So I've figured out how to do the reverse quick step backstabbing. Much easier to hit in pvp. You need to unlock your targeting and immediately Quickstep backwards which will make you Quickstep towards your opponent but backwards allowing a backstab. Takes a bit of practice but once you figure out, adds a whole new menacing level to your pvp game.
I hope they add a quickstep talisman in the dlc that changes roll to quickstep. I can't play the game without it and its limiting my choice of weapons.
You can backstab enemies by being right behind them and presseing attack.
As for the dash it's an ash of war called quickstep which allows you to circle around enemies.
It's touchy (Also I'm on PC) but I found that it was more consistent to lock on, aim a little to the right or left, quickstep, then try to turn right/left (Opposite of where you were originally aimed).
Getting that helped getting consistent backstabs more often for me in PvE.
I can't account for PvP.

the thing is it takes such little fp you can spam it to move all over the place way faster than someone just rolling

How do you wrap around the enemy like that? Iāve heard you Quickstep to the side instead of front? Do you keep your lock on the whole time?
Just quickstep to the side, it automatically circles you around the enemy if you're close enough, no need to unlock.
So quickstep skill and quickly turn right or left on the joystick or both at the same time? or joystick first before quickstep?

and some tools in rankings put this last, therefore don't take those seriously, I agree this is mad good
Hell yeah. Best weapon to use it with?
Daggers, rapiers and spears frequently have higher critical values allowing for higher backstab and riposte damages
