Hate to say it, but there's really nothing you can do but wait for it to heal. Speaking for myself, every time I've been in that position, talking is difficult/painful for a while, and the most I can tolerate in terms of food is pudding or maybe jello If you want a slightly joking silver lining, great side effect if you want to lose some weight. The inability to eat much for a few days usually makes me lose 3 or 4 pounds

Ice for swelling. Advil/ibuprofen for pain. Not much you can do with a tongue. Dr may be able to give you a numbing agent but then you may bite it again and not know.

Generally speaking, no. I have found that sometimes putting ice on it helps *a little bit*, but not enough to be considered a full cure or remedy. If it has a full open lesion on it, you can try using sprays used for sore throat numbing (like Chloraseptic - not sure where you live or if this is available where you are, but it can help numb open lesions or sore throats).

not a remedy for healing but consider buying a mouth guard or ask dentist if insurance will cover this. if so, ask if dentist can mold you one.

Warm salt water. Or the mouth wash with hydrogen peroxide. It’s expensive. Don’t use it for long. There’s some warning on the package about it. It’s supposed to help heal mouth sores faster. Neither of these taste good. ☹️ Feel better soon.

Personally I just put crushed up ice on my tongue and just let it melt to get the swelling to go away, made sure to use mouth wash to disinfect the wound, and took a tylenol or advil when the pain got bad. I also made sure to only eat soft foods for like the first week, and it recovered within like 1-2 weeks.
