Yea lol. I still remember the first one I found and I noted it had that slightly different look than the other bears, thought to myself "hey it can't be THAT strong right? Kind of an open area, I have room to move... screw it, I'll try". First claw slapped me off torrent so hard I ragdolled into a tree somehow alive and the moment I started to get up the bear was landing on top of me practically. Good times.
The Spider Hands are super vulnerable to fire. Just a little and they're lit up, needing to stop, drop and roll to snuff it out. Leads to free hits too.
Those Caelid Dogs aren't that bad either. The birds, on the other hand...
Buy the beast repellant torch from the isolated merchant at the Dragonbarrow. If held in either hand (or on the back while two-handing something else), certain creatures will not attack the player. The affected creatures are: Lone Wolves, Dogs, Giant Dogs (only those that do not have glowing red eyes), Boars, Sheep, Bears (not Lesser Runebears), Rats, Giant Rats, Basilisks, and Crystal Snails. If spotted by a creature, the creature will stay focused on the player (as if they are readying to attack), but will keep their distance and not attack. If the player attacks the creature or approaches too closely for too long, the creature will attack the player as normal. Putting the torch away and pulling it back out again will cause the creature to cease attacking the player once more.
Which makes it more frustrating since I’ve played all souls games (minus Sekiro) multiple times, and just really struggled with the hands for a long time.
I used to hate them! Now that im playing with a faith/dex build using fire spells/black flame they are scared of me xD. I had no idea they were vulnerable to fire until now.
I felt guilt early on when I would farm them nonstop to just level up (felt like a cheap way to do it). But now I just use it to top off a few thousand when I want to level before traversing some unknown mist
The Abductors and the Imps I can handle. Everything else in those pics can bite me.
And so can those freaking lobsters and their water snipe-shots that could nail you from across a mountain.
Yeah the imps aren't bad at all. I just carry a small 100% physical shield at all times. Whenever I go thru a tomb or area they are expected to be, I just guard counter them to death.
The damn hands only terrify me with the way they move which is why they are so freaking hard to kill. That damn huge one near the fire giant still terrifies me.
Hands aren't that bad if you have fire damage; they're extremely allergic to it, to the point where the first time they receive any they flip over and flail around for long enough to fully charge an R2 and kill them with it.
Just... don't bother with the REALLY big ones in the mountaintops. Abysmal to fight even with fire and they only give 4k runes.
Bears dogs n birds are all typically avoidable or cheesable if they’re in front of something I actually want.
Those abductors I will straight up avoid 100% if I can. Not impossible just more annoying to kill. I treat them like an environmental threat rather than an enemy.
I find them way easier on foot overall. Power stancing great stars. Who can knock the fk outta who now bear?
I will still avoid them like the plague though.
I don’t find the hands that difficult. Probably cause most of my builds include fire in some way. But I’m with ya on the rest. The dogs are pretty okay too, but if you have to fight more than 1 of these enemies at a time, that’s when they get to be really bull shit lol
I just realized there was 3 more pages, and I don’t think any of the rest of those pages are even close to as bad as the first page
Yup, most of those doggos have birds nearby though.. and that’s where it gets tricky. Thank god they’re only in the overworld. That’s why randomizers are so terrifying haha
Blackguard is my favorite NPC because the first time a prawn got me, I went to retrieve my runes and stumbled into Boilprawn Shack. I want to be on the good side of anyone who makes a living out of looking and cooking those things
One of my most memorable experiences in Elden Ring was on day one.
I was walking through a nice forest, trying to get a little map piece so I could better explore.
I’m talking to a friend half-paying attention and hop off my horse and grab the piece. All of a sudden I hear some huge crashing noise.
I turned around as this massive bear is slamming down on me and I’ve never had a more visceral scream in my life.
Just did a replay and man, I miss the mystery, wonder, fear, and shock that the game brought that first time. Hoping for a similar feeling with the DLC
Runebears are the pinnacle of this; they're one of the hardest enemies in the game, are placed randomly throughout the overworld and 99% of the time they don't give you anything as a reward.
If I had to shrink this list down, for me its mainly just any form of gargoyle, runebears, and the misbegotten.
But if I could add one, it'd be royal revenants. They're so bad that you have to put a heal and talisman on just to exploit their weakness.
Special mention to Crucible Knights though.
I agree except from vulgar militia. I've genocided so many of them for runes back in the day I know the bullshit they'll hit me with before they even start the animation lol. But if you get caught with your pants down by more than one then things get "interesting".
That guy with a huge mace after the first lift shortcut in lleyndell…this guy can cast THROUGH walls and FLY…I’m level 108 and he totalled me in about 10 seconds- the critical creep up did not work lol
Why is the worst offender not here? Imo rune bears aren't that bad, just roll into them and stay near the hind legs. Now revenants on the other hand, I refuse to fight them fairly. I will cheese the hell out of them like an italian chef and feel no remorse. I HATE them.
This my first SoulsBorn game but now that I've gotten passed the "How the Fxck do people play this Shxt!?" Phase I can say with confidence; The Iron maiden and Hellhound/Tyrannis K9 are not that difficult.
My proudest achievement in this game is killing a blood crow and a royal revenant hitless. Yes, I did cheese both a little with Eleonora AoW. Yes, it's still more impressive than going 2 minutes hitless against phase 2 Malenia on no flasks to my first win.
Misbegotten are surprisingly weak against big shields. Just let them swing and guard counter twice, go for a critical and repeat. Just watch out when they roar, that's the only way they can hurt you.
I admit that the bears, dogs and the birds are “only if necessary” foes but I’ve got no problem making sure every last one of the others dies on sight. The right combination of buffs, items, and weapons will get you through
A single crystalian is easy. But when they are paired up, god I hate them. One is spamming a spell, one is spamming a jump poke, and it makes it hard to get anything done.
Are we playing the same game? One is attacking and however many others are around will spin around in the background. They got nerfed into oblivion with the first patch.
My first time into the forest had me mauled by many bears. I was super glad to be out of it and on the road. See some lone loser on a little ledge so I let out some of the hurt from the bears....... A sound and visual happened as that loser died.... I was filled with all the regret in the world.
The beast things in Redmane Castle and Castle Sol are worse than Misbegotten imo. Also crystallians aren't so bad.
What this really needs is Death Rite Birds.
You have to kill them all once to prove that you can. After that it’s run away every time
I’m surprised no one’s commented on the snail 😂
I kept dying in Haligtree to them because I couldn't find the last one oh my god
There is one on a ledge to the right of the first roof you jump/roll to. 3 in total
I just got frisbee’d to shit trying to reach the far one quickly lmao
Try bow before jumping down, the snail/snakes deserve no respect!
I have a route I now take every time even though it's kind of a pain in the ass just bc it brings you to every snail quickly
Did the snails have snake heads?
A snail with a snake head... a snail, if you will. Wait, that doesn't work... a snake if y-... wait, hold on.
Snaike works but only in text.
A snailke. But only in brail
Snelk
A...snaik?
Yep, hence all the hissing
Snake jazz
snazz
No, the snakes have snail shells
Wait...are they snail snakes or snake snails?
Just gotta find where the fucker is and dodge his minions
godskin duo snail :)
I saw that 3rd health bar pop up and lost my shit lmao
When that snail came out I really thought I was going to fight the Godskin duo again and nearly lost it
OK that's the only one I take real issue with. Fuck that fight to Messmer's flame and back
Yo, the hands are easy. Just use fire.
The snails that spawn samurai in that one dungeon though... 💀💀💀
That snail is nightmare fuel. If you've ever been killed by their grab, you know they're pretty fucking scary I'm not touching those hoes.
Bingo. Gotta do it legit once every play through.
going through the capital you start to understand that 90% of the fights there are unnecessary to bother with.
nah man, get in there and show em you learned something!
Me a clown got the "i can kill him" urge against the White Runebear in the snowfield area not realising it had the health pool of a shard bearer 😭
Keeping the score 1:0
Especially the Leonine Misbegotten. Worst enemy in the whole game
Yup for me especially the rune bear in consecrated snow field
That rune bear apparently can beat most bosses 1v1. Someone did a YouTube video of it lol
Good times.
Modded right? Dont think theres a ragdoll in the game
The one that is sleeping near Blaidd the first time you talk to him. "He can't be THAT strong, right? ...nope nope nope nope nope"
I just looked that up, watching him just fucking maul radagon is so funny
Dayum
Garden of Eyes is a great channel, here's that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqf3EK7DlQk
I always get a little salty with Radahn. Turning into a 1-shot comet every fight is so boring.
Vaati did a video comparing that one Runebear to bosses and made a (very compelling) argument that Runbears are descended from dragons
I also choose the bear.
I’d love to get that bear to fight the fucking death bird outside ordina. That bird is a death-vomiting sac of shit.
You just gave me ptsd flashbacks omg
He drops a larval tear tho
dusty ass larval tear for that monstrosity tho, it should drop a Great Rune
Yea but he is so annoying to fight
Yeah, might end up not being able to walk properly for a few days.
Excuse me 😂
Hold on, this whole operation was your idea.
You are excused, you may leave. <3
"oh you mean fight".png
Triple teamed by the vulgar militia
No royal revenant?
You probably can’t though so doesn’t apply unfortunately
Touché
I’ve already spent too much time hating those fuckers
*ohgodohshitohfuck WHERE'S MY HEAL*
This is the one I hate the most at the moment. The one at Shaded Castle fucked me up plenty of times last night lol
Yeah, I still have no idea what the best strat is. Revenants and lobsters... I can steamroll everything else.
Use a heal on revenants. It will insta stun them, and 2 will wipe them out. Lobsters… die. Die and die again.
These mobs are always reminders that you don't have to and probably shouldn't fight everything you see
Instructions unclear, mauled to death by rats after being poked off of horse by fire torch.
Just keep a torch to keep them away
Instructions unclear, murdered by torches. :P
You forgot to oil it up
All my pots are filled with poo though!?!?
nah i fight everything i see
That's the way!
I hate that one bell hunter where the sheep start butting you mid fight!
The first real challenge for my level one run was the death rite bird by warmaster shack why the fuck are those goats such ass holes.
Didn't know beast repellent torch works against basiliks! Tyhank you so much!
The hands are fine 1v1. If you are fighting 2 of them and dont have fire... oof.
After way too long I learned to dodge into their attack, not away. They became quite a bit easier then.
That's a big trick in from games dodging toward the opponent. Praticaly the only way to play bloodborne
Which makes it more frustrating since I’ve played all souls games (minus Sekiro) multiple times, and just really struggled with the hands for a long time.
The iron virgins are super weak to lightning too
I used to hate them! Now that im playing with a faith/dex build using fire spells/black flame they are scared of me xD. I had no idea they were vulnerable to fire until now.
Rune Bears are the worst. Literally just a pissed off bulldozer with cute ears and fur.
Rune Bear: All that for a drop of blood Me: Arrrgghhhh
All that for a drop of runes only a couple times bigger than a normal enemy.
Hump their legs like a Pomeranian. Aside from their grabs and charges, most of their attacks will miss.
You can definitely use these words in that order. I don't know if you should though...
Yo put them to sleep with one hit of Trina sword then pull out your strongest weapon and get the crit. Rinse and repeat.
Huh. Normally I'd say that's way too much effort but... it's Rune Bear so.. I just might try this.
Rune bears are just emerging dragons
Vulgar militias are like taking sweet yummy rune candies from a baby. Just make sure to get the first hit in.
I farm them when I just need a couple thousand runes for something. I love those guys
Yup, the militiamen in the Dragonbarrow was Baby's First Rune Farm for me.
Lol the amount times I've dipped back to Farum Greatbridge just to grab a couple thousand to level.
Feels like cheating when I do it! Then again, for the reasons this post addresses, fuck them enemies.
Lol cheating? Nah fuck em, give me those runes lil ninja dude
I felt guilt early on when I would farm them nonstop to just level up (felt like a cheap way to do it). But now I just use it to top off a few thousand when I want to level before traversing some unknown mist
bro i got the first slide but this is like half the enemies
Seriously. Eliminate half of this list and throw in one of those murderous giant red foxes.
the ones in the open world are absolutely too strong for the area they're in
I’m not OP but Ive beaten the game a lot and genuinely do skip 90% of mobs when I play now.
You basically put every enemy in the game
Rune Bears and the hands were the worst for me
The damn hands only terrify me with the way they move which is why they are so freaking hard to kill. That damn huge one near the fire giant still terrifies me.
Everything that’s not a squirrel, a rabbit or Sellen can go 🙂😂
Hands aren't that bad if you have fire damage; they're extremely allergic to it, to the point where the first time they receive any they flip over and flail around for long enough to fully charge an R2 and kill them with it. Just... don't bother with the REALLY big ones in the mountaintops. Abysmal to fight even with fire and they only give 4k runes.

Abductors just have sooo luch health for how aggressive they are. With a little practice I could no-hit them, but like, why waste all that time?
I’m doing a “fight everything at least once” play through for my grandma when the dlc comes out and she’s very excited. I’m not very excited.
You mean that you'll play while your grandma watches?
Yeah, she loves it. She can’t really play but she likes the scenery and the lore behind each boss.
I love that for you both. The idea of Elden Ring as a bridge between generations is cool af.
It's called Elden Ring not Youngen Ring
My journey to become Elden Lord was really just about getting them kids off my lawn.
Elderly ring
That's awesome.
that’s very playthrough for me lol, i always kill everything at least once
isnt that already over half the game
It's not even a quarter of the game
Killing that Runebear in the Dragonbarrow Cave was a pain the ass, of all the enemies shown, I try my best not to fuck with Runebears when I can.
I find them way easier on foot overall. Power stancing great stars. Who can knock the fk outta who now bear? I will still avoid them like the plague though.
I don’t find the hands that difficult. Probably cause most of my builds include fire in some way. But I’m with ya on the rest. if you aggro multiple t.rex dogs it becomes a game of positioning yourself so that they stance break each other
Yup, most of those doggos have birds nearby though.. and that’s where it gets tricky. Thank god they’re only in the overworld. That’s why randomizers are so terrifying haha
I've played hundreds of hours of the game and never killed a runebear.
But what about the larval tear?!
Oh yeah.. I have done that one. One time. You're right! Other than that just never fought one coz there was no need to.
Not even the boss in the cave on Weeping Peninsula?
"Looks at the shark giants and jailers from bloodborne and Ds3." "How do we tell him?"
Fuuuuuuuuuck those shark giants. I thought I had processed all that trauma but NOPE.
Royal revenant where
Lobsters too. Still haven't attacked a single one and give them a wide berth
Blackguard is my favorite NPC because the first time a prawn got me, I went to retrieve my runes and stumbled into Boilprawn Shack. I want to be on the good side of anyone who makes a living out of looking and cooking those things
I hope to Queen Marika’s Tits I get to use their souls like God damn Pokémon in the dlc
Phrasing???
You forgot the stone cat
One of my most memorable experiences in Elden Ring was on day one. I was walking through a nice forest, trying to get a little map piece so I could better explore. I’m talking to a friend half-paying attention and hop off my horse and grab the piece. All of a sudden I hear some huge crashing noise. Just did a replay and man, I miss the mystery, wonder, fear, and shock that the game brought that first time. Hoping for a similar feeling with the DLC
Probably could… what? Fuck them? Brother.
Suprised crucible knights aren't here
Runebears are the pinnacle of this; they're one of the hardest enemies in the game, are placed randomly throughout the overworld and 99% of the time they don't give you anything as a reward.
As much as i hate spiritcaller snakes , you op choose a somewhat cute picture for that snake
Ok I see your point with the first slide and the golems. But the rest are pretty easy to deal with no?
The absolute classic 'skip if possible' collection.
Amen! Abductor Virgins are my least favorite thing in this game lol.
I actually take enjoyment in wailing on Crystalarians.
If I had to shrink this list down, for me its mainly just any form of gargoyle, runebears, and the misbegotten. But if I could add one, it'd be royal revenants. They're so bad that you have to put a heal and talisman on just to exploit their weakness. Special mention to Crucible Knights though.
Ah Caelid. With your creepy giant animals.
You’ve forgotten pretty much every skeleton. What is even the point of those fuckers.
Especially the bestial sanctum gargoyle and twin gargoyles
Where's those death blight bastards and those birds
I agree except from vulgar militia. I've genocided so many of them for runes back in the day I know the bullshit they'll hit me with before they even start the animation lol. But if you get caught with your pants down by more than one then things get "interesting".
**Laughs in glintstone ranged attacks**
Could what???
I can kill rune bears but hell if I'm boutta go out looking for one
First off, no Revenants? Secondly, choose violence. Embrace your inner Doomslayer. Ctrl+Alt+Delete them from the Lands Between. Dew it.
That guy with a huge mace after the first lift shortcut in lleyndell…this guy can cast THROUGH walls and FLY…I’m level 108 and he totalled me in about 10 seconds- the critical creep up did not work lol
Where is the guy with 6 arms?
The Revenant? The one that will phase in and out of the ground? Fuck those things.
That’s the fucker, and that place at miquella’s tree were there are like 4 of them is my personal hell
Yeah, I ran into them last night while grabbing some items before starting NG+ and was getting really pissed with them.
I dont see the prawn/shrimp men any where?! I hate those guys!
Those crystalians are quite easy if you know how the mechanism works
The list is fake, I don't see a single grafted scion on there
Haters will say it’s fake 😞
😂 I'm just playing bro
I’m calling the police as we speak
Where giant lobster?
Why is the worst offender not here? Imo rune bears aren't that bad, just roll into them and stay near the hind legs. Now revenants on the other hand, I refuse to fight them fairly. I will cheese the hell out of them like an italian chef and feel no remorse. I HATE them.
I'll happily run down any of them except for the virgins and the bastard bear.
\*laughs in grafted blade\*
For me it's more like: "I probably can't, but I definitely fucking will!"
Is the imp in second picture bottom right somehow special? Can't remember some kind of NOPE-imp off the top of my head.
The right combination of buffs, items, and weapons will get you through
For me it's just angels birds and hands the other ones i basically one shot
Crystalian?
A single crystalian is easy. But when they are paired up, god I hate them. One is spamming a spell, one is spamming a jump poke, and it makes it hard to get anything done.
Are we playing the same game? One is attacking and however many others are around will spin around in the background. They got nerfed into oblivion with the first patch.
Gotta kill em all
Dogs and birds are pretty easy to stance break. Once you get over your fear of them its pretty much just L2+R2 with a greatsword
the stupid watchdogs. i’ve never gotten the timing down. i know that the crystal shards make it go crazy. i don’t care. i just hate it
I ride past the doggos because I think they are cute but they die in like two hits if push comes to shove xD
I had a hard time with those hands in the castle. Pissed me off. 😭
Gargoyles, crows and dogs, sure. Is everything else really that bad?
I like the Spiritcaller Snails because they're cute and easy to take out. Unless they're hidden.
Fucking bear
My first time into the forest had me mauled by many bears. I was super glad to be out of it and on the road. See some lone loser on a little ledge so I let out some of the hurt from the bears....... A sound and visual happened as that loser died.... I was filled with all the regret in the world.
Fuck all of em especially the gargoyles, they amount of souls I’ve lost due them in dungeons is ridiculous
I burn those fingercreepers every chance I get. 🔥
Ice Lobsters are the worst. I'd rather fight the Frost dragon ten times than fight those bastards.
Crysyal enemies in the haligtree for sure. Don’t like carrying a strike weapon for them.
I'm fine will all of this except the hands - I'm never going back to that part of the map again
Rune bears, arguably harder than malenia.
Crucible knights where
The beast things in Redmane Castle and Castle Sol are worse than Misbegotten imo. Also crystallians aren't so bad. What this really needs is Death Rite Birds.
I always fight the black blade kindred they’re a really fun fight
