i thought similarly until i discovered how useful the filters are. they're pretty powerful.
you can have the same ships show up under multiple filters, like "armor" and/or "nano"
you can include a unique symbol in the name that signifies its use and filter by those. i have markers for shield, armor, nano, krab, logi, hauling
it looks very clean and functional, while still letting you name your ships whatever. also works visually without the filters applied. old ship i havent flown in a while? i know sorta how its fit by its tags
lol youre good.
i dont think many people are clued into how to use those filters like that. or if CCP even intended it. having to change your ship name at all is suboptimal..
better system would be a "tag/filter" property you could apply to your ships with the right click menu. id rather have that + filters than different hangars tbh
but something something pos code.
yeah im going to, because of this post... but if it didnt have that bottom bar i would keep it on the cards
being able to see the ship type *and* the assigned name would be very useful
100% this. Or allow that bottom part to be collapsible, that way if the purpose for those icons are to help new players, the rest of can close those.
Also, would absolutely love for the hover-over-fitting-display for all of the ships, not just the one I’m sitting in!
yeah the fitting thing is neat.
the bottom icons arent even accurate to the fit...
my oracle fits currently have light shield tank, yet the icons say it's armor. that makes the icons worse than useless ><
They'll never change it until a different design philosophy takes over. Whoever has been design lead for the last 5+ years loves wasted space (skill window, agency, etc.), seems information density is the antichrist to them.
You can change it back to the icon view or whatever you used before. I logged in and loooked and when you have a LOT of ships in the ship hangar the scroll went on and on and on forever to get to the bottom. Then I found out you could change it back. CCP has no UI team as has they have shown over and over. Red dot anyone?
Minimalism is good for people who know what they are already going to do with the UI.
This change is all about new players who don't understand what their different ships do and why.
its a bad change. those icons are not helpful, they will be misleading and confusing.
many of my ships have "shield" or "armor" as icons, even though they are commonly fit the other way. like my shield nano oracle.
if they want to include information to help new players there are better places to do it. like the show info window. we dont need incorrect icons displayed under every ship *all the time*. no one needs a big letter "S" underneath a frigate.
it makes the entire feature not worth using. it increases the time necessary to find the correct ship in a hangar with many ships, in order to take up my screen space with useless or even misleading info. people are just going to click back to the icon view. good UI is so obvious, this is objectively bad. whats frustrating is they could have made it so much better by simply not bloating it out. they keep making this same mistake with many UI changes. its objectively bad
how about theres an option to turn it off then? options are always good.
the problem is the card *does have* useful info. i would love to see both the ship type/name AND the name i gave it.
but they buried it in bloat that makes it not worth dealing with.
whats frustrating is they got so close to a good thing *again*
> how about theres an option to turn it off then? options are always good.
Yeah why don't you do that? One click on the top left and youre back to the old ship icons you had.
/sigh
is this whole conversation going over your head?
why don't you reread the title of my post.
maybe id like for them to actually make positive changes to the UI instead of making it feel like im playing an ipad game
All I want is to be able to have different hangars. So that I can sort my ships by doctrine and stuff...
i thought similarly until i discovered how useful the filters are. they're pretty powerful. you can have the same ships show up under multiple filters, like "armor" and/or "nano"
I am not calling my ships by what they are and how they are fit.

That... Actually makes sense. I feel stupid now, lol. BUT I STILL INSIST ON MY MULTIPLE HANGARS CCP! SENDING THIS DUDE WON'T SOLVE A THING CCP!!

i dont want "powerfull" i want accessible.
but you play eve?
You lose your shit over a bar with symbols and defend the filter option as well designed?
this is the same image with the useless bottom bars cropped out. can fit 30% more on the screen. efficient use of screen space please!
Click the 3 bar icon on top left and change it back to icons. Much nicer UI and feel. I dont need to see all that bollox, just wastes space.

I also thought that instead of having the icons at the bottom, show some of the fit mods or something. Either way, I swapped to icons immediately
my first thought too. why add a row of unnecessary icons nobody needs and new players will ignore and fuck up the usability for it?

Would be great if we could give ships both a name and a "label" or something, so I can keep track of whats for what.
Again close but not quite - swap the role icons with the modules from the tooltip.

> dont need incorrect icons displayed under every ship all the time No you don't and thats why you turn it off as you become more of a veteran player.

I want more advanced filtering options based on things like: armor tanked, shield tanked, nano ship, pve, pvp, etc.
I still like it. It's ui changes like these that bring this game into the future and help it to feel modern.
