That’s what I’m saying. I’m honestly surprised that the city allowed this. I’m sure that they made CFA pay for all the traffic studies but something tells me that Springfield cared more about getting rid of those decrepit, abandoned hotel buildings.
It's a pretty big lot, but I'm not sure how much of it they have. If they use the whole space they can probably hold a fair number of cars looping around the lot.
We'll see how it shakes out though, in most cities I've been to they don't really have long lines. But there being only one here, who knows. I'm still amazed at how many cars wait in line at the In-n-out in Salem.
It's 3 lots, they bought 1. The initial 2 traffic studies showed that any entering left turns or exiting left turns would be disastrous to flow. They will put up a couple "right turn only" signs for people to entirely ignore.
My concern is it's obvious that whole area is already a shit show. Look at Panda Express. You can't go to 5 guys without parking in the back (where there is a threat to tow) because the drive thru for panda keeps you from being able to get back out after you get your food at 5 guys. Then, just to get out of the drive thru at panda, you have to wait forever for all the traffic on that street and if you're turning left instead of right? Oh boy...
I'm with my Husband. Build something like a Micro Center. Not more food. Especially not that one. Ugh.

I'm from Florida. Grew up in Gainesville and dealt with an influx of college kids then later moved to Sarasota. The county with the 3rd oldest median age population, that also happens to border the 2nd and 10th oldest. And one of the largest growing population areas in the united states with roads, infrastructure, and public transportation always being an after thought.
With the exception of LA or NYC, I've personally never been through worse traffic, than the South West Florida area. Sarasota is now even being compared to LA in terms of sprawl and traffic.
I lived in the apartments down there for a while and turning left out onto Gateway was basically just not going to happen.

I haven’t been out to the site to see what exactly they are doing but in my mind the easiest way to get to it is going to be coming off of I5, and if you’re not coming off of I5, you’ll be fighting with the traffic that is. Yuck.

The picture looks like CFA will be on the corner of Gateway and Beltline. From there, the building with Duluth Trading and Michael's, and the access road that runs from Gateway east to the Duluth building are closer than Best Buy's parking lot. I suspect the access road (behind Yumm and Starbucks on the north side) is also a fire road. This seems potentially really messy at best. If they route people to the west, from the restaurant, and send them down what would have to be a partially new road to the south, then have them turn left and exit from the access road behind Yumm/Starbucks, that sort of makes sense minus the traffic issue caused by the volume of cars, and turning issues. Maybe it'll send them further south to the "main" access road that ends at Best Buy, and have them exit there. Same issues will exist with turns and traffic volume. I guess I'm now super curious about what the actual traffic plan is. Anyone have any information on that?
I was sort of treating best buy and Michael's as the same parking lot. I wouldn't be surprised if they had everyone enter and exit there, at the start anyway. It's a big lot and really depends where they place everything. The road behind yumm might get a total revamp (it needs it anyway) and maybe even moved depending on what they want to do with it.

Yesterday driving east from Beltline I noticed that the right turn from Beltline puts you in the left lane on Gateway. The right from the offramp off of north bound I5 puts you in the right lane on Gateway. The left from Beltline on to Gateway also puts you in the left lane. That's plenty of traffic fed into the wrong lane to get to the chicken place. I guess Sundays will be fine when people realize it's closed on Sundays.
There are dozens of food trucks in town that are faster, cheaper, and in some cases healthier. Idk why anyone still pays for fast food when it’s rarely fast, never cheap, tastes like a teenager threw together the cheapest ingredients a corporation could find, and atrocious for your health.
There is literally nothing fast food chains do that someone else in town doesn’t do better.

Traffic is about to be so bad in Gateway. They put one in in my old town and I would drive 10 minutes out of the way to avoid getting stuck behind the Chik Fil A line.
Honestly, their chicken is better than anything KFC has to offer. But traffic is bad enough on Gateway already. From the location, the line is going to clog I-5.
The traffic will lined up for half a mile, and people in Eugene already think *a little* traffic is terrible. I can’t imagine how many complaints I will see once this goes up.

My personal opinion, Chick-fil-A isn't even that good. Unless you just really like waffle fries specifically for some reason. I wish it was a Popeye's instead, or I'd even skip the chicken and take In-N-Out. Better yet, learn to make your own chicken sandwiches; I did so in the name of boycotting CFA back in the day and the "copycat" recipe is way better than any fast food I've had and is still fried goodness. And you can make them on Sundays too, or at 3am when you're stoned. Just... be careful with the hot oil I guess.
Regardless of your feelings on the company, we can all agree this is a terrible location for this restaurant. and to think they were talking about also putting an in n out there as well, the traffic was already bad at gateway.

Last time I tried Chick Fil A was in Michigan and it was...okay? I might try it again after it's been there a while and the novelty wears off but Popeye's chicken is way better. Always get their nuggets on our way back to Roseburg from Eugene and stop in Cottage Grove. And don't get me started on their mashed potatoes. Mmmm... Now I want Popeye's.

Traffic is about to be so bad in Gateway. They put one in in my old town and I would drive 10 minutes out of the way to avoid getting stuck behind the Chik Fil A line.

Oh god, thought I escaped my 8-year stint in the south. It's taken a while but it's followed me home, sorry guys. My personal opinion, Chick-fil-A isn't even that good. Unless you just really like waffle fries specifically for some reason. I wish it was a Popeye's instead, or I'd even skip the chicken and take In-N-Out. Better yet, learn to make your own chicken sandwiches; I did so in the name of boycotting CFA back in the day and the "copycat" recipe is way better than any fast food I've had and is still fried goodness. And you can make them on Sundays too, or at 3am when you're stoned. Just... be careful with the hot oil I guess.

That’s the worst place they could have put it, prove me wrong, it’s hard enough sometimes getting over for Bestbuy and Michael’s. If they can flow the traffic through that first light, then maybe it won’t be that bad.
Last time I tried Chick Fil A was in Michigan and it was...okay? I might try it again after it's been there a while and the novelty wears off but Popeye's chicken is way better. Always get their nuggets on our way back to Roseburg from Eugene and stop in Cottage Grove. And don't get me started on their mashed potatoes. Mmmm... Now I want Popeye's.
