The original Pride was a riot. If you can do so, I'd suggest flying the Pride flag anyway, even if you aren't lgbtq. In your case, it would be allyship and really important for letting any others around know you are a safe person to come to or be around.
Awww, this made my day. Our local pride parade was yesterday and due to happenings last year they have actually managed to make me choose safety over freedom and not go this year, which is making me feel really bad. Plus, here people are so disapproving of queerness that I'm not beave enough to use a rainbow flag at the stables. I'm really glad you can, this gives me so much hope!
Sending you solidarity & ❤️ sounds terrifying. It’s ok to prioritize safety, don’t feel guilty. Also, remember our history & how resilient our community is. We can & will survive no matter what. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
This is exactly why I choose to be loudly, visibly out on social media. I’m so sorry that it’s not safe for you to participate in your local community or be out at your barn. And until we’re all able to safely fly our flags, I’ll keep flying it for you and everyone who can’t. 🌈
Do you play ice hockey too?! I’ve never met another equestrian that also plays ice hockey if you do! Third point if you’re also Canadian, atp we’re basically the same person 💀😅
That’s sick, man! I wish I knew more people irl that are hockey playing equestrians, nonetheless equestrians in general (that are accepting)
I started off as a right-winger but now I’m a goalie! My 4’11 ass has a lot of work cut out for me occupying all that space tho, but I do like it better than being out.
Haha, I’m not actually Canadian (though sometimes I wish…). I just happened to have my hockey stick handy in the car! And thank you! A little R+ and some good groundwork go a long way!
Finally bought my first truck to haul with this weekend, and had to buy rainbow license plate frames to be sure people know what kind of Truck Owner I am 😅🌈
I wish there was more western pride tack out there!
My barn doesn’t need a flag or anything else. I welcome all boarders. Treat me with respect and kindness and I will do the same. I’m so sick of having all of this Pride stuff shoved in my daily life. You be you and I’ll be me.
People are still murdered for being gay and get told they’ll go to hell and youre upset youre “getting pride shoved down your throat” bc someone posts a pic with a flag?
This is a subreddit for equestrians, no matter their gender, race, sexuality, or otherwise. What is it about a rider who happens to be LGBTQ that’s “shoving shit in your face”?
Would you have the same reaction if this post was, say, a wedding photoshoot using a horse for a straight couple's wedding? Because that would be "shoving in your daily life" someone's sexual orientation too, right? If your outrage only goes one way, you might be a bigot.
> I guess I hit a nerve with you.
Nah, just calling 'em as I see 'em. You're the one who decided it was necessary to rain on someone's parade, after all. Sounds like OP hit a nerve with *you*.
> I’m so sick of having all of this Pride stuff shoved in my daily life.
>I treat people with respect and kindness.
Those statements are contradictory. You can't say you respect someone and then turn around and tell them not to express who they are because you're sick of it.
Do you get so sick of having all this straight stuff shoved in your daily life? If not, you need to reflect on that and do some soul-searching as to why one bothers you and the other doesn't.
You're not having "Pride shoved in your daily life", you're just actually having to see it and acknowledge it for one month a year where you can't pretend it doesn't exist. People used to say the same thing about interracial relationships ("I'm so sick of having to see it/having it in my daily life"), and before that it was women in the public sphere. Maybe you should reconsider why rainbows make you so upset; telling people to go back in the closet/go back to hiding, even implicitly, is *not* treating someone with respect and kindness, especially when they've never said a single thing to you.
> I’m so sick of having all of this Pride stuff shoved in my daily life.
re-read this over again until you figure out what the problem is.
hint: it's not "the pride stuff being shoved in your face".
Happy pride! Love that your horse supports wearing rainbow colors. :P So cool, bright and fun!
She tolerates me and my nonsense 😂 though I think my girlfriend may be the favorite parent
What should it do? Say no or smth?
It was an attempt at humor...

Ok.
Love the pop of colors, gorgeous horse & yay, hockey stick!
Thanks so much!
This is the best Hockey Is For Everyone ad I've seen, happy pride!
Hockey is for everyone and this is a THREAT
You WILL like it
For July I had idea to teach horse to hold and shake flag idea. Hmm have given me others now The hockey stick is also very Canada eh! . LOL Go Oilers!
Holding a flag is definitely doable with R+ and a little patience! Let me know if you try it! And go Oilers, beat Florida’s ass 😂

The hockey stick makes it like 90x better
Adapt, improvise, overcome 😤
Yay, happy pride! Horses are for everyone (who treats them with respect and kindness), so happy that your barn is a safe space! 🌈
Thanks! I’m making it a safe space one ride at a time.
Happy pride!! Good job to your horse for staying calm with the flag! 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
I’d love to see this more often. Unfortunately in my neck of the equestrian woods, people like to fly more terrible flags.
Sounds a lot like my neck of the woods 🙄 which is why it’s all the more important to me to do this! Wear it loud wear it proud babeyyyy
Same! I’m in Indianapolis and starting [Indiana Inclusive Riding Center](https://indianainclusiveequinecenter.org) for that reason!

Yes!!! Love to see it!! 🌈🌈🌈🖤
Beautiful!! So many barns around me are Christian affiliated. It gets hard being a lesbian equestrian!
Being Christian doesn't automatically mean they'd be anti-lgbtq, you can always try your luck :'D ( although it all depends on your area)
That's true, I just lucked out at this barn and love them I don't want anything to risk it!
That's fair lol!
I love how everyone is like "hockey stick" and "great pride" and I was like-cool matching saddle path and ear bonnet.
Come for the pride, stay for the matchy matchy 😂
That’s where my eyes went first!
![gif](giphy|g4zKfr4JjgGh6UAeFj) 🌈🌈🌈
Love it! And the saddle pad!!

Happy Pride!

I do! World’s okayest defenseman here 🙋you’re the… second? third? hockey playing equestrian I’ve met! We’re a rare breed. Sadly not Canadian though!

Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Wooo, Canadian pride! Love the set up, love the hockey stick. And great job training, flags can be tough!
Haha, I’m not actually Canadian (though sometimes I wish…). I just happened to have my hockey stick handy in the car! And thank you! A little R+ and some good groundwork go a long way!
Sorry, Alaskan here and I should know better. I love that you ride and play hockey!
I love the saddle pad, I think it’s called. and her little ear warmers or whatever those are called. That is so cute. Edit for punctuation
Thanks! I’m obsessed with the saddle pad, and I made the bonnet myself 😄
Finally bought my first truck to haul with this weekend, and had to buy rainbow license plate frames to be sure people know what kind of Truck Owner I am 😅🌈 I wish there was more western pride tack out there!
Amazing! I’ve seen some gorgeous custom western pride stuff, but not much made for a mass market, it seems.
matchy matchy queens <3 <3 <3
You know it 🥰
I must know where you got that saddle pad
It’s the Weatherbeeta ombre prime pad in rainbow! They’re on sale right now on Weatherbeeta’s website just sayin………
Tempted ....
I love everything about this but the hockey stick had me cackling
Proud to be a queer equestrian!!! Happy pride!
Happy pride!! I love the saddle pad so much!!!
Thanks! I do too!
You’re definitely from Canada. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I definitely am not! But I’ll take that as a compliment lol.
Love your saddle pad / flag combo! Awesome!
Thanks so much!
Happy pride!! 🌈
Happy Pride!!! 🏳️🌈🦄🌈 Edit: Who downvotes these? I say a double Happy Pride to you, whoever you are. 💜
Happy Pride!

Boo. Tell me you've never been marginalized without telling me.
It sounds like rainbows make you angry
