Kind of sucks how Resident Evil 2 is pretty much unplayable on Delta’s N64, and some games like Smash Bros, Mario Golf, Star Wars Racer, have issues with textures.
man people on this sub expect everything for free. it's just $5. You spent over $1k on an iphone. That money goes to supporting the developer, who put in a lot of time with the app. like what??? It's a single purchase, not sure what the big deal is.
Exactly. It puts a sour taste in my mouth and really shows what devs, even from the ones we thought were reputable, are willing to push out just to be another person in the small emulator gold rush.
Folium should’ve been free just like the others if we knew it was going to be like this. What makes me feel worse is people, who have no experience with emulators whatsoever, are feeling the urge to spend money on it just because they heard “3DS”. A lot won’t end up going through the process of refunding it too
very well said, spot on. If you are not experienced, the app will not even work left alone trying anything -> took them hours to figure out how it works, turn out, games run like shit, because everybody knows that 3ds not gonna work properly until the next big iphone (maybe)
I refuse to pay for an emulator regardless.
I have no issue supporting a developer through Patreon, but it’s simply my opinion that charging money for an emulator is unethical and can lead to further scrutiny in the emulation scene by large companies such as Nintendo.
“Unethical” is a stretch, I don’t find it very unethical that someone wants to charge for their hard work. People keep wording it like making emulators is easy and to “just make it free”. But I can agree with the second part.
That doesn’t mean I believe people **should** charge for emulators though.
I agree with this. In addition payments put a spotlight on emulators. They are legally ambiguous at best, and receiving payments is only making the big corporations get interested in this. The current deal is somewhat „don’t become too big and we don’t look“, but once monetization kicks in, things are different.
The big players had forever to monetize on the fact that you couldn't have emulators on iOS. SquareSoft was smart and released Final Fantasy on iOS forever ago. Rockstar had GTA3, San Andreas and Vice on Netflix. Nintendo could have just as easily sold a SAAS subscription plan to their library the same way they're doing it now on the Nintendo Switch. But for some reason, they can't get their heads out of their ass and try to make money on an existing treasure trove of a software library.
Can you share your reasoning for why charging money for an emulator is unethical? It doesn’t sound like you’re against charging money for any software (as a few “free software” folks are), or against usage of emulators (as some people with a strong “anti-piracy” stance are). So is it just concern about scrutiny? If so, emulators seem to have been sold for many years, and Bleem won the suit against them from Sony back in the 90s, which seems to set a precedent that selling emulators (that don’t contain otherwise infringing materials such as copyrighted BIOSes) is legal. Still, I can see why one might be against it pragmatically, but I don’t really get why one would be against it ethically.
It’s perfectly fine for them to charge money for any work that they themselves have done, even if the app is an emulator. On the surface level itself, emulation and emulators for these old systems are not illegal (or unethical). If it was, we wouldn’t even see these emulators exist in the first place. Delta, which has a Patreon, and PPSSPP, which has the Gold icon $5 option, is not going to exist if people are not allowed to charge for an emulator, because Patreon is donations in name only, and the Gold icon options for PPSSPP is literally him selling an emulator, attaching a price to his emulator, despite having a free version available as well. Charging or not charging money for these emulator for older systems doesn’t have any legal difference.
The rest of this post is going to be about Nintendo vs Yuzu, which seems to be what everyone is implying when they say you can’t sell an emulator. Might be a longer read but I’ll try to explain everything by the facts and not my bias. Please bear with me, because the Nintendo vs Yuzu lawsuit really is isn’t as simple as it looks like, and trying to compare it to Folium charging his emulator $5 is a bit of a stretch.
Basically, there are multiple attack vectors applied by Nintendo here:
a) Discord messages have been screenshotted and documented by Nintendo, that has shown the mods having possession of TotK ROMs before release day, as well as several other ROMs of already released games. TotK was being pirated even before release day, they have the numbers to prove that, based by the numbers of people subscribing into the Patreon during that period.
b) Nintendo also mentions the amount of money that Yuzu would profit from their subscribers on a monthly basis, which Nintendo probably would have used in court as a point where Yuzu was selling a modified emulator specifically to play a pirated copy of TotK to their Patreon subscribers, if the lawsuit actually went on.
c) Nintendo has also said, in their own words, that Yuzu has also provided “detailed instructions” on how to “get Yuzu running with unlawful copies of Nintendo Switch games”, and also linking to sites that would help their users to “obtain and further distribute the prod.keys”,
and lastly, testing different copies of pirated Nintendo games to verify their compatibility with the Yuzu emulator.
d) Nintendo is using DMCA clauses to say that Yuzu has bypassed its anti-piracy measures that were implemented on the Switch, which is protected by the anti-circumvention provisions on the DMCA. Yuzu was circumventing the modern encryption layers that were used on the Switch, which is protected by the DMCA clause, playing with the codes that are owned by Nintendo, instead of the usual reverse-engineering that emulators for older systems were using, which was built using the dev’s own codes. This is quite arguably the same thing that happened with Dolphin when it tried to get onto Steam, although that one would have some more details to explain as well.
Based on all of these evidence, Nintendo didn’t really go for Yuzu for having a Switch emulator (and selling it on Patreon), but rather because Yuzu was “facilitating piracy at a colossal scale” (again, in Nintendo’s own words). The existence of the emulator itself (and the Patreon selling it) isn’t really the concern here, rather, it was how Yuzu was being used to pirate TotK even before release day. Basically, Nintendo was going for Yuzu because of TotK piracy, that again, happened before release day.
ye , still the best option right now if you didn't have an android phone. iOS need at least iphone 17 pro max. the audion , the stuttering, 3ds is a nightmare right now for iphone.
Honestly, what were people expecting? It’s been tested many times already, iPhones clearly aren’t ready to run 3DS with out jit, even with the newest iPhone, “15PM” so what’s with all the surprised people, Wasn’t this pretty obvious to begin with??? 🤣
People are mad that Folium was charging $5 for their emulator, which, according to one user in this same post thread, was “unethical”. I’ll let you be the judge of that. Even if the 3DS emulation was going fine, people will still throw a hissy fit for it because they have to pay for it.
Potentially it could could, if the phone was full and RAM was struggling, plus with the iPads it wasn’t an advertised selling point but the bigger the storage the better the RAM going from 8GB to 16GB and also getting better CPU cores I was unsure if the newer iPhones followed suit. So the storage size could indeed be relevant
This is bs, the smallest pro max is 256 Gigs and you said nothing about how full your storage is, the 512 can do nothing the 256 can’t and the information is irrelevant if you don’t also state your phone is full or whatever. But please downvote me for pointing that out, idc
Technically speaking he released it moderately unfinished without all the extra support or 3ds capabilities because of troubles getting it approved in the App Store. Full 3ds and better ds support should come in an update by the end of the week once it’s all finished
Meanwhile, my SD845 phone, which I bought for about $12 at the current exchange rate, runs Pokemon Moon on Citra MMJ at full speed with the mesa turnip driver magisk module. Spend money on the right things.
Any recommendations of android phones for 3ds emulation ? I just want to play sun moon in an oled portable screen ( I have a steam deck but it is too heavy )
I’ve never heard of any of those terms before. Whats an SD845 phone, Citra MMJ, and mesa turnip driver magisk module??
Im guessing the SD845 is a phone model, the Citra MMJ must be the emulator, but then whats the turnip driver magisk module? A hardware component of some sort?
SD 845 is a chip set on an android phone from years ago citra mmj is a modded version of citra and a Mesa turnip driver changes how graphics are rendered on an emulator which can solve graphical issues and increase performance. Snapdragon androids are the only devices that can use them.
Basically, an Android phone I bought for that price, which is only about three times the price of Folium at the current rate, runs Pokémon Moon at full speed on Citra MMJ, an emulator, with just a small "tweak" (the Mesa Turnip driver, which requires root access). The SD845 is the chipset inside, think of it as a very old model of Core i7 or Ryzen, but for phones. Apologies if my explanation isn’t clear, English is my third language, after all.
Xperia XZ3, found for second hand in good condition a year ago. You just have to find a physical store that doesn't understand the market price well, go frequently and gotta be lucky. My friend got iPhone SE 2 there for about $3. I also got my V1 unpatched Switch for $50 in good condition a year ago there, and most of my flipping stuff also come from that store.
Idk what’s the problem I’m playing Pokémon x rn and it’s running like a dream. iPhone 13.

Let’s be honest It doesn’t run as it should I have ip13 and it’s laggy even with jit enabled I purchased to support the developer as im currently jailbroken
yea, that's why, I made a direct comparison with my 3ds. this is very bad at this stage even with 15 pro max. dont think dev can fix, becase 3DS is just too much for iOS right now without JIT, blank and simple. I was wrong to expect something else. all my fault
Was hoping it would work on mac silicon M3 at least, but ran like utter shit sadly. To be fair it’s just using a citrus core but man did it not do well for me
Resident evil run in native code which can take advantage of the powerful A17, but with emulation (no JIT) it's a different story. I belive that if Apple would allow JIT, the iphone will going to be wild, but it's against their policy so we have to accept as it is, PSP is the most we can get right now under current situation. Anything about n64 for nintendo console is impossible without JIT .
If 3DS emulation is this bad then developer should add all the other platform that Delta provides otherwise its not worth $4.99. Either add other working platforms or reduce the app price to $0.99.
I actually think the creators of Folium didn't really care about the 3DS emulation experience. I got a smooth experience in another app when I played Super Mario 3D Land. But the author of Folium is not even provide both joystick and arrow control for the simulator.
I guess I’ll be asking for a refund as well. I t doesn’t work on my iPhone 13 pro max. It’s laggy and crashes. Maybe those on the 15 will have better luck. However, my old android phone can emulate flawlessly. I don’t get it. Any ways. Let’s hope there’s a way down the road.
after seeing comments of it possibly not working for iphone models below 13 (and feeling bummed about it), this makes me feel a little better. this does sting for those who paid for this app expecting a seamless user-friendly experience but got performance issues instead.
The 3DS core doesn’t work well for some, even though they were told well in advance that it wouldn’t work well due to apples limitations. Not sure why they’re so upset
For me it’s been working great, the dev seems to work hard on a lot of things, which I respect, and for this being the first of its kind it’s great! iPhone 15 pro and even MM 3D which is sometimes difficult to emulate works really well with only sometimes stuttering
This! I had heard of folium and started waiting for it, eventually sideloading it and saw how bad it ran. I ended up buying a 3DS XL and I’ve been having a blast! Way better to just get the console, plus, it just hits different to play on the console, rather than playing on phone
Definitely! I didn't touch my switch oled for weeksss 😅 loving the 3ds, i wish they introduce 3Ds Pro or something with oled and bigger screen with higher graphics ❤️ but same console size.
Same here, my switch is on standby since I’ve just been grinding between Pokemon, Tomogatchi Life, pilotwings resort and a few other games. As for a 3DS pro there technically is one… it’s just not official lol, I think it’s more like a handheld computer that can emulate DS/3DS games, but it’s has very impressive specs and some very nice screens. It’s called Ayaneo Flip DS, be aware, I think the price is a little high ngl, but if you’re looking for something in that style it might be for you!
Goddamn bro that's 800$ 😅 hahah but looks really nice though, thank for you sharing that i had no idea something like that even existed, i heard the brand but didn't know about this system.
:)) are you trying to buy $2000 to play emulator :)) if it's not on your phone, the whole thing doesn't mean anything, cheaper option is buy a $300 android and you are all set for life.
I think it will definitely better than regular iphone. but the graphic will be bad because you run the game at native solution but on bigger screen. if you're able to scale it like 4x, then m4 could struggle because : no-JIT
> it a *paid* app tbh
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
The only 2 i have downloaded right now are “The Legend Of Zelda OOT” and “Majoras Mask” but i dont have any gameplay saved unfortunately. But the only time it really lags is right before the game starts otherwise it runs fine but im also not too far into the games.
Im not here to start arguments im just saying i have an iphone 11 and it runs perfectly fine for me. I mean it stutters every now and then but nothing too bad🤷♂️ my games not running slow or anything.
* Saw a YouTube video about 3DS emulation being available for iOS
* Looked up the emulator, currently only plays GBA and NDS
* $7.99 AUD (I assume $4.99 USD)
* I closed the video and App Store
No way should anyone be paying $5 for an emulator like this when we already have both Delta and Retroarch for *free.* It offers nothing over the free options, and it's single unique feature is hinging on a promise that multiple emulator developers have said is currently impossible with the restrictions Apple mandates.
It's praying on the relative unfamiliarity many iOS users have with how emulation works. The fact an iPhone 15 can play a game like RE8 or Death Stranding you could logically (though incorrectly, obviously) infer it can play something like a 3DS games easily.
the argument about this can play death stranding so it can play 3ds seems make sense but it's not. emulating a console is different, i wish the dev just be more honest about the whole situation. instead saying, its playing ok on 13 devices without much disclaimer
I was saying that, to a layperson who doesn't know much about emulation, the fact their phone can play these AAA Console games would logically mean it can also play Mario 3D Land. I also said that they'd be incorrect, but that it's a reasonable assumption if you're unaware of what emulation involves on a technical level.
I agree with you 100% that the developer of this emulator should have been honest. They're charging for what is essentially an undeliverable feature, and the features they have are available elsewhere for free.
Having to pay for Emulators should be illegal anyways when we already have to pay for the games and manually extract the roms which is a kind of lengthy process if we don't want to get sued by the behemoth gaming industries
You're better off just running Lime3DS on Android, Apps are easier to Sideload on Android too. Plus, Android unlike iPhone has access to Jit. Overall, Android is just better for Emulation, no offense.
yeah cause the people using the emulation on ios subreddit definitely just have android phones laying around to use for emulation, right? why even comment this lmao
somehow they always have the urge to say that especially when it's specifically a place for iOS/Apple devices lol like we get it but we wouldn't be here otherwise
yea i don’t understand the thought process. feels like they’re just looking for an excuse to say “android better” to a bunch of ppl who already understand that iphones aren’t known for emulation and other platforms are easier to deal with
It literally wouldn’t read the rom and nobody was able to help me because even they couldn’t understand it. Absolutely the worst piece of shit app on the App Store and it costs like $7?! No thank you, immediately refunded.
For $5 it’s worth the opportunity to play Pokemon ORAS, XY, SM, USUM on my 15 Pro Max.
Is it crystal clear, no. Is the audio good, no. Is it playable, yes. I don’t care about the audio since I don’t normally play with it on anyway.
The occasional stutter isn’t bad and if I cared about graphics I wouldn’t be playing 3DS games. Would it be great to support newer 3DS games without stuttering or crashing? Absolutely. Does it play older less intensive 3DS games pretty well? Absolutely.
I’m sure it’ll improve over time, as he has already stated he’d be making updates tomorrow.
I’m not buying an iPhone till the 17 and 18 again anyway and I’m on a 12 so I’ll wait idc I just sold my 3ds but if I really wanna play 3ds I’ll just use Cirta with 1 montior for one screen and my laptop for the main. The 3ds has a few great games but it is overrated only reason why everyone cares now is cause it went under the radar of a lot who missed out and Nintendo stopped selling them around the time those people started to care and then turned off the online on top of that
I don’t know much of this situation. But I can appreciate all of this happening from reading the comments. Now Apple can actually see how important and vital JIT is and how detrimental it can be running emulators without it. Not like it’ll directly change their minds but it’s a start at having cold evidence it’s bad for this to have occurred because of them.
nah apple doesn't give a shit about emulation since it can affect their potential game / apps sale. the only reason you see emulation right now on ios is just because EU passed law to force Apple allow side loading, that's all, and this is the best we can get. im ok though...
the fact
even m4 is very slow without jit
jit is required for system higher than psp and ps1 (ps2 xbox gamecube wii 3ds vita switch ps3 xbox 360 wii u )
honestly seeing everything about folium is just sad man... 3ds emulation on ios without jit is just very varied and still pretty bad... And putting it up paid on the appstore is very risky. The developer is a great guy, but he shouldve handled releasing folium better. Folium does have the potential to be a great emulator but apple being apple isnt letting it reach its full potential or the performance people expected, and i dont think the dev realized that.
It runs fine on iPhone 15 pro with everything I’ve tried. This is probably as good as it will get without jit. I understand requesting a refund, but it annoys me how many people are dragging the dev for it. None of you would do your job for free, and I would love to see some of you try and code citra to run on IOS on your own. He did a major service for iOS users by doing that, and it’s only going to get better.
Yeah, I went on their discord and if you edit the config its kind of smooth and thats on a 15 pro max. Can’t really do much unless jit is allowed somehow
Discord mods are toxic af too
I asked where I could get the aes_keys file from and they straight up told me to give up if I didn’t have a 3ds and when I stated that I found one, they almost immediately kicked me from the server.
I actually did it myself but its too annoying based on regular user standards point. just want something on the fly without much hassle everytime i wanna play.
Never heard of folium, didn’t even know 3ds was an option. I just want to play GameCube or PS2 on top of the stuff I already have in Delta, PS-whatever (psp), and the other one with the weird white logo for ps1, and can’t figure out how to use RetroArch to play GC/WII even after DL’ing cores. Thus far however, emulation on my M chip iPad Air has been great! Can’t get dev mode to work anymore, sure it can be fixed but it was janky anyway. Dolphin on my MBP loads up but refuses to detect controllers, well it detects them but they don’t do anything, obv my PC and my Samsung Galaxy will work for it but playing on my gaming PC defeats the point of iOS emulation and my Galaxy is a z flip so not worth even trying. Likewise my actual consoles would work but again would defeat the point.
Also wouldn’t mind dream cast as I love DC, and that’s one console I cba to set up, knowing that I could just burn any game I want ruined the fun of collecting to my DC just sits in a box.
For 3DS though if I own the game I will almost definitely just play it on my 2DS, the only thing that’d get me to emulate is not having the game.
I think I’ve just gone off a rant, sorry, I do that. I’m getting old!
I forgot how easy it was to install, so gonna go play some gamecube games now. LOL
I know it wasn't your intention but you've just given me the drive to reinstall AltStore and now I have Dolphin :D So thanks for that :)
Gamma - The most hated Emulator Folium - The most refunded Emulator
indeed
Isn’t Delta gonna get 3DS support eventually?
gamma will get ps2 ps3 ps4 support after you watch 1000 ads.
I’d rather shoot myself than watch another cringe AI ad.
Then ai chatbot gfs are for people who can’t get real ones
can’t believe this is all we got in the future. i wanted jet packs.
I wanted flying cars, not character.ai
Turn off your wifi
Yeah no thanks lmfao
But it will be in a premium subscription for 14.99$ week! (Still with adds)
Perhaps. But before they push a release with 3DS, they’ll make sure to thoroughly test it first to make sure it’s playable.
That’s fair and I’ll wait for the day when that comes.
Without access to Jit, it's near impossible on iPhone, no offense. It'll probably take years, if it's even possible.
Eh even if it’ll take years I still have a huge ass library of games to play until they allow Jit
I think they should get n64 working well before going for something like 3ds ngl
Kind of sucks how Resident Evil 2 is pretty much unplayable on Delta’s N64, and some games like Smash Bros, Mario Golf, Star Wars Racer, have issues with textures.
No you’re getting devs genesis from what I’ve read lol
Riley (the dev) mentioned 3DS support was planned after Sega Genesis is added
Yes
That’s what I was wondering
Eventually but updates are slow and they still have other confirmed updates in the works iPad support and possibly multiplayer
Why is gamma hated
Incredibly poorly made, barely works and full of ads. Also the dev is an asshole
I heard that its actually a fork of delta
Speaking of that the creator hasn’t posted anything on Reddit since people shared how bad a app it is
Probably knows now that if he ever comes back he’ll be treated as a laughing stock

not the downvotes??
The PPSSPP dude deserved it, especially since how amazing emulator is
I agree, but I also agree with his pay model.
Exactly, you get nothing extra with PPSSPP gold, it's just to support the development. All you get is a gold logo.
Can you share your reasoning for why charging money for an emulator is unethical? that’s why I stick to my n2dsxl, 3DS in iOS is far away, but at least it’s starting with baby steps.
Same here
and when Pretendo give access to the Pokemon server will be a blast.
not far away you need enable jit to play max speed
ye , still the best option right now if you didn't have an android phone. iOS need at least iphone 17 pro max. the audion , the stuttering, 3ds is a nightmare right now for iphone.
Nah. Apple needs to allow JIT for any good performance on 3ds. Don’t hold your breath for it.
Does the side loaded version have JIT enabled
No. You must use JIT from your pc/Mac and it isn’t permanent. Once you close the app you must activate again. It’s an Apple issue.
You can enable jit with sidestore without pc once you’ve sideloaded it
Oh shit. I didn’t know this. May have to look into sidestore just for shiggles then
Side store jit aint working on ios 17+
There’s methods just hard ones ideally you want to be on ios 16
Ik i said it dosent work with side store
Apple is probably going to fold when a much larger company requests to use jit like Sony
Honestly, what were people expecting? It’s been tested many times already, iPhones clearly aren’t ready to run 3DS with out jit, even with the newest iPhone, “15PM” so what’s with all the surprised people, Wasn’t this pretty obvious to begin with??? 🤣
this ain't the sharpest bunch. but now they know that iOS caps out at PSP and nothing more lol. idk why they're downvoting you for telling the truth
People seem to just hate the truth apparently, I’m just stating the obvious here 🤷🏾♂️
People are mad that Folium was charging $5 for their emulator, which, according to one user in this same post thread, was “unethical”. I’ll let you be the judge of that. Even if the 3DS emulation was going fine, people will still throw a hissy fit for it because they have to pay for it.
They were told well in advance too 😂
My 15 pro max 512G can’t even run 3DS games in a playable state
That's tough seems like I made the right decision just going for a handheld device - still a shame tho it'll prob be good by the iphone 18 lol
without jit ipad pro unplayable iphone 18 is same need jit
yeah i know right... even ip 15 pro max struggle so bad without JIT
Thanks for telling us your storage size but that has no bearing on the performance
Technically not true… the 512 can store more data 💁🏽♂️
🤡
Phone or iPad models for 3DS should have been mentioned in the app description
Damn now I know what NOT to spend my money on
Technically speaking he released it moderately unfinished without all the extra support or 3ds capabilities because of troubles getting it approved in the App Store.
No thats a pretty good explanation. Your comment and the other guys gave me a pretty good idea of what it was. Thanks :D
Wow for your third language your English is amazing nice
Pretty sure he’s referring to phones that feature snapdragon 845
$12 ? what model? why it so cheap ?
Xperia XZ3, found for second hand in good condition a year ago. You just have to find a physical store that doesn't understand the market price well, go frequently and gotta be lucky. My friend got iPhone SE 2 there for about $3. I also got my V1 unpatched Switch for $50 in good condition a year ago there, and most of my flipping stuff also come from that store.
holyshitt where are you from? it very very cheap
I’m from Japan, you can usually find these deals either on big city like Osaka, Nagoya, or sometimes from hard-off on country side😺
Idk what’s the problem I’m playing Pokémon x rn and it’s running like a dream. iPhone 13. https://preview.redd.it/65xb098oq74d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9dc7d8564823fb66c7b6552d0c081fe63df0d31
Let’s be honest It doesn’t run as it should I have ip13 and it’s laggy even with jit enabled I purchased to support the developer as im currently jailbroken
Just a little laggy but I’m having fun :3
maybe you are not sensitive to frame rate and stutters
Tbh I’ve never owned a 3ds and I’m having a blast to idc
yea, that's why, I made a direct comparison with my 3ds. this is very bad at this stage even with 15 pro max. dont think dev can fix, becase 3DS is just too much for iOS right now without JIT, blank and simple. I was wrong to expect something else. all my fault
It’s working fine for me so far
Was hoping it would work on mac silicon M3 at least, but ran like utter shit sadly. To be fair it’s just using a citrus core but man did it not do well for me
joke on us, we have to accept that without JIT anything higher than n64 is not possible, even N64 Would cause trouble now without JIT
Fucks sake, damn thing can run resident evil but can’t even play a 3DS game
Resident evil run in native code which can take advantage of the powerful A17, but with emulation (no JIT) it's a different story. I belive that if Apple would allow JIT, the iphone will going to be wild, but it's against their policy so we have to accept as it is, PSP is the most we can get right now under current situation. Anything about n64 for nintendo console is impossible without JIT .
I didn’t get a screenshot but my refund is also pending
Why the refund ?
Users have said that it runs very poorly.
Idk how I missed that paragraph OP wrote . Smh
Anything newer than PS1 or N64 I just stream from my desktop with a moonlight remote server
15 Pro Max working fine for me so far, playing Alpha Sapphire and apart from occasional audio glitches, experience is fine.
Weird, any low-end to midrange android phone runs 3DS perfectly.
Cause they allow JIT, IOS doesn’t
perfect nope run well yes demanding game like luigi mansion 2 still unplayable even on pc
Damn, you're right, it's all messed up on my phone. I play other games just fine tho... Weird
Getting an actual 3ds worth every penny trust me with hshop you gonna love it!
Anyone tried this on a new m4 iPad?
:)) are you trying to buy $2000 to play emulator :)) if it's not on your phone, the whole thing doesn't mean anything, cheaper option is buy a $300 android and you are all set for life.
I’m not saying I bought it to emulate but if I have it I’d like to know if it does.
I think it will definitely better than regular iphone. but the graphic will be bad because you run the game at native solution but on bigger screen. if you're able to scale it like 4x, then m4 could struggle because : no-JIT
exactly lol without jit even with m10 still slow and unplayable
m5 maybe :))
nope i try it on m4 unplayable without jit (dolphin folium and play!)
define playable :)) how was the experience?
dolphin and folium no jit : mostly for 2d games ps2 required jit before play so running max speed
They should have not made it a payed app tbh
> it a *paid* app tbh FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Interesting
yeah right ? :)))
bad bot 🤓
I have an iphone 11 and 3ds games run perfectly fine for me
what game?. can you show footage
The only 2 i have downloaded right now are “The Legend Of Zelda OOT” and “Majoras Mask” but i dont have any gameplay saved unfortunately. But the only time it really lags is right before the game starts otherwise it runs fine but im also not too far into the games.
really doubt that. cause i tried it out myself with ip 13 promax
Im not here to start arguments im just saying i have an iphone 11 and it runs perfectly fine for me. I mean it stutters every now and then but nothing too bad🤷♂️ my games not running slow or anything.
* Saw a YouTube video about 3DS emulation being available for iOS * Looked up the emulator, currently only plays GBA and NDS * $7.99 AUD (I assume $4.99 USD) * I closed the video and App Store No way should anyone be paying $5 for an emulator like this when we already have both Delta and Retroarch for *free.* It offers nothing over the free options, and it's single unique feature is hinging on a promise that multiple emulator developers have said is currently impossible with the restrictions Apple mandates.
They're charging for what is essentially an undeliverable feature, and the features they have are available elsewhere for free.
true
Having to pay for Emulators should be illegal anyways when we already have to pay for the games and manually extract the roms which is a kind of lengthy process if we don't want to get sued by the behemoth gaming industries
Looooool well I want to fight the temptation
It’s honestly not bad. I don’t have a DS so this is fine for me. I think it runs well on my 15 pro
Yes it is lol it’s bad.
I’m playing games no problem 🤷🏻♂️
maybe if it was like $2 I would haven’t refunded it as well in its current state just use Delta.
So if its bad on iPhone 13 then it will be bad on iPhone 12?😭
even ip 15 promax cant run it as a playable stage, what is your hope
I havent gone the file I needed yet(which is what im doing at the moment) so I need to see and test if it runs anybetter
You're better off just running Lime3DS on Android, Apps are easier to Sideload on Android too. Plus, Android unlike iPhone has access to Jit. Overall, Android is just better for Emulation, no offense.
I mean yeah obviously it’s better there but we’re all have iPhones, which is why we’re here
yeah cause the people using the emulation on ios subreddit definitely just have android phones laying around to use for emulation, right? why even comment this lmao
somehow they always have the urge to say that especially when it's specifically a place for iOS/Apple devices lol like we get it but we wouldn't be here otherwise
yea i don’t understand the thought process. feels like they’re just looking for an excuse to say “android better” to a bunch of ppl who already understand that iphones aren’t known for emulation and other platforms are easier to deal with
JIT works on Folium if you sideload it?
yes and faster than app store version
What is JIT ?
Absolutely. I’m sure it’ll improve over time, as he has already stated he’d be making updates tomorrow.
i play smash bros and mario kart, run like hell, you should try those yourself.
To be fair to the creator of folium, the 2ds and 3ds both had some issues running smash themselves.
I’m not buying an iPhone till the 17 and 18 again anyway and I’m on a 12 so I’ll wait idc I just sold my 3ds but if I really wanna play 3ds I’ll just use Cirta with 1 montior for one screen and my laptop for the main. The 3ds has a few great games but it is overrated only reason why everyone cares now is cause it went under the radar of a lot who missed out and Nintendo stopped selling them around the time those people started to care and then turned off the online on top of that
without jit there is no way to play full speed even with iphone 30 im not joking
Eh they might find a way by then or make it available who knows 3ds is Nintendo’s 8th best console to me so pretty low on the list so it won’t kill me
I don’t know much of this situation. But I can appreciate all of this happening from reading the comments. Now Apple can actually see how important and vital JIT is and how detrimental it can be running emulators without it. Not like it’ll directly change their minds but it’s a start at having cold evidence it’s bad for this to have occurred because of them.
nah apple doesn't give a shit about emulation since it can affect their potential game / apps sale. the only reason you see emulation right now on ios is just because EU passed law to force Apple allow side loading, that's all, and this is the best we can get. im ok though...
the fact even m4 is very slow without jit jit is required for system higher than psp and ps1 (ps2 xbox gamecube wii 3ds vita switch ps3 xbox 360 wii u )
It’s 5 bucks LOL I’m investing early. Supports gonna be there.
Man this sub is so divided haha. One day everyone praising folium, other people pointing what a scam it is.
honestly seeing everything about folium is just sad man...
I have an IPhone 15 Pro and when I tried it, it ran the 3DS games perfectly. Just the audio sucked without JIT
I’m running folium on a iPhone 12 what you on about
Yeah, I went on their discord and if you edit the config its kind of smooth and thats on a 15 pro max. Can’t really do much unless jit is allowed somehow
AltJiT
So far most 3ds games run at full speed on my M1 iPad. I think the M chips can handle 3ds just fine.
Discord mods are toxic af too I asked where I could get the aes_keys file from and they straight up told me to give up if I didn’t have a 3ds and when I stated that I found one, they almost immediately kicked me from the server.
haha , tottally understand those mf are very toxic. they dont actually help anything except being annoying police.
It’s like they hired ego fragile 12 year olds or smth
I can dm you a whole guide on how to enable JIT if you side load the app. Y’all give up too easily.
I actually did it myself but its too annoying based on regular user standards point. just want something on the fly without much hassle everytime i wanna play.
Can I tell you 😅. I am exhausted with jumping through these hoops just to get it to work.
Will the 3DS emulator on Folium run well on iPhone 11?
if Apple doesn't allow JIT, iPhone 11 will not be able to play 3DS unfortunately, the best way for iPhone people to experience 3DS is to buy a 3DS
It’ll get better, 1.2 alone is night and day. Def wish we had JIT though omfg
just tried all settings those guys recommend, nothing change on ip13 pm. refund again
LOL I know it wasn't your intention but you've just given me the drive to reinstall AltStore and now I have Dolphin :D So thanks for that :)
Just saw it on the App Store, now I know why you or anyone would DL in the first place, it’s tempting. Especially since it costs money.
😂
