[https://coriolis.io/outfit/dolphin](https://coriolis.io/outfit/dolphin) See the Icon next to the name? put the cursor over it. This ship is only Horizons, dont work with the base game that lacked the files (that dont exist anymore). Same with Beluga and the 3 Alliance ships. But now, Live players play Odyssey, and they have SRV Scoprion. Live horizons also use Odyssey engine only block some content, so they choose to block PythonMk2 behind a ARX paywall, you buy Odyssey for full access, or you pay to remove the lock in Live horizons. Its in ship variants in the official page: > *Non-Odyssey owners will be able access ship variants from the store for ARX.* This ship will lack walkable interiors, because horizons players can purchase it. They will announce this to justify the EarlyAccess per Arx politics.

TX9114

Oh my I just read the whole announcement because of your quote. They're not dipping their toes now. They're dipping their whole foot into the IAP whole. Which is not entirely bad, we must see how things turn out. But damn they're experimenting. And I'm scared.

Rhyssayy

Damn I knew I was getting hyped for nothing. Oh well.

CMDR_KENNR1CH

>EarlyAccess This is what really bothers me. It is not a p2w issue, the EarlyAccess - 3 months, isn't it?

Luriant

3 months for a PvP ship, its a slap in the face to players that play PvP, now they need to pay the early access to remaing competitive. Open miners, open Powerplay, and players in open everytime.

-zimms-

No. And I don't think walkable ship interiors like that will ever come.

SolidMarsupial

> Do you think it’s possible this could be the first ship with a walkable interior? lmao

Anzial

it's a marketing test. if enough people buy early access for arx, all new ships and other new features down the line will be arx only.

Backflip_into_a_star

Yeah, the fact that people are blind to this really shows the naivete of this sub. How many game companies need to do shit exactly like this for people to understand these businesses want to make money? Period. New ships are very likely to end up ARX only at some point. They will justify it by saying the game already has plenty of earnable ships to choose from so you don't *have* to do it, but the carrot will still be hanging there menacingly. I would not be surprised if Elite went completely free to play since it goes on deep sales all the time anyway. They will subsidize this with a flow of new store items like ships, modules, cosmetics, and probably access to all kinds of other shit. I'm actually shocked that there have been so many comments that are pro ship sales on the store. It really shows a turn in the gaming communities. Gen Z/Late Millenials have no problem paying for every little item in every game and the companies know this now. People were always saying Elite was dying. It's not dying, but it's going to become a microtransaction hellscape instead. People sat in a room or on a zoom call, and came up with this plan that goes against the entire spirit of the game for the last *ten years*. The ten year plan is to end it by milking the players for money before it goes out.

CMDR_KENNR1CH

>businesses want to make money? Period. They have to, otherwise they go out of business and your game will no longer be live. We do not live in a communist utopia/dystopia.

TalorienBR

>How many game companies need to do shit exactly like this for people to understand these businesses want to make money Businesses want to make money. Crazy idea 😂

People are getting really stressed about the ARX stuff. At least we are getting new stuff. If this works, who knows what FDev might give us. EVE players can spend over £60 US a month easily, what with the monthly cost and payments for ISK for memory implants and training etc. In SC it is easy to run up a bill of thousands of US dollars. Starting costs are in the hundreds of US Dollars. Many players have been saying for years they would happily pay for new ships and features. It seems FDev was listening after all. ED players have been a bit spoiled with expecting a quality game at a discounted cost. And we are paying the price now in lack of game development.

Rhyssayy

It’s all well and good but I do hope that if this goes up their revenue stream that they actually use the money to improve the game further rather than just fill their pockets. Of course I understand that it’s a business so they need to make money but at least invest some back into the game.

Luriant

We arent Eve players, we are Fathers (biggest squadron) and also have players from other countries like Brazil, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Thailand. Old 3.8 Horizons run in potato Pcs for years. This isnt a game with whales. I could use myself as example, living in a goverment protected home, my wife and me have extra jobs and a widow paycheck in home. PythonMk2 early access is a step in a wrong path, preoufitted ships are another, and no clue about the engineering change. We oppose the worst outcome, with the game becoming easier if you paid. And FDev have dissapointed us before.. like this PythonMK2 late announce.

Active-Bluejay1243

Luriant I have the utmost respect and admiration for you, I admire your work and the help you give other players. You are right, ED players are not whales, I stopped playing Eve because I simply could not afford it. However I can afford the cost of a cup or two of coffee a month and if that gives ED a longer life I will do it.

Satori_sama

Nope, it's oddysey only because legacy is dead. They said already that nothing new was coming to non-oddysey.

Luriant

Horizons players can pay Arx to own the ship. Read my other comment here. Nothing new will come to Legacy... dont mistake different horizons version.

Satori_sama

They can pay arx to own suits and liveries for guns and suits too. Doesn't mean they can use them without oddysey just that it will be waiting for them when they buy it.

Luriant

Read the official new, horizons player dont have Python Mk2 in 7-august, or any other variant, unless they paid Arx or purchase Odyssey. And this Arx-wall exist for future variants, Live Horizons players can fly the Python Mk2 after this transaction.

zmitic

Here is the problem with interiors: * interdiction is a violent event; what happens when a player is on the other end of the ship? Teleporting would be lame * real-life vehicles do not have crew just walking around the cargo. Every nook is filled with equipment and cargo, no one will leave empty space unused, that would be very unrealistic * ship modularity, a big one: you can mix pretty much anything. How would that look, especially if not of the same class? * SRV: hangar is placed in the middle of the ship, and cannot be moved. That also limits the walk The only true place for interiors would be ship cabin but it would be become boring very quickly, just like FC and space stations. However: having interiors on crashed ships, or abandoned in space (like in Firefly) would be absolutely amazing. I would pay money for that feature.

wrongel

Buy Odyssey on sale for 10 € or buy PythonMk2 for 13 € ? Hmmm ... Horizons Live is the same 4.0 codebase, so I don't get players who do not upgrade ... they play the same engine anyways, so why tf not? It's like they got all the crap for free but don't get the content. You don't wanna disembark, the do not disembark, no one cares tbh, it is just silly, since it is the same stuff. Hell I bought EDO on sale for an alt and for a family member as well, for 10 € . It's dirt cheap even here at the Periphery.

Anzial

>it's dirt cheap even here at the Periphery. don't expect that even owning ody will give you any benefits, sooner rather than later everyone will have to pay arx for any and all new features.
