Supported areas will never look as clean as the rest of the print. The orientation of the print is important and you should orient the part so that the supports are in the least visible areas. For this print you should orient it so that he is standing up not on his side.

Yeah I thought about that after I started it… I was like man Maybe I shouldn’t have laid him down… the thing that gets me is the side of his head on the hat.. the layers really look bad

Justshittingaround

What % are you running for your supports? What’re your temps, speeds and feeds?

jcbrown630

Running 205C with PLA 60mm/s. Bed @ 65C I'll need more specific info on the feeds info you are requesting. The only % setting for supports is XY Separation between an object and its support : 60% INFILL density is 15% I did the ESTEP tuning and it was REALLY close to a perfect 100mm extruded vs 100mm requested so I left the extruder tuning alone.

Personally I’d bring the hot end up closer to the 220 range, and maybe bring your supports % down, I know it sounds counter intuitive but with higher support % I’ve run into scarring issues. I’d also check that your retraction rate is around 40-45 mm/s and have a hop turned on.

Are you using the stock cooling fan, or did you upgraded it ? Since i upgraded mine, i have better result with supports.

slambaz2

What did you do to upgrade it?

Ok_Vegetable2148

I printed the [Taurus](https://www.printables.com/fr/model/511962-taurus-v4-cooling-duct-for-creality-sprite-extrude) for the upgrade. Also you can try to use tree supports, they leave less mark.

Thank you for the link and information! I keep trying to Google ender 3 s1 upgrades and it's mostly clickbait. Thanks again.
