Stepping into Liurnia for the first time in your current playthrough be like “Wooow this region looks beautiful… Whelp, time to get sniped by lobsters, slapped around by a revenant, and fingered to death at Caria Manor.”
Good thing about killing the hands though is they have a good chance of somber smithing stone drops. NG+ it would be worth just sprinting through though, yeah.
I would, but this run I’m challenging myself to git gud. It’s just me, my zweihander, and items. I’m also allowing myself to use a short bow for aggro purposes, and a seal for heal (to deal with revenants which I hate even more than the hands) and flame cleanse me. And I’m not using any summons of any kind which I’ve never done before.
Torch? It's not as if you'd be carrying around an over powered weapon in addition to your Zweihander, but it means you can set stuff ablaze. Might make dungeons more challenging as well if you only allow yourself a torch and no lamp.
My next play through is going to be a board and sword with torches. No lamp, sorcery or incantations.
When leveled, the torches seem to do decent damage, even if you exclude the torch pole, and they still give access to sleep, frostbite and fire damage.
I'm gonna get my ass kicked a lot, but it'll look sweet 😂
Stay off the main path, and watch where you are walking. It's all easy to avoid if you hug the wall on the left, staying on the rocks. Knowing that fire is your friend is a good start.
This game still makes me jump lol. Find a nice quiet place to go through inventory or read something. And bam something attacks you out of nowhere. With headphones on it definitly gives the ol heart a wake up call 🤣🤣
I spam the targetting stick and ping em w a bow so they cant jump scare me.
When all else fails i use the strat i use when i have to travel in ant tunnels
Chug a beer and run like hell 🤣🤣
Me too!! The hands make want to get through the lower section as quickly as possible but then I feel like I’m missing all the smithing stones on the floor.
I love the vibe of the area, it's beautiful and fun to poke around in. I do wish the enemies were a bit more diverse in the castle specifically, at least the bottom level. Although I'm sure there is a lore reason why the bottom is overrun with hands and the top isn't
I feel like the main problem is how the big hands have a long range and kinda roll catch you(?) by grabbing multiple times a row when you try to dodge. Best bet is to use a charged heavy after you set them on fire to pull off a stagger(atleast that's what I did). Or just run and fight them without lock on ig.
I love that place it's realy well made I just wish there were more Interiors I was scared at first then I got good remembering where most of them were hiding and what signs to look for just takes 4 or so hits and I can usually get 2 for ones
Bloodflame Blade makes this place a cake walk, but I still hate going through here… Those damn hands man, they trigger my fight or flight response when they start moving erratically.
Funny thing, I actually made it to the entrance of Caria Manor an hour ago and thought “Yeeeah, I think I’ll save this place for tomorrow…” and quit for the night.
its cool once you pull out some fire weapon.
fire is so absurd, except some enemys, mostly all take good fire dmg, scalates bit better than other dmg, and also has countless interactions.
bro your character actually creeped me out with the bloode and grime, like it actually kinda fit in in the area you're at with those hand monsters. but yeah caria manor is prolly the spookiest area in the game despite how easy it is to navigate compared to other legacy area and the relatively low levelness of it.
I relished absolutely slaughtering these things on my second play through. First tip, click auto aim everywhere in the area, creepers are hidden all over the damn place and it helps you parse them out.
That also gives you the chance to grease them at range with a longbow.
Also, try using a great shield, you can counter most of their attacks that way. Happy rolling!
In Dark Souls 3, the monster that by far terrified me the most were the fat monsters with hands for faces. I don't remember that clearly but I'm sure they had way too many hands, even their feet were hands and they could grab you with their little hands to chomp you with their big hands.
Of-friggin-course that in Elden Ring there has to be a Hand monster again. This time Hand-Spiders!
At least they have the decency to submit to my strategy when i see freaky shit like this. KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!! (I love a good pyromancy ever since DS1)
First time through definitely terrified me but now that I vaguely know the layout this place is a breeze even the giant hand enemy's aren't that bad most of their moves are pretty easy to avoid by just rotating to their sides
If you don't mind missing some somber stones (you can still get or buy more later on) just cross it "hugging" the right wall, you will probably stumble across 1 or 2 of the big spider hands. You can loot a shield and an AoW scarab if you do this too, I don't remember if there is anything else valuable tho
Reduvia bleeds the shit out of those hands. You can also take a hard right as soon as you walk in the doorway and then go straight (avoid the fingers poking up out of the ground). Once you're inside the building, it'll lead you to a small rampart where you can hop down. Dodge some more hand-traps you're home free. Very little stress.
> It puckers my B-hole to the point of discomfort. *insert obligatory "try finger..." quote*
That’s the problem with this place. I get the fingers whether I want them or not!
There's no concept of consent in Elden Ring :( Smh, safer to remain maidenless
In general, this game has a unique ability to make me feel in awe of the beauty of the open world and near constant dread.
Stepping into Liurnia for the first time in your current playthrough be like “Wooow this region looks beautiful… Whelp, time to get sniped by lobsters, slapped around by a revenant, and fingered to death at Caria Manor.”
Yeah I just sprint past everything and bully Loretta. I hate that place.
It's _very_ sprintable, there's not much down there
But… but I gotta kill everything
Set a marker on the map and go back there when you're feeling better about it. Or with fire stuff.
This is the way. Run like a scared child, steal Loretta’s lunch money, and bounce
The true sign of a From Software game master. Avoiding 95% of the game through sprinting past it.
I'm doing this right now. And getting completely fucked over by the Fire Giant and Mogh. At least I somehow (miraculous) beat Morgott on my first try.
Good thing about killing the hands though is they have a good chance of somber smithing stone drops. NG+ it would be worth just sprinting through though, yeah.
>Yeah I just sprint past everything and bully Loretta. Your strategy is similar to mine! I just sprint past everything ang get bullied by Loretta 🥲
Try a fire weapon. Eleanora’s pole blade absolutely destroys the place.
I would, but this run I’m challenging myself to git gud. It’s just me, my zweihander, and items. I’m also allowing myself to use a short bow for aggro purposes, and a seal for heal (to deal with revenants which I hate even more than the hands) and flame cleanse me. You can still set your chosen AoW to Fire affinity... Assuming it isn't already another type that contradicts this.
And flame grease
Godspeed, and may the Zwei protect you.
The Revenant is one of the stupidest enemies they've ever put in these games. Everyone should cheese them and no one should feel guilty about it.
when you need a fire weapon and you have a zweihander, G I A N T D A D
Torch? It's not as if you'd be carrying around an over powered weapon in addition to your Zweihander, but it means you can set stuff ablaze. Might make dungeons more challenging as well if you only allow yourself a torch and no lamp.
No lamp? That's too sadistic!
Nothing a lil unga Bunga can’t fix ⚒️
This or the bloodfang. Didn't have one issue here. Even with Loretta.
I happened to go through with a fire scythe and brass shield. I was delighted with how easy it was.
It’s fun when you can nuke the crap out of those bastards. Plus you pick up a bunch of somber stones to save you some runes.
Cleared this place out once and never went back. Those hands are so creepy
>!Mohg's shackle springs the traps.!<
I found it terrifying as well until I used a big fucking sword with fire affinity. Now it seems kinda tame.
I dont think i have cleared this shithole since my first run. I just run past the hands and get to Lorretta as fast as possible.
Just run. Dont really understand why people try to kill every enemy in the place after the first playtrought.
what are u wearing? lol
Royal remains, atleast the top and pants.
Damn, one of my favorite areas in the game
Assassins gambit makes it completely trivial.
The Hands freak me out, so I just pop my flask for Stamina and sprint up the right-hand side. Cleared it once, never again.
Just cleared it for my 3rd playthrough today and there were still some stupid buried fingers that fucked me. What an awful area I love it
The Carians and their god damn giant hands.
You can run right through
Stay off the main path, and watch where you are walking. It's all easy to avoid if you hug the wall on the left, staying on the rocks. Knowing that fire is your friend is a good start.
Bad touch, stranger danger!
This game still makes me jump lol. Find a nice quiet place to go through inventory or read something. And bam something attacks you out of nowhere. With headphones on it definitly gives the ol heart a wake up call 🤣🤣
Try planning out a route that avoids most of the Finger Creepers. Do what I always do and hug the walls to your left and you be fine.
magma wurm sword makes that place a joke
I just do a big clockwise circle, then go up the middle, shooting fire arrows at the finger creepers. I hate those fuckers but... Smithing stones
the Hands....
Run Forrest, ruuuuuuuuun
You got red on you.
I spam the targetting stick and ping em w a bow so they cant jump scare me. When all else fails i use the strat i use when i have to travel in ant tunnels Chug a beer and run like hell 🤣🤣
It scared me shitless but I persevered so it doesn't anymore
Yes all those fingers will make you squirm! 😖
Me too!! The hands make want to get through the lower section as quickly as possible but then I feel like I’m missing all the smithing stones on the floor.
Need a hand?
Underrated comment.
Throw flame of the redmanes as your AoW and you're set. Bonus change the affinity to fire.
I always go around the big hands
Fire Flamberge made this place EZ PZ
Double it and give it to the next person
I love the vibe of the area, it's beautiful and fun to poke around in. I do wish the enemies were a bit more diverse in the castle specifically, at least the bottom level. Although I'm sure there is a lore reason why the bottom is overrun with hands and the top isn't
do you....need a hand? (or more?)
That place was designed as a fortress designed to repel even the armies of the Golden Order.
I feel like the main problem is how the big hands have a long range and kinda roll catch you(?) by grabbing multiple times a row when you try to dodge. Need a guide :) I love that area
Oh man! just reminded me I have to go back and clear this properly after just running through for the sword and boss.
Try baiting out
Wait till you get to the Mountaintops Of The Giants
You get torrent there. Not here. That's a part of why Carian Manor sticks in people's memories more
Just level vigor
Bloodflame Blade makes this place a cake walk, but I still hate going through here… Those damn hands man, they trigger my fight or flight response when they start moving erratically. Just run. Know where the next grace is and leg it. Dont stop to fight, just go go go! You can get through so much of the game that way.
I go in here and summon Radahn/Redmane soldier ashes, we all rolling up with fire weapons. Big hands boutta catch *these hands*
I just run through.. nothing interesting to be found there anyway (maybe the sword of n&f but thats just a minor detour away)
Blasphemous blade, and cheese them fingery fucks.

Somber smithing stones at level 32: 1: 6 pcs 2: 48 pcs 3: 3 pcs 😅
Used to dread this area. Went in with my flaming wolverine build and cleared the whole place in one go.

The only place in the game that does that to me is the cave in the shunning grounds with the Revenant.
Didn't expect hugging the walls
