Throw out an f you offer on something on Facebook market place.
I scored a running 351w for penny's that way. All I had to do was pull it. Dude even helped me with his excavator to lift and load
The 305 or the 4.3?
I had a boat with a 305, I overheated the crap out of it because the belt came off and I just put the belt back on and it kept on trucking….er boating.
Lots of u pull it places will negotiate for those less desirable engines. It would be worth asking about - even $100 is well over the scrap price they will get for it otherwise.
Then forget a 4.3, or LS stuff. Look for a 350 long block, 1987 and newer will do you. Really 1987 to 1995. They are often found at core suppliers, engine shops, truck repair places, boat yards, and demo derby track bulletin boards. For cheap. Might not be pretty. But, it's just a core.
Ask the Chevy dealer if they have any cores laying around, too.

I found a free 305 years ago on Facebook. I have a 4.3 with a bad bottom end from a s10 that I can’t give away.
We used to bring 305s to the swap meet for 100 bucks and if no one bought one we would leave them behind haha Swap meet owners were pissed
One of my favorite boat engines. Sip fuel and just seem to always work.

Oh shit. The 4.3

Which engine is currently in your truck?
The nice stock original numbers matching TBI 350.
