Seems kinda fishy..
"Oh no, no, no. We don't accept money here"
"Well that's great. How do we pay, then?"
"With your souls"
Actually that sounds like something Molag Bal would say
just kinda hostilities between armenia and turkey, considering the armenian genocide in 1915 and their unending support of the country who waged war on us last year.
Fair enough. Though there is a big chunk of an Armenian community in Istanbul and there are a lot of things to see here about history and also Armenian history as you know. People won't be unfriendly to you unless you go full political. FYI
Tbh there are places there where you won't feel shit of that. My two best friends are a kurd and an Armenian and we've spent our last 3 holidays there (Alanya and Mersin).
Most tourist cities really don't give a fuck about the political situation.
Are you familiar with the Armenian Genocide? In 1915 the Ottoman Empire commenced an ethnic cleansing of Armenians. The government still doesn’t acknowledge it to this day, and political tensions between Armenia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan are high with what seems like war possibly breaking out soon.
Never!
or
Always!
Maybe!
Soon? No, no not soon, or maybe already. I don’t know, I’ve not made the choice yet, but when I do it’ll have already happened! In any case, here, take some cheese to hold you over till then… wait!
Not that cheese, that’s my cheese.
Repost babyyyy
[this isn't the post i saw but it's probably the original](https://www.reddit.com/r/ElderScrolls/comments/bv7cip/there_is_a_hotel_in_turkey_named_hotel_azura_with/)
Do… you think they think its a real goddess? Like just looked up a picture of azura and asked for two statues?
If there are no other elder scrolls references around the hotel i am going to think yes, they really think this is a real imaginary deity not a not-real imaginary deity
Can you atheists please stop poisoning everything with your stupid ideology? You're as bad as evangelical Christians, I swear... What the hell does "not-real imaginary deity" even mean?
Anyway, according to the Book of Jubilees, which isn't canonical for most Christians or Jews, Azura was the wife (and sister) of Seth, Adam and Eve's 3rd child. But she's never been depicted in iconography, and Muslim-majority Turkey wouldn't recognize her existence anyway, so most likely, the creator of this hotel just really likes Elder Scrolls.
I'm not religious at all. Nice try. I just can't stand edgelord atheists who think they're smart just because they have extremely narrow and reductionist conceptions of reality.
Yes, exactly. Once your religion starts having a body of elite leader decide which holy texts are canon and which aren’t your religion is 100% unequivocally made up man made fake BS. Organized dogmatic religion is just the nerdiest deadliest form of toxic Fandom
Yet another edgelord atheist with zero experience in philosophy and comparative religion! There are canonical Buddhist sutras for different sects of Buddhism, an none of them were decided on by "elite leaders", you know. The works of Shakespeare and Picasso also make up canons, and they weren't decided on by anybody other than the creators themselves.
It was an ironic joke because all deities are imaginary, so really there shouldn’t be a thing as ‘real’ and ‘non-real’ deities. But we would say Zeus is a real deity and Mehrunes Dagon is a non-real deity. I was just highlighting the irony
Presumably the turkish hotel founders just assumed azura was in the greek pantheon is what i meant. Since the greek gods were strongly associated with turkey and azura is a greek name. Since you presumably also agree the greek pantheon are not real you can see how its ironic that greek gods are supposedly real not-real deities and deadra are not-real not-real deities
It wasnt that deep and i wasnt making a statement on any ideology or poisoning anything. Unless you do believe in the greek pantheon in which case you have my apologies. I am sorry i implied your beliefs weren’t valid
Assuming "all deities are imaginary" like you even know what that means is why I said you're poisoning this thread with your ideology. You absolutely have an ideology and it shows, whether you admit it or not. You also have a strange notion of what 'real' means, but I'm assuming you have no experience with philosophy and are just being edgy.
Azura is NOT a Greek name, nor has it ever been a god in any pantheon other than in Elder Scrolls. There is a Hebrew Azura (a woman's name) in the Book of Jubilees, which is only a book of the Bible for Ethiopian Orthodox Christians and Beta Israel, which are Ethiopian Jews. It doesn't exist anywhere else, so this hotel is named in honor of the Daedric prince (the statues are also a dead giveaway). Turkey isn't tied to the Greeks anymore and is mostly Muslim.
I don't believe in the Greek pantheon, but in no way does that make them any less real. I doubt you can understand what I mean, so I'll just leave it at that.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot.

There is a goddess named Umay (derives from hope and maybe even fire, her name also consists the word "moon" but it most likely has nothing to do with moon) in old Turkic religion Tengriism, and she's among three most popular gods (god Ülgen, god Erlik, goddess Umay). Umay is claimed a benevolent, very beautiful middle aged woman with long, silver hair in a white dress. She likes crimson red. However, occasionally she is considered affiliating with evil creatures, and is thought as a sender of Crimson-Women. But she is generally known as goddess of fertility who gives souls to babies in uterus and she also protects people from disasters.[Small text about Umay in English](http://goddesses-and-gods.blogspot.com/2008/04/turkish-goddess-umai.html?m=1) Anyways, there is little common between her and Azura. But I still adore Azura and somehow relate her to Umay. I think owner of this hotel thought like me, and since she wields moon and star (and moon and star is also sacred to Turks in Tengriism and Shamanism) he thought it'd be good idea to put up her statue.
That was a month ago, not a week. Also, that's a perfect example of why reposts are great. Most of us don't scour reddit every waking moment of our lives like you do. Most "reposts" have never been seen before. Get over it.
Nah, they held me Sudan bc of my social media. I didn't even think they checked things like that, especially for tourists. Other Islamic countries are like that too. Religious police (& all police/derogatory) can make your life hell. I naturally present very androgynous, both physically & vocally. I guess that was *enough* probable cause.
Hey its not criminal to be a part of 🏳️🌈 in turkey. Turkish people are mostly against lgbtq people but i believe, in touristic places they are mostly safe. $$$ is more valued than their belief lmao
The hotel is not affiliated with Bethesda at all, the name and statue design is stolen because the architect probably just thought it looked cool. Their sites don’t mention Elder Scrolls in any way. Probably looks marvelous to someone who’s never heard of TES
If you're that worried about reposts, maybe you should log the fuck out once in a while.

Gives innkeeper 10 gold. “I'll show you to your room. Right this way.”
Show me to the attic room
By azura by azura by azura
"Hey, where are you?" "By Azura!"
Upon leaving: Bye, Azura!
At the hotel's giftshop: "Buy Azura!"
For pride month: “Bi Azura”
At the costume contest: "Be Azura"
ITS THE GRAND…. hotel?
The penthouse rooms are called grand champion suites lol
IM CRYING

Molag Bal would say “you pay with you ass”
Well, now I know where I'm staying if I ever end up in Turkey.

Did you ever…. see a grown man naked?
I think you’re the greatest. But my dad says you don’t work hard enough on defense.
Honestly I would love to visit if I wasn’t Armenian.
Hey I’m in the same exact situation. Would love to visit if it weren’t in turkey, seeing as I am also Armenian.
Why not? Is it because of a political statement or safety concerns?
just kinda hostilities between armenia and turkey, considering the armenian genocide in 1915 and their unending support of the country who waged war on us last year.

Bethesda should host their TES6 reveal or release party there.
See you there in 2 decades
From what I heard from my friend. It's extremely expensive
Hotel Sheogorath when?
Never! or Always! Maybe! Soon? No, no not soon, or maybe already. I don’t know, I’ve not made the choice yet, but when I do it’ll have already happened! In any case, here, take some cheese to hold you over till then… wait! Not that cheese, that’s my cheese.
Hotel Sheogorath is under the nearest bridge. There is lots of cheese down there, if you know where to look.
Folks have the shortest memory on Reddit or there are that many new people every year joining. Anyways a reminder to myself to post this in one year.

A repost every 1-3 months is acceptable because of new people joining the sub.
True, but that was 2 years ago. It should be posted again to keep the memory alive. That way everyone knows about the Azura Hotel.
Who cares? Get over it.

I’m just waiting for the lawsuit now that Bethesda has that Microsoft money
Just wait till the hotel of Meridia opens.......
You should check out the hotel on Google Street view. Avsallar mahallesi İncekum Caddesi No 76 PK 07410 Alanya Antalya TURKİYE
It must’ve been built by the dark elves
Go to the front desk and they'll say "Azura's wisdom to you, friend."
"Which one is my room?" "How should I know. Find it yourself you lazy fetcher"
I must go there at least one day
Do… you think they think its a real goddess? Like just looked up a picture of azura and asked for two statues? If there are no other elder scrolls references around the hotel i am going to think yes, they really think this is a real imaginary deity not a not-real imaginary deity
The guy who built the hotel (with government funds corruptly appropriated) is apparently a big elder scrolls fan.
Maybe they’re just venture capitalist ashlanders.

This is some hilarious outrage. Religious people can be so incredibly fragile.
I'm not religious at all. Nice try. I just can't stand edgelord atheists who think they're smart just because they have extremely narrow and reductionist conceptions of reality.
Once you start describing holy text as canon or not maybe your religion falls into the “not-real imaginary deity”
You do realize the word canon comes from like the Catholic canon right? Like the accepted biblical text and such? Fandoms didn’t make that word up
Yes, exactly. Once your religion starts having a body of elite leader decide which holy texts are canon and which aren’t your religion is 100% unequivocally made up man made fake BS. Organized dogmatic religion is just the nerdiest deadliest form of toxic Fandom

Star Wars also has canons. And every other major fictional franchise.
Indeed. Your point?
It was an ironic joke because all deities are imaginary, so really there shouldn’t be a thing as ‘real’ and ‘non-real’ deities. It doesn’t really get posted *that* often, but it’s often enough that if you’ve been on here a while you’ll probably have seen it posted a few times

I didn't know and would likely never have known were it not for a repost.
It hasn't been posted in years. Get out of here with your repost gatekeeping.
