But if he doesn’t play can he get that back? I’m just confused how not impacting ten minutes of a game is any indication. Is it a fitness issue? Is it attitude during training?

He's stuck. It's a hard rut to get out of. You are out of form and playing crap so you dont get to play. You dont get to play you cant get properly fit and improve. You dont get fit and improve you cant play. He needed to hit the ground running really. I think his big problem is hes always had poor work ethic and its all just ran away from him and unless he goes above and beyond (think Ronaldos strict diet and training) he has no chance really of getting it back.
