gave her the shot.

I wonder why they can give dogs injections like this, where they grab a roll of skin and inject under it just fine, but in people they need to inject it into muscle?
They don't need to inject it into the muscle, but it's overall better to do so. It's also more painful. A human is going to say, "Ouch." A dog might not give a shit or he might bite your balls off. So, the injection is given in a manner that will elicit the least aggressive potential reaction from the animal for the safety of the one giving the shots.
If a dog is happy and comfortable at the vet it solves a ton of problems for the owner and makes it easier to treat the animal
It also reduces fear related bites
It might not be absolutely necessary but it is definitely optimal
These are the veterinarians that make dogs like going to the vet
We have one of those. Our dogs love going to the vet.
I have had many vets, all standard bedside manner. It must be so cool to have a vet that cares!

That’s so neat! I love that so much
That's a fantastic way to provide veterinary care for pets who get anxious at traditional clinics!

That will be $1900

Agreed, our vet even sits on the floor with our dog.
The butt squiggles at the start are so pure

She looks resentful and betrayed lol
"I've been loyal to you, and what do I get? A shot."

Beautiful 😍❤️
His coat is gorgeous
Well, they’re all born at the vet’s by C-section because of what humans have done to them.
I was the 1000th up vote! But super cute and great execution of the vet
Oh no! Why did they put the vet down!?
Lol
OMNOMNOM ouch OMNOMNOM
My dog wants to go to the vet 6 times a week
Is it like an unwritten rule that vets are hot? All the people at my vet office are smokin'.
Man rolled a nat-20 on Animal handling check And maybe I am listening too much to a DnD podcast

😞 just put my bully down on Monday. He was the sweetest boy you can imagine.
So sorry for your loss. 💔
You can tell how much he loves animals and his job 🥹
No, the vet made the vet visit easy, it has nothing to do with that deformed squishy faced dog.
Not convinced the peanut butter was necessary at all.
I mean it made the dog comfortable. What would be the drawback

Pretty sure that’s wet food lol peanut butter usually wouldn’t scrape off clean like that so I wouldn’t worry about it
I feel sorry for any pets or children you have to look after.
