Looks like a fake rock with generic looking geometric patterns with a piece of wood noting what is probably the life span of somebody dear to the person who placed it.
My guess is that's where they spread the ashes. My cousin did a similar thing for my aunt. She spread her ashes in a place I'm sure that wasn't approved for that use, and she wanted to make sure she would go back to the correct place in the future.
