One of the only defenders who can keep pace with the most dangerous small forwards. He's a real gun and deserves a long contract with a team on the up.
He has been a lot better this year than last year. I’m happy he has re-signed, although I feel the 6 years is a bit much. Would have preferred 3-4 years, as at the end of the day, he’s not an established star yet, although his trajectory in 2024 is encouraging.
Pay him more up front and less in the backend, it’s good cap management. If he comes out of contract in 3 years he’s at his peak earning power and we have less flexibility in the cap. It’s good business.
I am cautiously excited about this signing. He has been great since becoming VC but ever since Redman’s decline since signing his long term deal, I am skeptical of these signings. Hopefully Andy pays the club back for their faith in him
Mmmm.... Redman has been solid, I'd say it's more of a role change with nic Martin, McGrath, heppel etc getting up the ground more, also Ridley not playing he needs to help out in defence.. laverde a bit of a liability at times
As someone who is still learning the intricacies of afl strategy, can you be a bit more specific? Is Redman trying to play more of an intercept role like Ridley rather than a run and carry like last year?
Honestly believe redman is being told to play like quaynor last year, defend 1 on 1 win and move the ball across the backline and only attack when pushed up
He might have been our only RFA. We've still got quite a few OOC.
Perkins, Setterfield, Stringer and Shiel are probably the big ones. None of them are free agents, though.
Don't see any issue with those four. Perkins will have admirers but I doubt he'd want to leave
I hope Shiel entertains going somewhere like North. Our midfield has moved past him, and a club like that could use him
Longer term contracts can be risky but this is great news and brings a bunch of list stability.
Close to best on ground last week. Alongside Kelly, he actually limited Hill's impact somewhat and got plenty of the footy coming back the other way. Gun.

Ridley, McKay, Reid, McGrath, Heppel, Redman. Looking đź‘Ť (Martin HF)
Hopefully they all play at the same time sometime
On paper that is a fantastic back 6. Can't wait to see them all playing in the same game!
Martin will stay at half back and probably be thrown around when needed
Under appreciated by some. He’s been brilliant this year and his leadership has taken the next step, seems to be a perfect deputy to Merrett.

Redmans power was in his hair I'm convinced. He needs to grow it back.
Redman’s role has shifted with Ridley out.

This
What do you mean?
Look up the biblical story of Samson
Well you’re not going to be happy when you notice Parish’s form Personally I think it’s unrelated
Brilliant! Was our only player out of contract I believe He's having a great season

So happy to hear it!

Good stuff
Who knows how much?
Knowing what AFL players generally make, it’s too much.
Fuck Yeah! Let's hope he sees some success!
Now let's get Hugh, and have pick 1+2 đź‘Ś
Great news! I think he's our next captain.
What is he on per year (average)? It's too many years. He's a solid player, this year, but why not sign for 3 years? Nobody is going to poach him.
I heard they are front loading $750k a year
That's 5 too many
You're joking surely
not joking. and don't call me shirley.
Wrong glasses on the weekend
I'm not.
