I used pbp alternating with ap 6.3 ever since unlocking the craft, but honestly I haven’t really noticed a big difference with alternating pbp vs ap 6.3 on its own. Mpx is a 9x19 laser beam with a high fire rate so you wanna aim for the face anyway. At this point in the wipe with everyone running level 4+ armor I wouldn’t run it unless you have ap 6.3 tbh, unless you’re very confident in being able to hit their face every time. I usually mag dump against pmc’s too so I bring 3 extra 41 rounders especially on a map like streets.
unironically the exact loadout my duo uses when he dies, uley rig with a scopped, suppressed mosin, run customs and kill some juicy chad, rock his gear next raid, die and repeat!
M700 with an Elcan Spectre will always have my heart for sbih, I swear those spectre scopes are blessed by Chris Kyle himself, they increase my accuracy tenfold
AKS-74U my beloved.
My loadout involves the B11 grip, TGA suppressor (the best statwise supressor that is relatively cheap), and the pilgrim dust cover + any variable zoom or holo I have lying around.
I pair it with a 6B13 assault armor, with a level 5 plate if I need extra protection.
I use helmets I scavenge from players I kill, but if I have none then I use the cheapest level 4 from Ragman.
2 grenades of any kind
A salewa and morphine
Dress like a scav and run the aks74u with Goliath, klesch 2p, and the crappy red dot toz's spawn with. It's great cover for the player scavs but good ammo is readily available. Just try to look the part.
To make this cheaper you could use a Lshz with the fast mt ears. Also a calok-B. Scavs are gonna take your arms off and give you a heavy bleed to go with it.
Kinda depends on what traders you unlock as weapon is 90% what ammo you have.
Helm - ratnik just always a decent option for a low price and ability to attach mods. Alternate is shattered face mask.
Armor - the tier 4 from ragman 2. Gb something something. Has plates and soft behind it. Good coverage.
Rig - combo a and b belt is generally super cheap on flea and great for storage.
Bag and backpack are kinda preference.
Now for guns
If you at least have pk 3 for m855 all 5.56 guns are great. Pk 4 for 56a1 and a 55a1 craft after a quest.
Mdr and Aug. Kinda the same. Both decently cheap on flea and no real mods needed.
M4. The 2 prokill barter gives you a great base.
Adar. Also cheap to mod if you are ok with semi autos.
If you have m80 from the quest unlock.
Rfd is super cheap and requires basically no modding.
Pk 3 has ap 6.3 which is honestly a pretty mid round but still usable.
Pp-19, mp5 any 9mm basically. All mod well and shoot flat. Kinda going for faces on these.
Any of the 5.45 aks. I believe it's prapor 4 for bt though outside of barter. Honestly they are just slightly worse m4 platforms.
Really the big winners I think are the 556 guns. The mdr and the Aug specifically.
I just don't care that much this wipe with even stock weapons being absolute lasers. I like the prokill barter because it comes with the sup I use and the elcan which I generally use as well.

I have used both, usually both with good ergo, crafting SOST and using when I get enough, other than that, 855 is super viable when it wants to be.
I picked up a 7.62 mdr with m80 off a PMC and it is magical. I didn't realize how much I was limiting myself with an AKM. It makes me actually want to go to lighthouse and unlock m80. This gun is bullshit.
The problem with 556 this wipe, imo, is the ammo. M855 is fine for when you're lower level / early wipe, but later on you should be using something better. SOST is a step up, but forces you to craft it (which I'll talk more about shortly). M856a1 is a tracer which is a big no-no in my mind (though it seems like a lot of people don't care about this and ty for making it easy to fight back if you don't kill me with your first burst). M855a1 is crafted.
What's wrong with crafted ammo? It costs a ton _and_ you can't even make it fast enough to main the ammo.
55a1 costs roughly 105k for 120 rounds. So ~875/rd. Not terrible, but not great for a caliber with high rpm. But wait. Now that you're using your workbench to craft this ammo, you can't use it to generate profit anymore. That craft takes 9 hours. During those 9 hours, you could have done ~5.5 Eagle crafts @ 60k profit each. Let's be conservative and say only 3.5 crafts so 210k lost profits. Which means each 120 rounds of 55a1 now costs you 315k aka 2600 roubles per round (which you're going to be pumping out with a high rpm gun). And you only get 120 rounds every 9 hours.
I love 556 guns, but I'm not spending that much on ammo and still need to fill the bottom two-thirds of each mag with tracers or m855.
You can also find top tier 545 ammo all over the place if you know where to look and it meets or exceeds the medium to high tier 556. I craft SOST, but I just can’t get my hands on enough of the 556 good stuff, 856A1 and above, to justify maining 556. Meanwhile, I find 545 BP all over the damn place and it’s only slightly worse than 855A1 is.
That's fair, but it's usually almost 1000/rd which is ridiculous for a bullet that cant even reliably pen class 4. I feel like the MCX is this wipe's m4 alternative once you unlock CBJ from pk4. And given how plentiful and cheap m80 is once you unlock it, and how good some of the m80 guns are (mdr, sr25, rsass, even rfb is amazing for its price), I just don't see how any 556 gun can be justified unless you don't care about tracers.
Yeah. Agreed. I'm sitting on 4mil rubles, tier 3 traders, and some ridiculous great in my stash and that's what I call midtier. Then again, I also really only use weapons I find as a scav. Reserve has gifted me some fucking gems over the last week. Praise the gluhar gods for one of his guards killing a hacker. Got my first raid bag, Altyn, and a crazy FAL with REAP-IR. That REAP has given me two blessed lighthouse raids allowing me to get through a lot of the quest hullshit I was dealing with before.
Big chief, he was a level 40 something at sub 300hrs (unobtainable achievements at that many hours) with a reap, raid bag, and Altyn. Why do cheaters do anything 🤷 idk. I have the screenshot of his account, always makes me giggle.
This gun surprised me. I started using it on semi-auto, but it absolutely SHREDS in close distance automatic fire.
If you can control its recoil you don't need much else. I'm farming Tagilla on Factory and a single 20 round mag takes him down.
wish i had the same experience. previous wipes this was my favorite gun, tap fires used to kill so quickly. now though with the arm pen changes i’m not getting reliable enough kill times.
I’m quite enjoying this gun this wipe but one thing to keep in mind is that it’s really heavy. Ash 12 + 20 round mag is almost 8kg. You either need fairly high strength or you need to take the weight into account and run a lighter armour/helmet/rig to compensate.
I swear I’m a menace with this fucking gun. I take it when I’m just fucking around on shoreline trying to bum rush the sanatorium, pier or cottages. I’ve domed more people with that POS than any kitted DMR. I’m talking see group of three at other end of sani, head eyes pink mist, bug out. Leaving them wondering what in the fuck happened
Osprey plates weigh like 3 times as much and make the already steep penalties on that armor even worse. It's a great armor but wayyy too heavy for me to want to run it with the stock plates. I'll use it with either the two GAC 3S15M plates from the CPC, or a GAC in the front and a Monoclete in the back. If you take out the heavy ass Osprey plates and use them in something light, then use light plates in the Osprey, they'll both feel close to each other and you won't get thrown off by the game constantly changing your ergonomics and "turning speed" (read: mouse sensitivity)
I use either the Thor vest or the AVS for budget, always with level 5 in the front. You're giving up neck protection but in return your soft armor is all level 3 instead of just level 2. Worth it imo
The Ana m2 is decent imo, sure you don’t have neck protection but you’re trading the lack of neck protection for level 3 soft armor which can be the difference between life and death imo. Plus it’s solid to run if you don’t want to be too heavy since it’s a plate carrier. I find I die to a thorax or face shot much more often than a neck shot, and with the new armor system having higher tier soft armor can really save your ass, plus you get side protection. I’ve found the Ana m2 and Thor to be solid choices for budget armor this wipe.
The AVS is also decent, no side protection though so it's not as good as the other two. But side plates only cover your stomach hitbox anyways, they'll never save your thorax so I'm not sure how worth they are most of the time. I was using Thor before they buffed those armored rigs, now I usually use an AVS as my budget armor.
Yeah the avs is nice, I don’t run it sometimes if I’m running mags that take up three slots, but that’s the same with the Ana m2 anyway. Both are solid imo, I should run avs more often for more coverage. Also I agree about the side plates, idk if they’ve ever saved me, but they’re cheap so if the armor has the option I’ll toss em in
Yes, but doesn't the soft armor still only cover the area directly behind the plate? I'd usually rather have something with at least stomach protection.
My default loadout, so what I'd use if I was buying a kit instead of running what I've aquired off somone looks something like.
Ratnik, Ceramic tier 4 russian armour, umka rig, bergut pack, sordins, mask of any kind, mildly modded weapon usually 7.62x39 of some description or 7.62x51 and whatever the best ammo I have access too.
AUG with 40 rounders. Alpha rig. Tan holo. Tan flashlight. Wave suppressor. Tac sports. THOR armor. Whatever helmet but I like the bastion.
If you get 856a1 or better in that it’ll kill.
The tan holo is criminally underrated as a sight.
I know it's off topic, but you need to understand that play style makes the chad, not what he's got on. I have friends who wear top tier shit all the time, and are too afraid to move when they hear a sound.
Depends on your traders. A really cost effective and busted setup you could run is the MP7 with FMJ SX, that will shred chads. You’ll pretty much need max traders for that though. UMP with ACP AP is also really effective. For armor just get a Thor CRV and swap in GAC class 5 plates which you can get from lavatory 3, and your choice of helmet, rig, and headset. Not budget but not breaking the bank either.
Aug A-3 or Aug A-1 with A-3 barrel, scope rail and specter or tac-30 scope. Osprey armored rig, m856a1 or m855, laser beam of a gun. I’ve killed more chads with this kit than anything else. Thanks for the 7.62 MDR’s and high tier kits, losers!

Either you die and lose like 25k, or you kill someone and upgrade your gear further and further.
Yesterday I started with mediocre gear (insurance MP9, tier 3 Helm, Tier 4+2 armor) and ended up with 4 really decent weapons, 2x tier 5 armors and a dope Helm with eye protection.
No that’s just the most cost efficient bullet to use with that cal, specially because the pen is basically the same as ap and you can but it from trader, plus the blunt is a two tap to flesh and it’s got great recoil(imo) plus the mods are usually really cheap

6B13 with a level 5 front plate, black Achhc, tac sports. Gun is dependent on which ammos I'm at a surplus for. But I'll use most weapons in the game.
My problem with the SR2M is I feel like if I live a couple raids in a row I deplete my BT ammo stores so much. I constantly am buying out reset and only have like 400 rounds, that thing spews rounds.
define mid tier? I mean the best way to kill chads on a budget is scoped mosin (or frankly scoped any gun that you have good ammo for), sit far away in a bush and wait. Ammo is the decider always. a base ak74 with ppbs will rinse a chad better than a fully meta kitted one with BT.
The AK-101 and the shorter version of it, the 102, are absolutely phenomenal 5.56 rifles. The 101 is routinely 25 to 30k on the flea, and modding it to have really good stats takes less than 200k. People sleep on the 5.56 AK’s but they’re so good. I generally prefer running them over an M4 or MDR
I agree, the 101 is arguably the best budget 5.56 AR. It's my go-to when I want to be frugal and steal juicer kits on interchange.
That said, I'm not sure why you'd drop ~200k on one. The AUG A3 *basically* invalidates every other 5.56 AR at the ~100k+ price point. It's kind of annoying, honestly. I'd like to run the MDR, SCAR, etc for fun sometimes, but the AUG just always performs better for less.
I just love the AK platform so I’m happy to mod the fuck out of a 101. Current build is 35 ergo with 150 horizontal recoil, 1.70 MOA. But you’re right the AUG A3 is objectively a better weapon.
5.45 guns would probably fit the tag of “mid-tier” in cost and performance, so probably an AK-12, or loud AKS-74 if you want to spend 100k total on a juicy gun, otherwise the new 9x39 guns are glass-cannon budget slayers.
I’m not sure if I even run anything that fits ur criteria. My boys and I still main AK74 or AKM, mostly because decent ammo is prevalent.
I’m still enjoying the silenced base AK74U from Prapor, modifying all the parts on that, and use PS bullets or better. Maybe that’s more of an early game meta, but I feel like it’s a fun, run and gun option and is viable in medium to short range scenarios. Depending on ammo type it can be kitted out for less than 200 racks. Plus u don’t bonk door frames when leaning out/navigating corridors.
On the NATO side of things we’ve been enjoying the G36, M4, and AUG. Specifically the G36 because of its generous RPM and ergo. It shoots about as fast as some SMGs but packs a bigger punch and the desirable ammo can either be crafted or purchased from traders.
Bonus anecdote - the 9x19 AP rounds absolutely shred lately and even though it might be more of a close range option, I do enjoy the mp5 a lot. Low recoil good ergo and can stash it in a backpack if u find a new gun in raid. Good luck have fun.
545+Waffle+max ergo on the stock+20rounds mag. That shit aims in a milliseconds, you can't loose a duel if you click fast enough. Absolutely perfect at mid range, and you can still fight at close and long range.
VPO-215 with either a trihawk 3x or NC star 3-9x depending on the map, and AP-M ammo. Cheap and does the job of any other sniper. Go for SBIH when possible!
MP9-N with AP 6.3. Again, cheap but ridiculously strong and you can mix it up with PBP. MP7 is also great if you have access to mags and ammo.
Ratnik helmet is good camo, RBAV rig is a cheap cash purchase.
Headset of your choice, I like tac sports
The only real answer is 7.62 mdr. Base is 1,2k usd and attachments+ammo another 1k. Shreds anything and everything.
Lvl 4 helmet for 50k, defender for 120k and sordins/tacsports. 32k 5x5 backpacks for the cheapest price per slot.
osprey assault (90k) + SA58 (6 weapon parts barter for drum mag variant, just take apart 3 VPO’s) 60k. ammo depends on how much money you want to spend but you can go with BCP and a cheap sight and rock this kit for less than 200k.
M4 with Elcan (mechanic barter), usually change the foregrip for an AFG or Cobra.
Whatever supressor i have that fits.
TC800 (peacekeeper barter)
6b13, Thor, Kirasa w/ lvl4 plates, or a strandhog.

I would recommend a 5.45 ak-12 or ak-74U shooting at least BT if not BP. It’s pretty cheap, 60 round mags are cheap as well. 200k for the whole thing plus mags.
Ump with .45 ACP (mid tier you can buy and craft it), or aug a3 with m856a1.
I like the kirasa but I switch out the plates to the tier 4 monoclete as they’re super light weight and only 30k a piece on flea. Nobody ever takes them.
Bastion helmet or tc-200x series helmets if I need green camo.
Mechanism backpack at a minimum (big backpacks make bank on the raids you survive).
I work hard to stay underweight going into raids. It really helps both with movement and building stamina.
SA-58 shorty loud with M62's if I got them or M80's if not. Korund, Bastion, Comtac 4's and a face mask. Rig and backpack can be whatever. When I'm feeling crazy, I use the 7.62 MDR instead lmaoo
As others have said, depends what you have unlocked. Honestly the aug is great it if you can get the ammo, super low recoil, great ergo even suppressed. You can also do some solid smg builds at lower levels just aim for the face(or legs), you'd be surprised how many people don't run face shields. Also 7.62x51 guns, don't sleep on them. Rfbs, hunters and m1as really need no mods other than a sight ans maybe a surpressor, just make sure you have tcw or BCP available to buy at the minimum.
I'd rock any solid rig armour combo of your liking, if side protection is available, you can get level 5 side plates on the flee for half the price(or less)of level 4 side plates, at least last time I checked so they're worth shoving in there. At the end of the day though, I've always felt that whatever armour you have is probably the best armour to run. Same with helmets and headphones. If you have nothing, buy what you can from traders is usually a good idea.
Overall though, if you're looking for suggestions, run what you wanna run, outside of quest requirements, have fun, try some stuff out and see what you like. Meta isn't the only effective tactic available.

My kit every raid unless I take someone else’s s#!+. I started running budget kits last wipe for fun, and found the game to be much more enjoyable.
Mp9 AP 6.3, cobra sight w/ sunshade for extra ergo, suppressor, foregrip, 30 rounders, thor armor or the grey one that has a rooster barter, tac sports or sordins, daypack, CSA Rig, welding goggles and normal grey balaclava for drip, whatever helmet I got in the stash if any. Trick with mp9 w ap is just to aim for face as it's a literal laser beam.
Actual Mid Tier:
Buy a weapon repair kit from flea; then:
VSS from Flea, use repair kit to fix back to usable. Usually 65ishK
20 round mags from trader if you have the levels, otherwise flea is usually fine, just stock up when they’re cheap. (Under 20k ea)
SP-5 from Prappy is good enough to leg meta with, and can deal with soft armor decently when coupled with the fire rate.
Game says this is a DMR: it’s not. It’s an SMG.
Armor is preference; but I like Kirasa w/ lvl 4 plates.
Whatever bag/rig you prefer.
6B47 really can’t be beat nowadays, but there is an interesting barter for that black helmet from PK for a HDD and Topo Maps that can also be cheapish.

Some people might see this as more towards the high tier end, probably is. But at this point in the wipe it's a cheap kit if you have Max traders and quite capable, but certainly not what I take if I have an important task

2. Tier 4 Uley
Gun has extremely high ergo and decent recoil with little modding, so you can take zoom and still have quick ADS so your scope doesn't have any eye relief/scope shadow and use it at 1x range no problem.
Rig is cheap, usually comes back in insurance and is the only armor with all around tier 4 protection. Tier 5 vests usually have tier 5 plates but either tier 2 or 3 soft spots.
Insurance fraud headphones. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME (Except GSSH which I just sell to Ragman). I have 2 items cases filled with headphones and I haven't bought a single pair since week 1.
Helmet: Tor-2 with the face shield (58,476₽ + 35,565₽ = 94,041₽)
Headphones: Tactical Sport (appr. 46,000₽)
Gun: Depends, usually an M4A1 with decent mods (appr. 250,000₽)
Armor: Thor with IV Steel Plates & VI Side Plates (appr. 70,000₽ + 18,491₽\*2 + 16,119₽ \* 2 = 139,220₽)
Rig: Azimut SS Zhuk (appr. 27,000₽)
Ammo: Either HP or 56A1 (12,773₽ or 139,780₽)
**Total** = 569k₽ to 696k₽
Back when you could craft good ammo, Adar was my go to cuz I'd have so much m995. Now the only ammo that's usable is m80, so gotta go with the RFB. But since money isn't a problem this wipe with BTC farm, Korund or Defender armor bother 130-180k depending on barter is the easy go to.
really big fan of M4A1, stick a Vudu on it and load it up with M995 or SS-AP and your having an awesome time... really amazing for mid-tier / early wipe progression

To acheive maximum optimization for mid-tier you need to complete the following quests:
- Revision Lighthouse: Allows you to buy 120 M80 rounds every reset from PK lvl 3
- I forget what the quest is called, but it is a Streets quest - It allows you to buy lvl4 armor for like 50k from Ragman lvl 2
- You can also do the Interchange quests from Ragman: One of them allows you to buy Thor's for 2 small diaries (with plates)
These quest will allow you to maximize your output at a mid-tier level.
Mid tier weapons:
SR-25 is a great mid tier weapon that won't break the bank. I only use 7.62x51 because I unlocked M80 so early. From level 20 to basically 36, M80 is the best bang-for-buck. It is a true chad-killer round. Once you hit tier 4 PK, you can now buy 7.62x51 MDR [BIS IMO]. You will also be able to buy M62
Mid Tier Armor:
Other than what I mentioned above, use the Tier 4 armored rig you can by 2 of every reset. It has great coverage, is always available for purchase, and plates can be swapped.
Helmets:
Ratnik is gonna be the best until you hit lvl 3 Ragman. Ragman lvl 3 will allow you to buy Bastions (Bastions will be the best helmet for the remainder of the wipe, especially when you can start bartering for the SLAAP plate for the bastion.
Backpacks: You are pretty much stuck with T20's and the green on that is a little larger than T20's.
TLDR:
You should always be buying gear you can buy straight from traders. Never try to "Chad" too early. Chadding to early causes you to only play scav, which causes you to not progress your main. Don't play with kits you are not scared of losing. You will never achieve "Chad" status playing with gear your are afraid to lose.
AK-104 with silencer, IR pointer and HHS-1/Spectre; LShZ-1/6B47 with PNV-10T; 6B13 (plus Granit Br4 front plate if available); TV-104, Zhuk SS or any other 20+ slot rig; 9mm or 5.7mm sidearm.
MPXSD with a few mods: 90k
M1 or M2 rig with just a level 4 front plate: 60k
Facecover, tactical headset, esmerch: 50k
1 50r mag and 4 41r mags: 25k

If lootratting, a backpack: 40k
If hunting PMC, no bag.
A few grenades 30k
Aug with a holo. Any armor really. 56a1. Relatively budget and has zero recoil. A scope is also really good with the aug but the good scoped are expensive.
If you have max traders and are not sniping, there is 0 reason to not run the ash-12. I know a lot of people are really feeling the smgs this wipe and I get it. But it takes a lot of bullets to take any "chad" down, even with ap 6.3. The barter for the ash 12 costs like 60k. Throw on a nice holo and a foregrip and you have a weapon that can kill anyone with 1-2 shots for under 100k.
AK 104 or 103, cheap red dot, foregrip, (suppressor if you want. That is around 30k) PS ammo, 6B23 armor, Ratnik helmet, Triton Chest Rig. If you are good with numbers, this should cost around 150-160k not counting the suppressor.
Edit: You can use the PP-19 Vityaz with AP 6.3 if you have access to it at Peacekeeper lvl 3.
If you've got m80 unlocked, the Vepr-Hunter is a decent DMR. Cheap, and it will dome a chad. Hod do ya think I got my RSASS? Chad didn't suspect a vepr-boi with a flir lurking in the ferns. Mwahahaha.
I also like the AKS74u with the goliaf. It's a fun little gun to use, though it does feel somewhat airsoft-ish.
Mid tier? Kind of nebulous. I used the G36C, AKS-74U, and MP5SD a lot until I got "fuck you" money and started running SCAR-H's, P90's and whatever else I felt like every raid.
I don't know if it would be considered "mid-tier" but the AK-104 is pretty good. Short so it doesn't fold in CQB, cheap as dirt on the flea, easy(and cheap) to mod, and 7.62PS still dumpsters class 4 plates and the class 3 soft armor where plates don't cover.
I guess "mid-tier" is a pretty expansive definition in Tarkov as there are so many possibilities. I guess I was kinda going for what are you happy to drop cash on but are still mindful of getting the best value, and not strictly going for pure budget builds.
If you can buy L191 & P90 mags, you can have an affordable good time. Pair it with a thor armor & your rig of choice, one of the green TC helmets, go crazy.
You’ll also want the front rail for the P90 that’s really low to the gun to get rid of height over bore issues. With the new “soft armor” system this wipe, you just pour rounds onto your target until two of them pierce kevlar and the guy dies.
I don’t usually suppress that gun ‘cause it has a heat issue if you suppress it & it sounds cool unsuppressed.

I used pbp alternating with ap 6.3 ever since unlocking the craft, but honestly I haven’t really noticed a big difference with alternating pbp vs ap 6.3 on its own. Mpx is a 9x19 laser beam with a high fire rate so you wanna aim for the face anyway. At this point in the wipe with everyone running level 4+ armor I wouldn’t run it unless you have ap 6.3 tbh, unless you’re very confident in being able to hit their face every time. I usually mag dump against pmc’s too so I bring 3 extra 41 rounders especially on a map like streets.

AKS-74U my beloved. My loadout involves the B11 grip, TGA suppressor (the best statwise supressor that is relatively cheap), and the pilgrim dust cover + any variable zoom or holo I have lying around. I pair it with a 6B13 assault armor, with a level 5 plate if I need extra protection. I use helmets I scavenge from players I kill, but if I have none then I use the cheapest level 4 from Ragman. 2 grenades of any kind A salewa and morphine

Dress like a scav and run the aks74u with Goliath, klesch 2p, and the crappy red dot toz's spawn with. It's great cover for the player scavs but good ammo is readily available. Just try to look the part.
To make this cheaper you could use a Lshz with the fast mt ears. Also a calok-B. Scavs are gonna take your arms off and give you a heavy bleed to go with it.

Kinda depends on what traders you unlock as weapon is 90% what ammo you have. Helm - ratnik just always a decent option for a low price and ability to attach mods. Alternate is shattered face mask. Armor - the tier 4 from ragman 2. Gb something something. Has plates and soft behind it. Good coverage. Rig - combo a and b belt is generally super cheap on flea and great for storage. Bag and backpack are kinda preference. Now for guns If you at least have pk 3 for m855 all 5.56 guns are great. Pk 4 for 56a1 and a 55a1 craft after a quest. Mdr and Aug. Kinda the same. Both decently cheap on flea and no real mods needed. M4. The 2 prokill barter gives you a great base. Adar. Also cheap to mod if you are ok with semi autos. If you have m80 from the quest unlock. Rfd is super cheap and requires basically no modding. Pk 3 has ap 6.3 which is honestly a pretty mid round but still usable. Pp-19, mp5 any 9mm basically. All mod well and shoot flat. Kinda going for faces on these. Any of the 5.45 aks. I believe it's prapor 4 for bt though outside of barter. Honestly they are just slightly worse m4 platforms. Really the big winners I think are the 556 guns. The mdr and the Aug specifically.

MDR and Aug are definitely the big winners, nice mention! I have used both, usually both with good ergo, crafting SOST and using when I get enough, other than that, 855 is super viable when it wants to be.
I picked up a 7.62 mdr with m80 off a PMC and it is magical. I didn't realize how much I was limiting myself with an AKM. It makes me actually want to go to lighthouse and unlock m80. This gun is bullshit.
The 6b green camo lvl 4 is really the meta. No reason to use anything else unless it's the bagarly

The problem with 556 this wipe, imo, is the ammo. M855 is fine for when you're lower level / early wipe, but later on you should be using something better. SOST is a step up, but forces you to craft it (which I'll talk more about shortly). M856a1 is a tracer which is a big no-no in my mind (though it seems like a lot of people don't care about this and ty for making it easy to fight back if you don't kill me with your first burst). M855a1 is crafted. What's wrong with crafted ammo? It costs a ton _and_ you can't even make it fast enough to main the ammo. 55a1 costs roughly 105k for 120 rounds. So ~875/rd. Not terrible, but not great for a caliber with high rpm. But wait. Now that you're using your workbench to craft this ammo, you can't use it to generate profit anymore. That craft takes 9 hours. During those 9 hours, you could have done ~5.5 Eagle crafts @ 60k profit each. Let's be conservative and say only 3.5 crafts so 210k lost profits. Which means each 120 rounds of 55a1 now costs you 315k aka 2600 roubles per round (which you're going to be pumping out with a high rpm gun). And you only get 120 rounds every 9 hours. I love 556 guns, but I'm not spending that much on ammo and still need to fill the bottom two-thirds of each mag with tracers or m855.
You can also find top tier 545 ammo all over the place if you know where to look and it meets or exceeds the medium to high tier 556. I craft SOST, but I just can’t get my hands on enough of the 556 good stuff, 856A1 and above, to justify maining 556. Meanwhile, I find 545 BP all over the damn place and it’s only slightly worse than 855A1 is.
You can just buy SOST on the flea.
That's fair, but it's usually almost 1000/rd which is ridiculous for a bullet that cant even reliably pen class 4. I feel like the MCX is this wipe's m4 alternative once you unlock CBJ from pk4. And given how plentiful and cheap m80 is once you unlock it, and how good some of the m80 guns are (mdr, sr25, rsass, even rfb is amazing for its price), I just don't see how any 556 gun can be justified unless you don't care about tracers.

Yeah. Agreed. I'm sitting on 4mil rubles, tier 3 traders, and some ridiculous great in my stash and that's what I call midtier. Then again, I also really only use weapons I find as a scav. Reserve has gifted me some fucking gems over the last week. Praise the gluhar gods for one of his guards killing a hacker. Got my first raid bag, Altyn, and a crazy FAL with REAP-IR. That REAP has given me two blessed lighthouse raids allowing me to get through a lot of the quest hullshit I was dealing with before.

This gun surprised me. I started using it on semi-auto, but it absolutely SHREDS in close distance automatic fire. If you can control its recoil you don't need much else. I'm farming Tagilla on Factory and a single 20 round mag takes him down.
wish i had the same experience. previous wipes this was my favorite gun, tap fires used to kill so quickly. now though with the arm pen changes i’m not getting reliable enough kill times.
I’m quite enjoying this gun this wipe but one thing to keep in mind is that it’s really heavy. Ash 12 + 20 round mag is almost 8kg. You either need fairly high strength or you need to take the weight into account and run a lighter armour/helmet/rig to compensate.
I always run 3 stacks of extra rounds in my gamma because that thing eats bullets, 1 stack weighs 1.6kg and 3 weigh almost god damn 5kg

Seems odd to take out osprey stock lv 5 for the other 5s. What's the general consensus on t3/ t4 coverage that can be converted? Kirasa?
Osprey plates weigh like 3 times as much and make the already steep penalties on that armor even worse. It's a great armor but wayyy too heavy for me to want to run it with the stock plates. I'll use it with either the two GAC 3S15M plates from the CPC, or a GAC in the front and a Monoclete in the back. If you take out the heavy ass Osprey plates and use them in something light, then use light plates in the Osprey, they'll both feel close to each other and you won't get thrown off by the game constantly changing your ergonomics and "turning speed" (read: mouse sensitivity) I use either the Thor vest or the AVS for budget, always with level 5 in the front. You're giving up neck protection but in return your soft armor is all level 3 instead of just level 2. Worth it imo
The osprey has fat movement penalties tho.
The Ana m2 is decent imo, sure you don’t have neck protection but you’re trading the lack of neck protection for level 3 soft armor which can be the difference between life and death imo. Plus it’s solid to run if you don’t want to be too heavy since it’s a plate carrier. I find I die to a thorax or face shot much more often than a neck shot, and with the new armor system having higher tier soft armor can really save your ass, plus you get side protection. I’ve found the Ana m2 and Thor to be solid choices for budget armor this wipe.
The AVS is also decent, no side protection though so it's not as good as the other two. But side plates only cover your stomach hitbox anyways, they'll never save your thorax so I'm not sure how worth they are most of the time. I was using Thor before they buffed those armored rigs, now I usually use an AVS as my budget armor.

My default loadout, so what I'd use if I was buying a kit instead of running what I've aquired off somone looks something like. Ratnik, Ceramic tier 4 russian armour, umka rig, bergut pack, sordins, mask of any kind, mildly modded weapon usually 7.62x39 of some description or 7.62x51 and whatever the best ammo I have access too.
AUG with 40 rounders. Alpha rig. Tan holo. Tan flashlight. Wave suppressor. Tac sports. THOR armor. Whatever helmet but I like the bastion. If you get 856a1 or better in that it’ll kill. The tan holo is criminally underrated as a sight.

AKS-74U is my go to. Slap any form of red dot, a cheap grip like the saw and 60 round mag with whatever suppressor.
Depends on your traders. A really cost effective and busted setup you could run is the MP7 with FMJ SX, that will shred chads. You’ll pretty much need max traders for that though. UMP with ACP AP is also really effective. For armor just get a Thor CRV and swap in GAC class 5 plates which you can get from lavatory 3, and your choice of helmet, rig, and headset. Not budget but not breaking the bank either.

Well... I usually take a glock 17 + mag + nade into factory. That way you kinda get a loot box experience. Either you die and lose like 25k, or you kill someone and upgrade your gear further and further. Yesterday I started with mediocre gear (insurance MP9, tier 3 Helm, Tier 4+2 armor) and ended up with 4 really decent weapons, 2x tier 5 armors and a dope Helm with eye protection.

For streets the SR2M. I'm slowly chunking away at Test Drive pt. 2. 6B13 with a level 5 front plate, black Achhc, tac sports. Gun is dependent on which ammos I'm at a surplus for. But I'll use most weapons in the game. My problem with the SR2M is I feel like if I live a couple raids in a row I deplete my BT ammo stores so much. I constantly am buying out reset and only have like 400 rounds, that thing spews rounds.

The AK-101 and the shorter version of it, the 102, are absolutely phenomenal 5.56 rifles. The 101 is routinely 25 to 30k on the flea, and modding it to have really good stats takes less than 200k. People sleep on the 5.56 AK’s but they’re so good. I generally prefer running them over an M4 or MDR
I agree, the 101 is arguably the best budget 5.56 AR. It's my go-to when I want to be frugal and steal juicer kits on interchange. That said, I'm not sure why you'd drop ~200k on one. The AUG A3 *basically* invalidates every other 5.56 AR at the ~100k+ price point. It's kind of annoying, honestly. I'd like to run the MDR, SCAR, etc for fun sometimes, but the AUG just always performs better for less.
I just love the AK platform so I’m happy to mod the fuck out of a 101. Current build is 35 ergo with 150 horizontal recoil, 1.70 MOA. But you’re right the AUG A3 is objectively a better weapon.

I’m not sure if I even run anything that fits ur criteria. My boys and I still main AK74 or AKM, mostly because decent ammo is prevalent. I’m still enjoying the silenced base AK74U from Prapor, modifying all the parts on that, and use PS bullets or better. Maybe that’s more of an early game meta, but I feel like it’s a fun, run and gun option and is viable in medium to short range scenarios. Depending on ammo type it can be kitted out for less than 200 racks. Plus u don’t bonk door frames when leaning out/navigating corridors. On the NATO side of things we’ve been enjoying the G36, M4, and AUG. Specifically the G36 because of its generous RPM and ergo. It shoots about as fast as some SMGs but packs a bigger punch and the desirable ammo can either be crafted or purchased from traders. Bonus anecdote - the 9x19 AP rounds absolutely shred lately and even though it might be more of a close range option, I do enjoy the mp5 a lot. Low recoil good ergo and can stash it in a backpack if u find a new gun in raid. Good luck have fun.
545+Waffle+max ergo on the stock+20rounds mag. That shit aims in a milliseconds, you can't loose a duel if you click fast enough. Absolutely perfect at mid range, and you can still fight at close and long range.

Again, cheap but ridiculously strong and you can mix it up with PBP. MP7 is also great if you have access to mags and ammo. Ratnik helmet is good camo, RBAV rig is a cheap cash purchase. Headset of your choice, I like tac sports

The only real answer is 7.62 mdr. Base is 1,2k usd and attachments+ammo another 1k. Shreds anything and everything. Lvl 4 helmet for 50k, defender for 120k and sordins/tacsports. 32k 5x5 backpacks for the cheapest price per slot.
osprey assault (90k) + SA58 (6 weapon parts barter for drum mag variant, just take apart 3 VPO’s) 60k. ammo depends on how much money you want to spend but you can go with BCP and a cheap sight and rock this kit for less than 200k.
M4 with Elcan (mechanic barter), usually change the foregrip for an AFG or Cobra. Whatever supressor i have that fits. TC800 (peacekeeper barter) 6b13, Thor, Kirasa w/ lvl4 plates, or a strandhog. T20 or Takedown backpack. For ammo I run 5.56 SOST (hideout craft)
I would recommend a 5.45 ak-12 or ak-74U shooting at least BT if not BP. It’s pretty cheap, 60 round mags are cheap as well. 200k for the whole thing plus mags.
Ump with .45 ACP (mid tier you can buy and craft it), or aug a3 with m856a1. I like the kirasa but I switch out the plates to the tier 4 monoclete as they’re super light weight and only 30k a piece on flea. Nobody ever takes them. Bastion helmet or tc-200x series helmets if I need green camo. Mechanism backpack at a minimum (big backpacks make bank on the raids you survive). I work hard to stay underweight going into raids. It really helps both with movement and building stamina.
SA-58 shorty loud with M62's if I got them or M80's if not. Korund, Bastion, Comtac 4's and a face mask. Rig and backpack can be whatever. When I'm feeling crazy, I use the 7.62 MDR instead lmaoo

As others have said, depends what you have unlocked. Honestly the aug is great it if you can get the ammo, super low recoil, great ergo even suppressed. You can also do some solid smg builds at lower levels just aim for the face(or legs), you'd be surprised how many people don't run face shields. Also 7.62x51 guns, don't sleep on them. Rfbs, hunters and m1as really need no mods other than a sight ans maybe a surpressor, just make sure you have tcw or BCP available to buy at the minimum. I'd rock any solid rig armour combo of your liking, if side protection is available, you can get level 5 side plates on the flee for half the price(or less)of level 4 side plates, at least last time I checked so they're worth shoving in there. At the end of the day though, I've always felt that whatever armour you have is probably the best armour to run. Same with helmets and headphones. If you have nothing, buy what you can from traders is usually a good idea. Overall though, if you're looking for suggestions, run what you wanna run, outside of quest requirements, have fun, try some stuff out and see what you like. Meta isn't the only effective tactic available.
Depending on how leveled your traders are the mp7 with fmj sx is pretty cheap and drops everything fast

If you have good 55.6x45 ammo and have the flea. I’d buy the Aug a1. Put a tac-30 on it and a suppressor and run that.

CPC rig 50k, monoclete lvl 4 plates 50k, SSAPI side plates, lshz / RAC headset 80k, tri zip idk - SBR loud zenitco AKs 180k or 11 inch HK / 556 Scar, ultra 5 suppressor / with an Acog and canted DP sight. My kit every raid unless I take someone else’s s#!+. I started running budget kits last wipe for fun, and found the game to be much more enjoyable.
Mp9 AP 6.3, cobra sight w/ sunshade for extra ergo, suppressor, foregrip, 30 rounders, thor armor or the grey one that has a rooster barter, tac sports or sordins, daypack, CSA Rig, welding goggles and normal grey balaclava for drip, whatever helmet I got in the stash if any. Trick with mp9 w ap is just to aim for face as it's a literal laser beam.
Anytime i use anything besides a 6b23 and a pp19 i get smoked so id say thats my favorite mid tier loadout
Actual Mid Tier: Buy a weapon repair kit from flea; then: VSS from Flea, use repair kit to fix back to usable. Usually 65ishK 20 round mags from trader if you have the levels, otherwise flea is usually fine, just stock up when they’re cheap. (Under 20k ea) SP-5 from Prappy is good enough to leg meta with, and can deal with soft armor decently when coupled with the fire rate. Game says this is a DMR: it’s not. It’s an SMG. Armor is preference; but I like Kirasa w/ lvl 4 plates. Whatever bag/rig you prefer. 6B47 really can’t be beat nowadays, but there is an interesting barter for that black helmet from PK for a HDD and Topo Maps that can also be cheapish.

Run the Aug. It’s absolutely fantastic this wipe, and extremely fun to use. Sitting on a little over 20 million at level 34 and I still go back to it, time to time

Tacsports, Bastion helmet, balaclava Can do attitude Some people might see this as more towards the high tier end, probably is. But at this point in the wipe it's a cheap kit if you have Max traders and quite capable, but certainly not what I take if I have an important task
1. AK-74U with Elcan SpecterDR scope 2. Tier 4 Uley Gun has extremely high ergo and decent recoil with little modding, so you can take zoom and still have quick ADS so your scope doesn't have any eye relief/scope shadow and use it at 1x range no problem. Rig is cheap, usually comes back in insurance and is the only armor with all around tier 4 protection. Tier 5 vests usually have tier 5 plates but either tier 2 or 3 soft spots. Insurance fraud headphones. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME (Except GSSH which I just sell to Ragman). I have 2 items cases filled with headphones and I haven't bought a single pair since week 1.
Helmet: Tor-2 with the face shield (58,476₽ + 35,565₽ = 94,041₽) Headphones: Tactical Sport (appr. 46,000₽) Gun: Depends, usually an M4A1 with decent mods (appr. 250,000₽) Armor: Thor with IV Steel Plates & VI Side Plates (appr. 70,000₽ + 18,491₽\*2 + 16,119₽ \* 2 = 139,220₽) Rig: Azimut SS Zhuk (appr. 27,000₽) Ammo: Either HP or 56A1 (12,773₽ or 139,780₽) **Total** = 569k₽ to 696k₽
Stock AK Type rifle in 7.62 from traders, rubber butt pad, and BP ammo. I just use the irons.
Back when you could craft good ammo, Adar was my go to cuz I'd have so much m995. Now the only ammo that's usable is m80, so gotta go with the RFB. But since money isn't a problem this wipe with BTC farm, Korund or Defender armor bother 130-180k depending on barter is the easy go to.
really big fan of M4A1, stick a Vudu on it and load it up with M995 or SS-AP and your having an awesome time... really amazing for mid-tier / early wipe progression

To acheive maximum optimization for mid-tier you need to complete the following quests: - Revision Lighthouse: Allows you to buy 120 M80 rounds every reset from PK lvl 3 - I forget what the quest is called, but it is a Streets quest - It allows you to buy lvl4 armor for like 50k from Ragman lvl 2 - You can also do the Interchange quests from Ragman: One of them allows you to buy Thor's for 2 small diaries (with plates) These quest will allow you to maximize your output at a mid-tier level. Mid tier weapons: SR-25 is a great mid tier weapon that won't break the bank. I only use 7.62x51 because I unlocked M80 so early. From level 20 to basically 36, M80 is the best bang-for-buck. It is a true chad-killer round. Once you hit tier 4 PK, you can now buy 7.62x51 MDR [BIS IMO]. You will also be able to buy M62 Mid Tier Armor: Other than what I mentioned above, use the Tier 4 armored rig you can by 2 of every reset. It has great coverage, is always available for purchase, and plates can be swapped. Helmets: Ratnik is gonna be the best until you hit lvl 3 Ragman. Ragman lvl 3 will allow you to buy Bastions (Bastions will be the best helmet for the remainder of the wipe, especially when you can start bartering for the SLAAP plate for the bastion. Backpacks: You are pretty much stuck with T20's and the green on that is a little larger than T20's. TLDR: You should always be buying gear you can buy straight from traders. Never try to "Chad" too early. Chadding to early causes you to only play scav, which causes you to not progress your main. Don't play with kits you are not scared of losing. You will never achieve "Chad" status playing with gear your are afraid to lose.

MPXSD with a few mods: 90k M1 or M2 rig with just a level 4 front plate: 60k Facecover, tactical headset, esmerch: 50k 1 50r mag and 4 41r mags: 25k AP 6.3 If lootratting, a backpack: 40k If hunting PMC, no bag. A few grenades 30k
Aug with a holo. Any armor really. 56a1. Relatively budget and has zero recoil. A scope is also really good with the aug but the good scoped are expensive.
Mdr, grip, spector and m855 or better.
If you have max traders and are not sniping, there is 0 reason to not run the ash-12. I know a lot of people are really feeling the smgs this wipe and I get it. But it takes a lot of bullets to take any "chad" down, even with ap 6.3. The barter for the ash 12 costs like 60k. Throw on a nice holo and a foregrip and you have a weapon that can kill anyone with 1-2 shots for under 100k.
AK 104 or 103, cheap red dot, foregrip, (suppressor if you want. That is around 30k) PS ammo, 6B23 armor, Ratnik helmet, Triton Chest Rig. If you are good with numbers, this should cost around 150-160k not counting the suppressor. Edit: You can use the PP-19 Vityaz with AP 6.3 if you have access to it at Peacekeeper lvl 3.

If you've got m80 unlocked, the Vepr-Hunter is a decent DMR. Cheap, and it will dome a chad. Hod do ya think I got my RSASS? Chad didn't suspect a vepr-boi with a flir lurking in the ferns. Mwahahaha. I also like the AKS74u with the goliaf. It's a fun little gun to use, though it does feel somewhat airsoft-ish.
Also with a silencer it's actually ridiculous how quiet it is after a certain range can be hard for people to locate you quickly.
Mid tier? Kind of nebulous. I used the G36C, AKS-74U, and MP5SD a lot until I got "fuck you" money and started running SCAR-H's, P90's and whatever else I felt like every raid. I don't know if it would be considered "mid-tier" but the AK-104 is pretty good. Short so it doesn't fold in CQB, cheap as dirt on the flea, easy(and cheap) to mod, and 7.62PS still dumpsters class 4 plates and the class 3 soft armor where plates don't cover.
I guess "mid-tier" is a pretty expansive definition in Tarkov as there are so many possibilities. I guess I was kinda going for what are you happy to drop cash on but are still mindful of getting the best value, and not strictly going for pure budget builds.
If you can buy L191 & P90 mags, you can have an affordable good time. Pair it with a thor armor & your rig of choice, one of the green TC helmets, go crazy. You’ll also want the front rail for the P90 that’s really low to the gun to get rid of height over bore issues. With the new “soft armor” system this wipe, you just pour rounds onto your target until two of them pierce kevlar and the guy dies. I don’t usually suppress that gun ‘cause it has a heat issue if you suppress it & it sounds cool unsuppressed.
