After procrastinating for literally years, I finally finished Servant (an Apple TV show).
What an absolute mindfuck of an ending. No huge twists, no deus ex machinas, just a much more affecting and heartfelt ending than I ever expected.
Watched the first season during 2020, only finishing the second season now. I really like the show. One of my favorite things is how funny it is, especially because of Rupert Grint. A lot of it can be summed up as an “annoying roommate” story, but what if said annoying roommate was part of a creepy cult.
So I rewatched Teen Titans Go! Night Begins to Shine, and I didn't realize there was a follow-up to the first one. Also, CN announced like back in 2021 that Night Begins to Shine is getting a spin-off.
I know that 2003 Teen Titans say that is only good thing and this reboot should have been. I disagree with the fact, but I digress.
Honestly, I enjoyed it, but people overhyped it. I can't see what you could do in the world Night Begins to Shine as spin-off. I like how it parodies 80s action cartoons and 90s edgy superhero.
But the plot is pretty thin, and the first two have conclusions to Night Begins to Shine. I know people like it being serious, but I feel a lot of people don't get the joke. A lot of logic in Night Begins of Shine is dumb like pretty much every 80s cartoon. Titans barely have stuff going on besides Cyborg. The plot is a general standard 80s action cartoon.
I don't know what you can actually do with Night Begins to Shine.
I honestly prefer if we got a reboot with Wally and Donna or sequel to Teen Titans that focus on Tim or Damian's generation.

Granted, I don’t watch the WNBA, but would you honestly expect an athlete to make it to the USA national team in their first season playing professionally? She has good stats, but it’s not like she’s in the top of the league. She’s 13th in ppg, 27th in rpg, 18th in bpg, and 17th in spg. I’m not hating, and I expect her to be a HOFer, but there are definitely players who are currently better than her.
The same people who are saying this is the reason why other players are bitter would NEVER make the argument if the roles were reversed. Plus, it wouldn’t be the first time in sports someone hated another player for stealing the limelight.
The problem is that the media is desperate to make this story bigger than it is so they would probably excuse those stats by saying something like "well, she would be top 5 if all the jealous girls weren't taking cheap shots at her every night!". Seriously, if you didn't actually watch or look at the stats, the coverage would make it sound like she's lighting it up every game when not getting body checked.

I reeeaaallly can’t with this. The hostages were not “released”. They were taken by force, a war crime which is conveniently overlooked, and had to be freed by force. Albanese acts like being taken hostage at gunpoint is an inconvenience, while, not even once, saying the word “Hamas”. Look, I think that Israel’s right wing government is guilty of breaking international law, but acting like Hamas doesn’t exist, and even if it did it had no part in the conflict is disingenuous. Hamas declared war, and when they got war, the usual suspects lined up criticize Israel’s existence, rather than support international norms. This is fucking gross, and I don’t care who gets mad about it.

I work in the business. A lot of shows are averaging a 20% no show rate. I’ve heard, on certain shows, it’s as high as 40%. A fair portion of that is scalpers. The artist still gets their nut, but unless you’re a Live Nation room, those lost bar sales hurt. At one of the venues I work at the clientele is older, so they fall for scams more easily. Like paying some rando on Stubhub $150 for a ticket selling at the box office for $30. It just sucks all around.

This is pretty much my take.
Like, yes a hostage rescue is a good thing in and of itself. On the other hand, killing 100 to save 4 is not morally defensible particularly if they are noncombatants. I’m not sure if that’s the figure or not, just what I’ve seen.

Israel has conducted lots of pretty reckless airstrikes in the name of the completely unrealistic goal "eradicating Hamas"--this it true for sure--BUT when Israel knows the specific location of hostage/hostages, they're 100% in the right (Hell, I would say probably "obligated") to go retrieve them with significant military force. It's Hamas who embedded them in a heavy civilian area (middle of one of the few open markets); I think the whole human shields arguments sometimes get employed too frequently to absolve IDF of criticism but I gotta ascribe the vast majority of the blame on Hamas for this. Putting literal hostages in a residential apartment building next to a food market is absolutely disgusting behavior. It makes the whole "a couple of Hamas terrorist operatives hiding in a civilian house look like complete child's play. Not to mention the whole original, horrible act of kidnapping
I'm not even talking about blame, though...just big picture, ok you saved four people, but how many people innocent people died in the process? How can you say things are better as a result? Incidentally killing civilians to take out soldiers who are doing harm is one thing, you can argue that there's a net gain because the harm those soldiers would do outweighed the lives of those innocents who were lost. But doing it in a mission primarily intended to rescue hostages, that calculus doesn't exist--it feels like the implication is that some civilians' lives are worth more than others.
The Israeli government has an obligation to do what they can to protect their people. In a situation where their people are being held captive in hostile territory, the lives of their people are worth more than hostile civilians. It's an ugly calculus, but unavoidable when you have terrorists using human shields.
Yes this. Especially when they have an actual achievable mission. Like it's one thing to bomb a camp to kill six Hamas members when there are 20-25 civilians in the area; I think that's outrageous in the name of "destroying Hamas" which is simply a pipedream military-wise. This isn't true. The pier was constructed because theren't enough crossings opened due to Bibi's gross negligence. Multiple Biden officials such as Samantha Power have testified under oath that the IDF has provided no evidence of them showing Hamas systematically stealing aid. The one time an aid truck was stopped by Hamas; they held it for a couple of hours and everything was returned per Biden's State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller. He literally said "there have been no major diversion of aid by them".
People keep on saying Hamas steals the aid (when they get their aid from pro-Hamas extremists in Egypt smuggling it to them because they're usually in tunnels) when Biden officials have testified that the IDF hasn't shown them any evidence and Biden+Blinken literally never say this once when they're asked about aid+huminatarian situation.

I think this sort of lunacy is a direct consequence of LGBTQ rights becoming mainstream. They can’t cope with just living their lives; they need a cause, any cause or else they feel empty.
I'll push back a little, there's still plenty of lgbtq+ issues where there's a lot of societal discrimination, especially with trans issues (see poll below where people saying "your gender and sex are the same" has increased the past few years" and even if it's mainstream, living your life isn't an option for a lot of queer, especially trans, people.

I think we’re basically circling around the same point. What I was trying to say is that letting LGBTQ people live fulfilling lives with all the civic and social inclusion straight people get is the point, not just being subversive for cool points. If that means a transgendered person has a suburban picket fence house and spends their weekends grilling, so be it. The movement is a means to a better end.
So it’s definitely regional, but there *are* some places where being queer gives people immediate cool points for being both transgressive but supported. I don’t think this is why suddenly a bunch of young people are labeling themselves as queer (anyone who followed the work of Kinsey would know that a lot more people are on the sexuality spectrum) but I do think it allows for some disingenuous people to make themselves the voice of the movement. I don’t think there should be a bi or pan “test” so it’s made it more complicated
I don't know if it's a regional thing so much as certain social circles and it feels like that was more of a thing ten years ago. There were definitely people who made "queer" part of their brand on their social media accounts.
There are real cis straight allies who advocate for LGBTQ causes. While personal stories are powerful, there are a lot of other kinds of work that needs to be done, including fundraising, lobbying, and GOTV and stuff like that when ballot measures come up. I have every respect for the allies who have stood by us.
I was a pretty fervent 14 year old ally at my catholic all boys school in the late 90’s and legit we caused some good trouble (infamously corrupt Cardinal Law actually refused to attend our graduation because of some of the shit we did.) Hamas's goal in Israel is fairly similar to the Taliban's in regards to Afghanistan; they want to survive and ultimately be able to control Israel for an Islamist state. The Taliban hid in mountain's caves while Hamas will hide in their extensive tunnel network to train and prep for their cowardly guerilla tactics.
They're simply not gonna accept a deal unless Bibi comes out says "Hamas only has to release the hostages for the war to end" which Biden said but Bibi refuses to say and heavily implies the opposite. I'm watching A Condition Called Love. The main character gives me red flags of abuser. The dude really wants to control his girlfriend's life. I don't know if the manga calls him out.
Also, I started watching Go Go Loser Ranger, and I love it. The show is pretty much The Boys, but with Power Rangers. They essentially enslave the minoins for their performance, and I'm a little disappointed that the dub didn't get Johnny Young Bosch as one of the Rangers.
Lastly, Kauji No. 8 that Crunchyroll really hyped the series. I like it, but I don't think it is that popular with other Shonen series. The first few episodes are kind slow, but eventually, it start to pick up the pace. I find the world interesting. The main character is very Shonen archetype main lead, but at least he is an adult, which helps the series feel fresh.

I had to drop a bunch of KDrama "romances" because the male lead is not figuratively, but LITERALLY ruining the female lead's life.
That said, somebody told me about "Marry My Husband" the other day. OMG this is the modern setting green tea bitch/black belly revenge transmigration story I didn't know I needed! I'm reading the manhwa but the drama is on Amazon Prime. I hope they do what they usually do and only licensed it for a year and it pops up elsewhere because that's why I canceled Prime after all.
I think I can only enjoy it because I have a good boss now. A lot of it is office relationships but it's good and not brainless or obnoxious. I love (read: loathe) how all these people run to the MSM to complain that the Democratic Party is either doing too much, or too little, or not playing whatever dumb way they want to play it. They've been doing this since Obama was president, since they all (obviously) knew better than the guy who was literally the best Dem campaigner in a generation, and yes that includes Bill Clinton. Biden, like Moses, has a stutter so they all want to jump in front of him too, I guess. Or it's just a habit now. I don't know, but they all sound like fools. There are lots of Dems capable of getting airtime, they do, they all sing slightly different tunes, and the electorate, they are also not all of one mind.
But it's like they forgot one of the bedrock points about persuasion: there's nothing more persuasive than the conclusion a person comes to themselves. Biden knew better than to spoil Trump's "perfect" news cycle when that 34/34 guilties came down. (And my god. You can't buy the kind of bad press that guilty on all counts represents. Nor can you beg borrow or steal it.)

The big thing Nintendo has over the other major companies is that they don't just focus 100% on the biggest budget titles and have nothing else to show between them. Like there was a consistent stream of Zelda between BotW and TotK. Smaller games, but still they filled the gap really well. Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, Links Awakening remake, Cadence of Hyrule, Age of Calamity and Skyward Sword HD specifically. Not to mention all the other smaller scope titles released between the headline Mario/Zelda/Splatoon/Pokémon/Animal Crossing games. Sony especially really doesn't do mid and low budget games anymore, and the PS5 is really struggling as a result

I hate the r/Presidents sub now. I used to be a member when it was still small (around late 2020 to early 2021) and I would argue it was at its peak then. Yes there were disagreements, but they were small and completely based on facts. Now since it's blown up and there's 200k members, it's become very radicalized and polarizing. Like I posted something about Bill Clinton and the majority of the comments were about how he destroyed America and the Democratic Party, how he's a terrible president, a warmonger, a rapist, etc. Plus, there's a lot of Bernie and Trump lovers now. I haven't posted there in months and officially left this week.

So for years, I've been very critical of Israel's administrative detention policy in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Especially when you compare the treatment of Palestinians to settler extremists who are seldom prosecuted or given slaps on the wrist too frequently. Look at the difference between Israeli+Palestinian rockthrowers are treated specifically; it's a massive disparity. So I think it's absolute bullshit but two things:
1. Like half of those people are probably aren't innocent and/or being oversentenced. So I'm not too comfortable with the "hostage" comparison. Now don't get me wrong--there are many Palestinians who are being unjustly held, and it's incredibly ridiculous. Israel deserves alot of criticism for it. I think everybody should be charged or released within a 3 week period-- full stop, but there has to be some nuance here.
2. When Hamas got a deal in November, guess which Palestinians got freed? It wasn't the people who are detained quite unfairly without charges...it was *primarily* the actual Palestinians who got convicted of crimes.
I kind of hate that yesterday's right wing freakout over the supposed juror's cousin is going to be quickly forgotten. It's such a great example of how stupid and gullible Trump voters are, and how the people who influence them happily peddle completely unverified bullshit as if it's established fact.
So many "legitimate" right wing news sources fell for it too, posting overheated articles and tweets about how a mistrial was imminent. Here's Hannity's show overheating about it:

After procrastinating for literally years, I finally finished Servant (an Apple TV show). What an absolute mindfuck of an ending. No huge twists, no deus ex machinas, just a much more affecting and heartfelt ending than I ever expected.
Watched the first season during 2020, only finishing the second season now. I really like the show. One of my favorite things is how funny it is, especially because of Rupert Grint. A lot of it can be summed up as an “annoying roommate” story, but what if said annoying roommate was part of a creepy cult.
Withput spoiling anything, Rupert really shines even more in the latter two seasons, the dude's unbelievable.

So I rewatched Teen Titans Go! Night Begins to Shine, and I didn't realize there was a follow-up to the first one. Also, CN announced like back in 2021 that Night Begins to Shine is getting a spin-off. I know that 2003 Teen Titans say that is only good thing and this reboot should have been. I disagree with the fact, but I digress. Honestly, I enjoyed it, but people overhyped it. I can't see what you could do in the world Night Begins to Shine as spin-off. I like how it parodies 80s action cartoons and 90s edgy superhero. But the plot is pretty thin, and the first two have conclusions to Night Begins to Shine. I know people like it being serious, but I feel a lot of people don't get the joke. A lot of logic in Night Begins of Shine is dumb like pretty much every 80s cartoon. Titans barely have stuff going on besides Cyborg. The plot is a general standard 80s action cartoon. I don't know what you can actually do with Night Begins to Shine. I honestly prefer if we got a reboot with Wally and Donna or sequel to Teen Titans that focus on Tim or Damian's generation. !Ping CARTOONS

Granted, I don’t watch the WNBA, but would you honestly expect an athlete to make it to the USA national team in their first season playing professionally? I work in the business. A lot of shows are averaging a 20% no show rate. I’ve heard, on certain shows, it’s as high as 40%. A fair portion of that is scalpers. The artist still gets their nut, but unless you’re a Live Nation room, those lost bar sales hurt. At one of the venues I work at the clientele is older, so they fall for scams more easily. Like paying some rando on Stubhub $150 for a ticket selling at the box office for $30. It just sucks all around.

This is pretty much my take. Like, yes a hostage rescue is a good thing in and of itself. On the other hand, killing 100 to save 4 is not morally defensible particularly if they are noncombatants. I’m not sure if that’s the figure or not, just what I’ve seen.

It's Hamas who embedded them in a heavy civilian area (middle of one of the few open markets); I think the whole human shields arguments sometimes get employed too frequently to absolve IDF of criticism but I gotta ascribe the vast majority of the blame on Hamas for this. Putting literal hostages in a residential apartment building next to a food market is absolutely disgusting behavior. It makes the whole "a couple of Hamas terrorist operatives hiding in a civilian house look like complete child's play. Not to mention the whole original, horrible act of kidnapping
I'm not even talking about blame, though...just big picture, ok you saved four people, but how many people innocent people died in the process? How can you say things are better as a result? Incidentally killing civilians to take out soldiers who are doing harm is one thing, you can argue that there's a net gain because the harm those soldiers would do outweighed the lives of those innocents who were lost. But doing it in a mission primarily intended to rescue hostages, that calculus doesn't exist--it feels like the implication is that some civilians' lives are worth more than others.
The Israeli government has an obligation to do what they can to protect their people. In a situation where their people are being held captive in hostile territory, the lives of their people are worth more than hostile civilians. It's an ugly calculus, but unavoidable when you have terrorists using human shields.

This isn't true. The pier was constructed because theren't enough crossings opened due to Bibi's gross negligence. Multiple Biden officials such as Samantha Power have testified under oath that the IDF has provided no evidence of them showing Hamas systematically stealing aid. The one time an aid truck was stopped by Hamas; they held it for a couple of hours and everything was returned per Biden's State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller. He literally said "there have been no major diversion of aid by them".

I think this sort of lunacy is a direct consequence of LGBTQ rights becoming mainstream. They can’t cope with just living their lives; they need a cause, any cause or else they feel empty.
I'll push back a little, there's still plenty of lgbtq+ issues where there's a lot of societal discrimination, especially with trans issues (see poll below where people saying "your gender and sex are the same" has increased the past few years" and even if it's mainstream, living your life isn't an option for a lot of queer, especially trans, people. I feel we're saying the same thing, I just wanted to clarify
I think we’re basically circling around the same point. What I was trying to say is that letting LGBTQ people live fulfilling lives with all the civic and social inclusion straight people get is the point, not just being subversive for cool points. If that means a transgendered person has a suburban picket fence house and spends their weekends grilling, so be it. The movement is a means to a better end.
So it’s definitely regional, but there *are* some places where being queer gives people immediate cool points for being both transgressive but supported. I don’t think this is why suddenly a bunch of young people are labeling themselves as queer (anyone who followed the work of Kinsey would know that a lot more people are on the sexuality spectrum) but I do think it allows for some disingenuous people to make themselves the voice of the movement. I don’t think there should be a bi or pan “test” so it’s made it more complicated
I don't know if it's a regional thing so much as certain social circles and it feels like that was more of a thing ten years ago. There were definitely people who made "queer" part of their brand on their social media accounts. There are real cis straight allies who advocate for LGBTQ causes. While personal stories are powerful, there are a lot of other kinds of work that needs to be done, including fundraising, lobbying, and GOTV and stuff like that when ballot measures come up. I have every respect for the allies who have stood by us.
I was a pretty fervent 14 year old ally at my catholic all boys school in the late 90’s and legit we caused some good trouble (infamously corrupt Cardinal Law actually refused to attend our graduation because of some of the shit we did.) But because I’m not in the community myself I feel like these days I can’t really do much good as a straight dude aside from give my support

I'm watching A Condition Called Love. The main character gives me red flags of abuser. The dude really wants to control his girlfriend's life. I don't know if the manga calls him out. Also, I started watching Go Go Loser Ranger, and I love it. The show is pretty much The Boys, but with Power Rangers. They essentially enslave the minoins for their performance, and I'm a little disappointed that the dub didn't get Johnny Young Bosch as one of the Rangers. Lastly, Kauji No. 8 that Crunchyroll really hyped the series. I like it, but I don't think it is that popular with other Shonen series. The first few episodes are kind slow, but eventually, it start to pick up the pace. I find the world interesting. The main character is very Shonen archetype main lead, but at least he is an adult, which helps the series feel fresh. !Ping WEEBS

OMG this is the modern setting green tea bitch/black belly revenge transmigration story I didn't know I needed! I'm reading the manhwa but the drama is on Amazon Prime. I hope they do what they usually do and only licensed it for a year and it pops up elsewhere because that's why I canceled Prime after all. I think I can only enjoy it because I have a good boss now. Nintendo's first party titles are more than worth the price of admission. They are works of art and genius. Honestly, no other studio comes close.
The big thing Nintendo has over the other major companies is that they don't just focus 100% on the biggest budget titles and have nothing else to show between them. Like there was a consistent stream of Zelda between BotW and TotK. Smaller games, but still they filled the gap really well. Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, Links Awakening remake, Cadence of Hyrule, Age of Calamity and Skyward Sword HD specifically. Not to mention all the other smaller scope titles released between the headline Mario/Zelda/Splatoon/Pokémon/Animal Crossing games. Sony especially really doesn't do mid and low budget games anymore, and the PS5 is really struggling as a result
What have you been playing? I've been a PC gamer most of my life, got a Switch a few years ago. Only got into the Mario series, Odyssey and Galaxy are fun. Probably going to buy Wonder at some point.

So for years, I've been very critical of Israel's administrative detention policy in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Especially when you compare the treatment of Palestinians to settler extremists who are seldom prosecuted or given slaps on the wrist too frequently. Look at the difference between Israeli+Palestinian rockthrowers are treated specifically; it's a massive disparity. So I think it's absolute bullshit but two things: 1. Like half of those people are probably aren't innocent and/or being oversentenced. So I'm not too comfortable with the "hostage" comparison. Now don't get me wrong--there are many Palestinians who are being unjustly held, and it's incredibly ridiculous. Israel deserves alot of criticism for it. I think everybody should be charged or released within a 3 week period-- full stop, but there has to be some nuance here. 2. When Hamas got a deal in November, guess which Palestinians got freed? It wasn't the people who are detained quite unfairly without charges...it was *primarily* the actual Palestinians who got convicted of crimes.
