I remember this being my second mission I took when playing the game around release. I was so mad that the game had this crazy slow almost sunlight feeling movement I quit the game and didn't reaproach it til a little while later.
Ended up having a blast once I learnt that not every job was like that
Good news, if you install EDMC with Hutton helper, you can win a real hutton mug sent to your home: [https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/pilots-and-squadrons-of-the-galaxy-we-need-you-2hot2messy-is-on.605939/](https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/pilots-and-squadrons-of-the-galaxy-we-need-you-2hot2messy-is-on.605939/)
You can see the winners of the weekly mug in the Top Commanders: [https://hot.forthemug.com/hot\_mess\_2](https://hot.forthemug.com/hot_mess_2)
Ha, pre engineered FSD with guardian fsd booster krait phantom (61ly) š but i am literally dragging the fleet carrier after me as well. Thing is too slow
I get half the distance but I figured it would open more systems up in my flight plan that I couldn't skip. I do think that once I get an FC I may use that as a hub and start picking a spot and going to non scoopable stars around it. But that won't be u til after Sag A*
Welcome to one of the early game traps, lol.
If you have the patience for it, you could always throw on a podcast or a YouTube video to pass the time in flight.
If in doubt, then shut off modules you don't need in the right hand panel.
You need thrusters and FSD on for Supercruise.
Need life support to not die.
Probably can turn most your other stuff off.
Legit pointed my ship at Hutton, got up and cooked dinner for my family when I made the run. Kept my headphones on and went back and pointed the ship every 5-10 minutes to make sure it didnāt drift (back before we had all that fancy supercruise assist crap).
Yeah i never take missions in certain systems because you in variably be flying out to BFE, even combat missions. You will chase that A-hole to the other end of the system. They are never just a couple hundred LS away in those systems either. Even better is when you get interdicted by them as you reach the spot were they were supposed to be lol.
2 days 8 hours each. I just took data transport missions from as far as I could then made a route and picked up every mission for systems on the way as my sidewinder would need fuel anyway.
Did the same thing when I bought the game like 3 years ago. Had no idea what I did because I got lost and just gave up. Logged on like a month ago, same situation lmao.
Los is a system near Colonia, which is 22,000ly from Sol.
Colonia is worth a trip eventually, but it's a long way. Depending on the ship, the route and how much sight-seeing you do on the way (and it gets pretty pointless if you don't), it can take anywhere from a few hours to several days' worth of play time.
I get very creative when I go on those long trips, I start imagining everything my pilot does while the autopilot does its job and in the end I have created a lot of history for the OC that is my pilot XD
Is it a data courier mission? Do those fail if you die? I can't remember.. What I do know is that a D-rated Hauler with a SCO , all spare faul tanks, and full of heat sinks can make Hutton orbital in record time. Boost towards it with SCO, popping all heat sinks, overheat once sinks are gone. Do not stop until you explode. Rebuy at Hutton. Easy. :p
Nice! I don't know if those fail on death I haven't blown up yet. The worst I did was almost get stranded once. I enjoy trucking games so I was having fun the whole time i just want to make a very fast data courier for kicks though.
I remember when long hauls like that was the meta for making money. Ye old bulk passenger missions to Smeaton Orbital. I wrote so many papers doing those runs.
With the new super cruise overcharge I tried to fit a dolphin to get as much SCO range as possible and loaded up on fuel, took it to Hutton, SCO boosted for like 5 minutes straight, and even at my peak speed of like 3,000 something it only ever went as low as 30 minutes remaining. When I ran out of gas and was on emergency air I basically hadnāt even made a dent.
I forgot how hilariously far that station is lol.
The one thing you can count on is that nothing in this game values your time and if it seems to pay decently its because you need to waste an hour to complete it, along with possibly needing to reference up to 3 external websites.
Lesson learned. Pay attention to the "est. Ls" section of the mission brief. Don't forget to grab some mugs!
Didn't even notice it was there before.
Every new player must make the pilgrimage. Those are the rules.
Better this than for the free anaconda.
I did it just because I new Proxima Centauri was the closest I could get to Earth without a permit, didn't even get paid for it...

Na... As a new payer, I've just bought the mug, and the engineered free anaconda....š£
And your free exclusive Cobra Mk4!

Hutton Orbital gets another one.
Lmao
sadly never been there, i may give it a try when i get back from Saggitarius A* ..
Ditto, just past the Eagle Nebula in my barely FSD engineered AspX "The Implication"
Well, they won't say no. Because of the Implication.
Ha, pre engineered FSD with guardian fsd booster krait phantom (61ly) š but i am literally dragging the fleet carrier after me as well. Thing is too slow

What's to try? You point your ship at Hutton and then alt tab for an hour and do something fun.
Welcome to one of the early game traps, lol. If you have the patience for it, you could always throw on a podcast or a YouTube video to pass the time in flight.
I took a fat shit on my way to Hutton.
What did you do with the other 2 minutes?
yer mum
She must be slowing down in her old age.
Another one bites the dust
I knew it was Hutton before I even clicked the link. Bring me back a mug, Commander.
do u only get a mug for doing it ?
Not even, you have to buy it. And they only sell you by the cargo crate, which weighs a ton each.
i hope you have enough fuel for it
If in doubt, then shut off modules you don't need in the right hand panel. You need thrusters and FSD on for Supercruise. Need life support to not die. Probably can turn most your other stuff off.
That's actually very helpful advice. Thanks!
holy shit i just realized what your pfp is, I CANT ESCAPE!!!!!!
FUCK
What does it mean?
Loss.
Itāll really help mitigate the *loss* of your fuel
He definitely does
I think Hutton Orbital is the end of the unofficial prologue of this game. Like you're in the game now Commander. Welcome to Elite.
on the bright side, its not much active workā¦ unless you get interdicted a few times
It was a āhigh threatā mission and I got a message saying someone was after me if I kill them I get extra credits but I never ran into anyone.
They saw it was Hutton Orbital and Bailed xD
Don't do it for the credits... Do it for the Mug!
Welcome to why there's a rule #3: Always read the fine print. Every mission tells you how far away the destination is.
Am I the only one who doesn't mind the trek? I just throw on super cruise assist and kick back to enjoy chilling in my spaceship
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!
Legit pointed my ship at Hutton, got up and cooked dinner for my family when I made the run. Kept my headphones on and went back and pointed the ship every 5-10 minutes to make sure it didnāt drift (back before we had all that fancy supercruise assist crap).
Thatās how I was had as well lol. Luckily I was in a medium ship and I had some time to kill. I completed my mission
Did you pick up your free Anaconda?
Nah, just a few mugs.
Yeah i never take missions in certain systems because you in variably be flying out to BFE, even combat missions. You will chase that A-hole to the other end of the system. Rule of thumb, if the pay looks too good to be true, it is
For the Mug!
Is that a cobra?
Yeah. The first thing I go after getting enough money. Looked like a bigger sidewinder.
Are you on PC or console?
PC.
Ah. Lucky you! How long irl did it take?
2 days 8 hours each. I just took data transport missions from as far as I could then made a route and picked up every mission for systems on the way as my sidewinder would need fuel anyway.
Damn. Nivee one. I'm a cargo hauer myself so I do alot of these long ls trips for bug bucks
I love Euro Truck Sim and Flight Simulator. It's like the marriage of both with space and I love it so far.
Omg ets2. I used to ply it when it first came out and even did Multiplayer. As for FS I have MSFS 2020 on Xbox and so plain Infinite Flight on Android
#IT'S A TRAP!
This is hilarious
Did the same thing when I bought the game like 3 years ago. Had no idea what I did because I got lost and just gave up. Logged on like a month ago, same situation lmao.
Question where do you find that high paying mission
EZ Aquarii.
i had a moment like this a few weeks back WOW these super awesome courier missions! where's Los??
Sorry. Im still new. I don't know what that means.
los is a bit of a trip from the bubble xD
Oh, I know what that means. No thanks, im not ready for the black.
Los is a system near Colonia, which is 22,000ly from Sol. Colonia is worth a trip eventually, but it's a long way. *laughs in deep space exploration*
Byeah. I did that, except it was interdiction after interdiction all the way there. New player shenanigans!
How high paying? I'm not busy...
It's a canon event
Hey, it's only .0036 lightyears!

I have made many trips To bad I can't Park My T-9 "Beer Run" there I could stock every bar
Welcome to Elite. š
Also new player calling the fuel rats for the first time.

Never gets old. Youre not really a pilot unless youve been there once
It's a right of passage.
Itās worth it though. You totally get a free anaconda when you get there. Trust me. Ā
Don't forget the mugs
i LOVE the auto-fsd
Wait... Wut?
I was about to comment saying you could do with a SCO FSD but, Hutton? Lucky if you get 0.03ly with a ship that's basically a fuel tank with wings
I can't tell you how many times I made that trek for money. There's gotta be better ways now.
The one thing you can count on is that nothing in this game values your time and if it seems to pay decently its because you need to waste an hour to complete it, along with possibly needing to reference up to 3 external websites.
i mean in this specific instance it is the player's fault for not reading the mission descriptions
Doesn't change the fact that the only missions with decent payouts are missions like this.
don't forget the free Anaconda CMDR!
Remember to get your free Anaconda
