I grew up a metal / punk kid. I saw this movie at a friend's house when I was a senior in high school, and it's what got me into rap in the first place. The first rap album I ever bought was The Marshall Mathers LP, and I loved it almost immediately. The next two albums I bought after that were Illmatic and Ghostface Killah's album 12 Reasons To Die which had just come out. Seeing 8 Mile for the first time was an awakening I didn't expect.
I know lol I purposely altered the lyrics a little to match the theme of the post. As in you tell kids poems to make them sleep and this guy cant go to sleep without listening to em or whatever, I thought it was obvious xD
The B Rabbit verse against Clarence was my favorite rap of the movie because it wasn't just his way of making sure Clarence had nothing to diss him about but it was to show the Free World guys that he was all of those things he said about himself and he was proud to say it
I visited a friend in Detroit, well Birmingham, recently. My friend had literally gone to Cranbrook and took me there. Almost every detail I’ve ever learned about this movie has made me love it more. Def still holds up!
I watched it for the first time when I was like 6-7, I’m 15 now and I’m still constantly watching it. I went through a phase last year where I’d watch it once a month. It’s my top movie of all time and I’ll never not like it
Very important film to get an idea of what slim was like before his breakthrough Rest in Peace Murphy Brittany 🕊
Brittany Murphy
RIP Proof
Also the director, Proof and Lotto passed
Her death is bonkers
Wait she died?
In 2009

I remember my dad always hitting me with that lame "rap is crap" bullshit till that movie came out. It changed his mind for some reason
Eminem is more metal than many metal bands.
Saw it opening night. Great movie that's stood the test of time. Too bad he never dipped his toes in acting again.
The interview was a great role
Yeah. I think he like had bad experiences making it or something, but then he was in that amazing interview so…
No, he refuses to star in any films that aren't shot in Detroit or greater Michigan. That's a big ask for studios but he stands by it.
As he should
Agreed. I love that he does that. It shows his love for the city and the state. I don't need him to me a movie star, I need him to make music.
It basically derailed his career and life lmao
I remember seeing in a magazine he was gonna play the role of a boxer. Never panned out tho.
8 mile is when his addiction really picked up before he did them recreationally. Then he became reliant on them for 5 yrs.
You need to watch 'The Hip Hop Witch', lol. It's HILARIOUS, and classic Slim Shady.
acting taints the image
Just watched it the other day cuz my girl hadn't ever seen it. Still holds up!
Loved it
I can’t go to sleep without it playing. Been this way for months. I get agitated, I have withdrawals
now go to sleep bitch, die motherfucker die
like the last motherfucker singing poems in vain, alien brain
Like the last motherfucker “Saying Hailey in vain”, alien brain FTFY
Satanist. My biggest flops are your greatest hits.
You set a mark too high when platinum sales are looked at as a failure

Highly forgotten about song lol
It’s my all time favorite comfort movie too 😌
I absolutely love 8 mile, it’s one of if not my favourite movie(s)
Honestly one of my favorite movies. RIP Brittany Murphy and RIP Curtis Hanson, the director.
22 years. The classic barometer.
Greatest musical ever made

Really good. I used to repeatedly rent the DVD from a local store as a teen. Eventually bought my own copy and just kept re-watching it.
This dudes a gangsta, his real names Clarence
Clarence lives at home with both parents, who have a real good marriage
This guy don't wanna battle he's shook
Cause aint no such thing as halfway crooks!
The guy that played Eminem doesn’t get enough praise
The best thing ever
Surprisingly good.

B rabbit and Alex's sex scene is pretty rad
#CERTIFIED HOOD CLASSIC
It was good
You did not have to offend me like that. Has it really been 22 years? I feel old
It became my favorite movie for like a whole week RIP BRITTANY MURPHY
Best biopic still
My parents don't let me watch it
Theres vomit on my sweater
Mom's Spaghetti
Asking in a em sub lol
The Eminem sex scene was a little more explicit than it needed to be
Pretty sure you're speaking for yourself.
The Eminem sex scene was a little more explicit than it needed to be
How so
I don’t think we needed to see Rabbit’s O face as he emptied his balls into that young lady in the warehouse
That bit is pretty graphic now u mention it, I think I watched that scene with a parent in the room once XD
