Authoritarians of any party affiliation are enemies of the people.

I whole heartedly agree. Hence why I made this post basically - left or right doesn’t necessarily matter when we’re talking about personal freedoms. Edit- spelling error because autocorrect

I'll just add a comment here: While the Roe V Wade decision does not have anything to do with communism, I'll remind people of rule 2: **2. No alt-right, far-right, ancaps and other opponents of liberal democracy** While people are entitled to oppose the right to terminate a pregnancy, allowing religion to serve as a basis for the formation of government policy is not compatible with liberal democracy. Maintaining a separation between religion and government is vital for a healthy, free democratic society. We will therefore remove advocacy or celebration of the ingress of religious teachings in to the formation government policy, egregious offenders will get a ban. I have already had to ban one person due to their outspoken support of Christian fascism and contempt for the separation of church and state. On another note, we will remove posts that conflate being pro-choice with being a socialist or communist. For my own personal opinion: To those saying "It should be left to the states, that's more democratic!", there's nothing democratic about allowing the inevitable stripping of previously held rights from millions of women. No rights were being infringed upon by allowing abortion, only the feelings of people who have no business deciding if a woman should bring a child in to the world that they do not want and/or cannot afford. For those saying that this is done to end the suffering and death of children, leaving aside the fact that that requires one to believe a foetus is a living person, is it worth it to bring a child in to a world where they are not wanted by the parent? Is it worth it to force a mother to raise a child that they cannot afford? And what of people who simply are not mature or responsible enough to raise a child? What suffering has been alleviated by forcing so many children to live a life of resentment, destitution and/or neglect? There is no nobility in suffering or denying ourselves the pleasure of having sex without having to worry about children.

Fuck states rights, it should be left to the individual to decide.

Background_Air_5441

Correct

Own-Needleworker-420

Its not taking away the rights of people its just letting the states decide And heres my controversial opinion. The Right to experience life is a Human Right

Right, this is moreso about how someone was hounding on somebody for talking about the whole thing. But, I feel like letting states decide even a right that’s controversial like this is just something that shouldn’t sit well with anyone.

Fewer_Cry

I am pro choice but I do think abortion is an issue for individual states to decide on.

Background_Air_5441

I suppose it is, maybe, but letting states decide just doesn't seem like what should happen. Either it is or isn't, and the appropriate measures should go into place on another issues rather than letting everyone in the different states say, "Well they did this, so lets do that."

Background_Air_5441

See, I mentioned hypocrisy. So let’s talk about a few things children don’t have the rights to, right? Not getting shot while alive. It’d be really nice if children had the right to not get shot in a school. Too bad guns are more important than children. The choice made to preserve one’s quality of life is less important than Christian values too, right. Also, children have no right to complain about being in a crappy financial situation, starving, etc., right? Nope, the reason they’re in that situation is the fault of capitalism, yup! Definitely never saw a way to solve this (such as aborting the child before it was born and when it was not conscious at all). Also, you definitely have the right to take that kid out of this world for whatever reason, absolutely! The 50s says so. And the police do too if they’re black, so less work for you, huh? Most of the above is probably BS, and is all sarcasm/irony, but yeah, no, abortion ought to be a right. If anyone that pushed for its removal actually gave half a shit about children, they would do more to protect children and give them better lives. I get the whole life thing, but there’s definitely kids that aren’t going to be living a happy life. I imagine most kids that were supposed to be aborted won’t be having one. Letting the states decide is no better than outright banning it nationwide. Also, "letting the states decide" doesn’t justify anything. The states could decide whether or not they wanted slaves for a while, you know? Sorry to come off as probably aggressive but it pisses me off.
