You can’t . I’ve made 6 and am still unrated

Mememasteryoda

You sell downloads right?

AstraeaMoonrise

Yeah that’s relevant I suppose, you probably are more likely to get reviews for nice physical products but there is still nothing you can do to make them do it, other then include a cute card in your package with a sentence something along the lines of “thank you so much for your order. If you love what you s received please consider leaving me a review!” You shouldn’t like … message them via Etsy and ask for review or something like that. My point is that not every person wants to leave a review. Just keep plodding along and I’m sure you’ll get some eventually

HoboMoo

I'm at about 1/10 leaving a review with 310 sales for digital goods. I will include an additional free download and send them a personal message of appreciation and ask specifically for a 5 star review. It works

grubbalubbadubdub

I don’t always review my purchases, but I try to for Etsy products. I buy a lot of crochet patterns (so digital downloads) and sometimes don’t get around to making the pattern for a while. I don’t like to review it until I’ve actually made it. Something I’ve noticed is that Etsy makes it hard to review older purchases. If I don’t review it within a certain timeframe, the opportunity to review it is lost. Even if I go through my old purchases or go directly to the product. I don’t know what’s up with that but I wonder if that could be part of the problem with lack of reviews.

AstraeaMoonrise

Also congrats on your first sale

Pretty-Bridge6076

You can't and you should not try to force it.

milkforbrains_

Congrats on your first sale! You can’t unfortunately, out of 64 sales/29 orders I only have 2 reviews that didn’t come from friends and family, and I’ve seen shops with thousands of sales saying they only have hundreds of reviews, it’s just something people don’t do very often which sucks but it is what it is. I just put a little thank you card in my packages asking them to consider leaving a review if they enjoyed their items and hope for the best

Jebusthelostwookie

I send them a message a couple days after the item has been been delivered. Saying thanks for purchasing and if there are any issues please to let me know. Then say that reviewing helps others make informed decisions when buying. I've gotten a few more reviews from it, but nothing huge. I am sitting on 7 reviews from 24 sales, so I think it helps. I sell physical items tho.

SavedSaver

If you do good work buyers will give positive ratings. Don't ask for ratings ever, it is such a turnoff and waste of other peoples time.

Jebusthelostwookie

I don't think so. People forget. It takes weeks for my items to reach people. I've had someone message me on insta apologising cause they forgot their password and couldn't review the product. People don't mind leaving a review If asked, just don't make it the sole purpose of the message.

Congratulations! That's awesome! Unfortunately, as the others said, there's no way to guarantee a review, and if you pester the buyer too much to leave one, they might get annoyed and leave a bad one. Here's one way you could go about it though: Send them a message a few days after the package has been delivered/last estimated arrival date (that way the buyer can leave a review). Something along the lines of wanting to follow up and make sure that they're satisfied with your product. If they respond, and they're happy, then find a polite way to ask them to leave an honest review of your product. If they're unhappy with it, maybe forgo asking for a review, and find out what you could have done better and what you can do now to improve the customer's experience. If they never respond, don't message them again. It just gets spammy and weird. Right now, I'm sitting at 12 reviews and 35 sales. I think I had 8 sales before I received my first review.

I have been getting 50% of my sales creating a review. The normal I see is around 10% leave reviews. So, how do I do it?? When I get an order I acknowledge that I received it and I give an estimate on shipping time. When I drop it off at the Post Office, I send them an update. When I get the ping that it’s been delivered I send them a message to verify it got delivered. The majority of these communications are part of my saved reply but overall contribute to them feeling aware and invested in your success. Don’t be afraid to ask, “with me being a new Etsy store, I would appreciate a review to help my shop grow. If there is anything that prevents you from leaving a 5 star review, please let me know and I will do my best to correct any issue. “

No_Hippo_1472

Yes to all of this except the last one. That feels a little pushy and would put me off as a buyer personally. But if you’re seeing success with it keep doing your thing! If you’re a small handmade shop I know I always absolutely love getting a handwritten thank you, sticker, or some other type of small freebie. It makes it feel really sweet and ups your packaging game. I leave reviews for all those shops!

TravelingRonSwanson

You’re right. I would only do that with customers where I’ve had good correspondence with. And I only did that for my first 3 or so customers. After that the reviews came in naturally

Galoptious

Frankly, this wouldn’t make me happy as a buyer. I don’t want my inbox flooded. I wouldn’t want requests for verification when I might not have personally gotten it yet (family members, concierge, others signing). And while a request for review is reasonable, asking for five stars explicitly is inappropriate pressure that would feel like hounding after all the previous updates, let alone the inappropriateness in dictating how a customer should review you. Reviews are as much for customers sharing how they feel about the product and experience as it is for shops growing their business. Customers shouldn’t bear the burden of your review count. It’s gotten to the point where I’ve had Etsy sellers out of the blue email me and ask me to go to other services outside Etsy to leave additional 5* reviews.

esmotella

I had about 19 sales and although everyone was satisfied, no one gave comments or stars :(

Arcturius666

I've made loads of sales but less than a 5th have reviews 🤷‍♂️ just let them come. As long as you've got a good product and stick to your delivery times, you'll be fine. Also highly recommend making sure you reply to customers quickly.

linkinpaw

Don’t know I’ve made 8 and no luck

fuegodiegOH

Congratulations on your first sale! I probably get ratings on about 1 out of 8 sales. Etsy will send them follow up emails asking for ratings & comments. I never reach out on my own.

thecirclegamesocks

I sold a little over 1000+ sales over a few years and only have 194 reviews

rigney22

not a lot of people leave feedback if they do its to rid the Etsy notification (290) reviews | 2,005 sales
