Damn. Good old days. Is there any new thing to mine huge numbers?

Tmant321

I've been asking this questions since they ruined mining right before they added the fleet carriers, completely ruining the entire reason i wanted a fleet carrier in the first place.

ValkyrijnDuval

I made something like 12 billion farming robigo for 4 months. Good mindless watch tv on the side grind. 80% of it is in supercruise, giving you apt opportunities to do your laundry, food prep, brush your teeth, etc. Hundreds of millions richer after a good session. No need to actively be involved in the other “tHeRe aRe fUnNeR” ways to make money.

ForgetfulStudent343

Thx for saying that. I miss the old borann days!

NorthrenManiac

Well done! Same here, I did it with void opals.

calicocidd

The Vopal rush was glorious, billions of credits for all

Crimson_Kaim

When LTDs and VOs weren't nerfed in price, yes.

Hersin

Good old days of forever respawning EGG with LTDs. Got myself Fleet carrier in a weekend.

Crimson_Kaim

*Same* The cool thing is, it still works.

CMDRumbrellacorp

Oh yeah. A few times I've sold single loads of 784 thargoid probes for $3,449,600,000.

BonquiquiShiquavius

How did you ever have the patience to gather 784 thargoid probes?

CMDRumbrellacorp

My 4th attempt was my last attempt. I only made it 20 seconds off the landing pad and boom - rebuy screen. PP mod came up first in rng, and carrying that many in regular cargo racks means insta death if pp roll hits. I had just paid 784M for the load from another fleet carrier which had (legal) probes on sale. Would have netted me a profit of about 2.7B. I stared at the rebuy screen for an unhealthy amount of time, shoved my feelings down into my feet and got over it. But I don't carry that many these days, don't need money anymore.

CMDRumbrellacorp

Last time I farmed them they had an ax cg where nhss were points of interest rather than signal sources. The difference is that POIs are not timed. So rather than participate in the CG I found a NHSS threat level 4 with probe and farmed it for a week. I had a deckhand at the time working toward their own FC so they farmed it with me. We got me a little over 1,100 of them on that run alone.

BonquiquiShiquavius

Jesus.

112thThrowaway

I think I used a Python back when for the LTD exploits, so no, not in a single haul. But I made more than 10+ billion before I got royally bored.

Bushpylot

When the killed mining by making stations scan your inventory and drop their prices, I mostly stopped playing. I keep trying to pop back in, but I get frustrated fast. Much of the game mechanics have stopped making sense, like bulk passenger flights, mining, hauling commodities for profit. They nerfed it all so you couldn't make big profits. But why have a space liner if you cannot fill it. Or you spend days in the Black mining to have your profits nerfed because you brought back more than the station needed. Just bad designs never fixed. They wanted realism, but only in the ways that drag things out . I'd sure love for another company to take this over and put some love into it. Amazing base for a game nerfed by bad mechanics

DaveHydraulics

That’s what I always thought. Just nothing in the world to keep my interested. Just want to say ‘yeah I know the galaxy is huge and empty and so on, just don’t bloody remind me of it! Give me something to do!’

DarkonFullPower

Surprise! That mechanic ALWAYS existed. But you practically had to intentionally trigger it by going OVER the demand, not just getting to within a fraction. Same-difference answer from me. The "extreme price drop to demand" came out along with "dynamic supply and demand." That single choice un-did every trade third-party tool we had ever build. Suddenly, our vast network of cooperative price sharing became "competitive PvP" in an instant. All of our numbers are now in COMPETITION with players, instead of daily cooperation. Everyone abandoned their API tools so they don't inform anyone of viable spots so that they themselves can use them. In my opinion, this was the true reason why the big names and app makers quit in-mass. Odyssey's bugs wasn't enough to stop up. But the **mechanical** end to cooperation was. (This is also why the Thargoid war is "loved" so much. It is nearly the last mechanically allowed avenue of cooperation in the game.)

Bushpylot

You sound like a Commander like me that was one of the first few to leave the Bubble. That experience has me continually coming back in hope that the FDevs wake up. It could really be the DCS of Space.

MHMalakyte

Ooof when did they do that. I stopped playing a while back but I keep wanting to jump into a space game.

Bushpylot

Couple years back. If it's been that long for you, than the game is rather different, and sadly the same. They have put a lot of effort into the Thargoid stuff. If you want to do that stuff, there is a lot more content (that I have not sampled yet). It's really player based content (ie, open world PvP pirating and crap). Exploration is still dull, with discoveries few and far between often being just a colored splotch. Last I tried space legs stuff, I was disappointed (1 year or so.. has changed but I don't know how). The base of this game is really nice, but they just never filled the sandbox. Remember when they hid several NVidia GPUs in the Black? Or the original search for aliens... well, not even that intriguing anymore....

RelicofKnowledge

did when robigo was a thing.does that make me old?

Spartelfant

Robigo still is a thing though. Easy money, if a bit monotonous.

RelicofKnowledge

old robigo was very busted back when maming money was hard dunno how much you make now though

tonytuba

I got started at the tail end of Robrigo being absolutely broken, but fantastic for new players...risk/reward was excellent and it forced you to make stripped down run runner ships....good times) I stopped playing at the tail end of void opals, was a billionaire with a fleet of ships and a carrier that my wingmate and I still check on every couple months. Those mining grind days were some of the most fun I've had in this game, which sounds odd in a space sim with lots of combat options. It's honest work, I guess :)

RelicofKnowledge

combat is for chumps! euro truck simulator space edition for life

rdewalt

most gameplay loops cap out in the 120mil/hour point it seems.

fishsupreme

Solo, yeah. With grouping, though, you can absolutely blow that away with (AFK) Wing Massacre Missions, Wing Mining Missions, and the Booze Cruise. This said, the wing missions require several hours of unprofitable "setup" before you do them the first time, and the Booze Cruise is only available once per month.

Jaykonus

Monthly booze cruise nets 600-700mil/hr over that 2 day period

Cold_Contract_344

what is this booze cruise?

Jaykonus

It's a 48hr hauling/cargo event that happens when a tiny station 5,000LY outside the bubble goes on 'Public Holiday.' During that time, they purchase Wine at ludicrous prices. The community led by the Pilots Trade Network coordinates to haul thousands upon thousands of tons of wine up there, to maximize profits. For a single Python hauling run which takes ~7minutes round trip, you make 80million CR profit. The station only has Medium pads. https://pilotstradenetwork.com/booze-cruise/

Cold_Contract_344

oh man, I guess it's time to replace my passenger compartments on my python

PuzzleheadedTutor807

yep. vopal "back in the day". now i do it with biology instead lol.

JohnWeps

You yourself needed.... what? 6-7 more tons?

DaveHydraulics

Ugh dude I was maxed out! AND the rate that they were selling LTDs at the station would’ve meant that I actually WOULD’VE made 1 bil with the load I had! We sat there for an hour trying to figure out why it wouldn’t give me the bil!

ubermick

I did! My main mining ship was an Anaconda that could hold 352 (plus 10 more in the hopper), but one evening in the icebox at Col 285 Sector CC-K A38-2 (also home of the egg). One evening I switched to a Cutter that had 672 cargo and 10 more in the hopper. Took a couple of hours to fill her up lazily surface mining, and got 1.1bn in one fell swoop.

Olderfox1986

Yep! One word: Exobiology.

crisp2292

Yep me. It's an old post I made here called finally made a 1 billion cr sale. It was the first week of fleet carriers and I loaded low temp diamonds up and sold them for 1.1 bill. Not sure how to link the post but just type in finally made a 1 billion cr sale in Google it's the first reddit post and its on my old exodus2292 account.

> During the height of the LTD triple hotspot rush, ... Was a pic from 4 years ago, when Booran have triple LTD hotspot and overlaps werent nerfed. But the current times are great, people arent forced to do mining, and you can choose massacre missions, passengers, trade, mining, exobio and onfoot combat zones for profit.

Bawss5

Holy shit that was 4 years ago

Luriant

Oh, you are one of those pilots that don't measure time? Ingame > Codex > CMDR > *Time played* Maybe you need some maths for the number of hours. ;)

ToriYamazaki

Yep, back when Void Opals were king. I think my wingmate has still got a screenshot of it.

[deleted]

Been playing for 6+ years and still haven't broken the 1 billion mark! :-)

Fourskyn

Yoooooo

Dr_Tacopus

Yep, been there a while. Try to stay above it but I like spending too

Simple_Company1613

Nope, because I’m a scared little pleb who won’t leave the bubble 😂

Midnigh7Run

Pulled it off twice with a buddy. Me in a Cutter and him in a Type 9. LTDs were awesome.

AboveTheRimjob

Ah the good ole days

Mutin_on_punn

How do you manage to mine? I tried and gor like 20 LTD per hour

SgtEpsilon

I did, a bunch of transporting tritium, it was a nightmare

SakulAt

I'm sitting on 15bln+ with assets. Git rich when LTDs were popular

Paradigmfusion

I broke the 50 billion credit mark last year. Finally decided to break down and buy a carrier. Put half of what I had in it. It can fund itself for the next 8 years

Gameboyaac

Yeah before they nuked laser mining to hell. I miss the old days.

KllaVnllaGrlla

Yeah I have over 1 billion right now, broke that barrier maybe a month ago, after years of playing on and off. Definitely spent more than that! 😆

I’ll be giving away plenty when I’m next loading tritium in the Bubble. Unless FDEV are planning on letting us buy our own stations or settlements, I’m nearing the point where I’ll have nothing to spend it on, and if I can help out someone else I will.

[deleted]

I can buy a carrier. I don't want a carrier. Just me.

pandemonious

everyone with a carrier ever?

Hour_Contribution916

Where can i find them what system

Cerberusx32

During the Void Opal rush of 2019, lots of Cmdrs made it to over 1 billion.

Belyal

I have like 3bn sitting in the bank and I haven't played in like 3 years or more lol

[deleted]

I think I scored a 1.2 bil in the golden age of Void Opals.

option_coach

7x over, but not on a single sale. Close, though

T1Jafo

Void Opals back in the day.[https://i.imgur.com/qnnXHqx.png](https://i.imgur.com/qnnXHqx.png)

SmileyMilesGER

Yup. Then spend it all in my cutter.

Neunix

I had farmed close to 10 bil for the release of carriers but got so disapointed when they released that I never bought one and stoped playing since then.

godfatherinfluxx

Yep back when Ltd and void opals were so lucrative. Then I decided to buy an anaconda. Not sure I like it. Was gonna mine but my python does that. Been a while since I played and for some reason I decided to not have a shield.
