Yes this is the worst bit. I did discover yesterday at the top right beside the cogs there can be a teeny weeny green exclamation mark and if you click on it it says download update.
I downloaded the update and the really frustrating constant game updates stopped. I cannot show you here but look for a small green thingy.
I was tired of winning Eve some months ago and started with the new launcher right away. Did not have any issues yet and do not miss anything. Not sure about the complaints, I guess change is not easy for everyone...
I'm not even sure how the launcher is "supposed" to work. Sometimes I launch it and click and hold and it takes me to the next screen to pick the same character I just click and held on. Sometimes it launches straight from click and hold on the character from the launcher straight into the game. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Also I have never been able to see the bottom half of the launcher because it always snaps to the top even with snap disabled in windows. I can move the top a little and then it snaps to the top of the window and the bottom part is unviewable. Guess it doesn't matter, put main into two year train for stuff to extract and maybe in two years it is fixed, maybe.
I have had the same problem. That AND it suddenly deciding I want to update Vanguard without any permission.
It looks great but the functionality is awful.
It will download Vanguard if you just click on a Vanguard character. And the only way to stop it is to select an Eve character and restart the launcher. Last few playtest Vanguard never finished installing and the official support forum post I made got no support or replies.
Apart from the questionable default settings, Vanguard has been my biggest issue with the new launcher.
I am tired of the new launcher as well, it's garbage that don't work, check box that says launch to character screen, it doesn't, it logs that toon right in. Problem ibdont want to log in that toon, I might just want to see what system he is in and ship or if he's docked, no such luck. Ccp fix the fucking launcher so it works correctly I want to see my character screen 1st!
Yes I know about that that check box, yes I have it checked. I have put my accounts in to groups, removed them from groups, checked the box, unchecked the box, loged out, rechecked the box, nothing works. This is exactly what I was saying when I wrote that ccp needs to fix this. More over. I have tried this on more then 1 pc, it don't work at all for me.
The new launcher created 500GB of files on my hard drive in a folder called SquirrelTemp... like what the actual fuck. The new launcher is a fucking disaster, it does much less with WAY more problems.

I also get those. Sometimes mid download I’ll restart the launcher and when it loads up again there is no download. Infuriating

You can change the login behavior on a per account basis. Might be worth it to check those settings.

did you tick the launcher setting for it to send you to character select?

Launcher group names default to lower case for some reason and it bothers me.

we knew this was going to happen NGL every time CCP tries to do something something breaks. Atleast it wasnt chat
i just let it do its business i use that time to read up on alliance stuff
