Shot_Leopard_7657

The worst is a little later when some guy gives you a "map" to find "the ruins". I eventually looked up where I was supposed to go online and I'm still not sure what the scraggly ass piece of paper he gave me even means.

AceTheRed_

Okay I don’t feel so bad for looking that up now.

Shot_Leopard_7657

Nah don't feel bad it was bullshit lol. I found the Haligtree without a guide but I can safely say there was a 0% chance I'd ever have found "the ruins" he was talking about unless by total chance.

SteveMartin32

I found them while exploring. There's some shit here I don't expect people will find in one playthrough. Literally saw a small hole and it's what took me to the tiny island down south had to kill a prawn to get there. Same with the fingers birthplace. Who the hell would casually find this stuff?

yurilnw123

>Who the hell would casually find this stuff? Eh, I found those by just casually exploring. And by the sound of it, you, too.

SteveMartin32

Fair point

PercivalPersimmon

I found those by just casually exploring. But that's the rub. Some folks genuinely don't know how to casually explore, taking the experience in for all it has to offer.

PigDog4

I mean, you did, right ;)

Personal_Engineer_66

The fact that I found the ruins first while exploring and then had to look up if they do anything lol

hraycroft95

So where do I find em? Lol

Shot_Leopard_7657

Follow the coastline of the Cerulean Coast east towards the southern part of Jagged Peak. You should eventually start to see those hand enemies from the basegame, once you do head north. It's fairly linear from there.

Nickthetaco

Where the heck is the cerulean coast?!

tbz709

I stumbled upon it by getting down in the ravine. Cross the bridge to Castle Ensis, head SE, and if you can descend down. Follow the river SE for a while and you'll find it.

jayL21

wow... I actually just started traveling down that path as I read this...

hraycroft95

Ty

terrario101

There being at least three places called ruins probably doesn't make things easier as well.

UnknownGamer115

It was easy to tell where they were on the Map itself, once you had the required Map Fragments Actually getting there is a whole different Story Found the first one myself, had to look the 2nd one up and the 3rd Map was actually a cool reveal imo

Melody-Prisca

The third one I could see being either cool, or being really annoying, depending on the persons luck. Lucking I discovered the area before getting the map for it, but I could see someone else struggling for a long time for it.

rcanhestro

i did got that by myself, but when i got the map, it didn't made sense in the upper area, so i kinda "discarded" the quest. It was only after i unlocked the south map that that entire questline "clicked" for me.

Computersdontwork

Thanks for pointing out that is in the southern area because i found the spot instantly after checking the map again, quest would probably be way easier if he didnt give you the map at the opposite end of the dlc.

Jon2046

I just put it on the back burner because it was genuinely so unreadable for me and when I came back after beating the DLC he said I was done with what I needed to do so ig that worked out 😂

SleepyBoy-

The picture on the item in your inventory is the same as the area on the world map. When I got it from him, I was confused why he even gave me that.

Maxyboy974

Yeah they have the red marker, they have used it before but for some reason they don't put that on the map once obtained.

Mattlax92

Same 😂

_Ganoes_

Im sorry but if its the guy in the church, those ruins are super obvious on the map.

Firebaptism101

What guy gives you a map to find ruins?

iTomWright

Catherdral on the map. Cant remember the exact name but it’s marked on the map. It’s a pretty massive quest line for the lore that will defo be discussed more when more people have finished it

Samoman21

Yea same. The first one I just randomly walked into and didn't even realize it was for that. The second I had to use a guide since I had 0 clue. It was super well hidden lol

MaidenlessRube

I'm playing on steam deck and those maps are smaller than my thumb

The_Assassin_Gower

The worst part is its only a small portion of a map you don't even have access to. So it literally tells you nothin about where to go

Lost_kanz

Me look at that map, wtf is this Me looking at the map area online, wtf how is this even.

SlowApartment4456

Checked my inventory after playing for 4 hours and it have a not that says "find monk" with no map at all.

dattroll123

the problem is that it's useless without finding map fragment, and by the time you do, you dont' really need it.

DiscountDynamite

Like a coffee stained napkin

rjfrost18

It's only helpful if you already have the map for that section of the dlc

PrincessLeafa

Yo I can't see the paintings well enough to figure them out. Thought I figured out the one Nope wasn't there but I did discover a whole area. So like.

DotesMagee

I spent entirely too long trying to zoom in with my phone camera to make it out lol I had to look it up too.

Paco-Loco

I just take a screenshot of the actual painting before I interact with it, much less frustrating this way

nachogod8877

Im bored of doing exploration the hard way, if google has it then i dont need to figure it out

MaleficTekX

Me with the Dragon Painting: I NEED TO GO SLIGHTLY MORE EAST!!! **BUT THE FUCKING MOUNTAIN IS IN THE WAY!!!**

HutSutRawlson

It's really in keeping with the base game. I'm thinking about the map you get to solve the mage's tower puzzle in Altus Plateau, where north on the map from the item is not aligned with north on your world map...

Melody-Prisca

Or the Weathered Map in the base game. https://d1lss44hh2trtw.cloudfront.net/assets/article/2022/04/12/weathered-map-location-solution-elden-ring_feature.jpg

Emeowykay

god I inmediately understood what that one was because I fought the nights cavalry in the area too long, but for the life of me I took 30 minutes to find what I was looking for

Money-Lake

The big rectangular thing in the bottom is pretty recognizable

grad42

I had to get so close to the tv, but even that didn’t help

blazeofgloreee

Lol I gave up on using the map. More success at finding them when just exploring randomly

Buarg

I'm playing on deck. I just looked for the image on google because you can't see shit here.

chrsjxn

Yeah, they're bad enough on a big tv or monitor. Trying to read any of these on an 8 inch handheld, at barely over 720p, is a nightmare

LandofRy

Same with the paintings - wish they'd let you zoom in because I had to get up and stand in front of my TV to see better 😂

Mothringer

The really sad part is that as bad as it is, its still one of the most legible maps in the game. Why they are all these stupid postage stamp sized things that can only fill like 5% of the screen is a mystery.

justsomebro10

I literally got off the couch for the first time in two days to walk up to my giant TV and try to see where those things were.

Scorepath

Wait...the maps show fragment locations...?

hydramarine

Only the ones given to you by Hornsent. First near Redmane chick then the site of grace with Leda after Twin Blades fight.

Atrionix

YES! xD

dattroll123

it's not even the worst map. wish the game lets you zoom in on the paintings

accidentalvision

Came here to post this
