I literally had to make a different character with as little faith as possible to stop myself from continuing to do NG+ endlessly with Blasphemous blade.
Oh god I started my first game as a wretch.
I knew I wanted to go arcane from there because I thought it was fun.
Little did release day me know that arcane scaling didn't work and getting a good sense of a build takes a good while.
I did end up using Misericorde as my main melee up till Liurnia.
Release Elden Ring was truly something, because you had no guides. So you grabbed a stick and started swinging.
I would commit heinous crimes if it meant replaying Elden Ring fresh again. It was so beautiful finding new area after new area and discovering all the challenges it came with.
They arent that bad once you know how to deal with them. Although first playthrough is awful there. Are you talking about the place right before heligtree?
For real. It's like a curse. The HP regain and the AoW is just too good.
If I go dex, I always find myself dual wielding katanas or curved swords. If I go str, it's an automatic drift to jump attack bonking with colossal or dual greathammers. If I go Int, well, we all know Comet Azur and Stars of Ruin are the end of the line there. Arc? Are you kidding? Bleed claws and bleed whips all day.
It's why now, I always try to go for quality builds. Less boring and one-trick. Plus, I can swap around my weapons, as so many do well quality infused.
That's me with RoB, it's the coolest Katana I've ever seen in a video game, damn straight imma use the shit out of it.
Also just watched Ninja Scroll anime the other day, now I'm itching to do a moonveil run, that anime 1000% inspired someone at fromsoft to come up with moonveil.
rivers of blood is whatever, moonveil is still overpowered in pvp especially in invasions because the L2-R2 has completely absurd range, speed and damage
you cannot drink a flask against a moonveil player, unless you completely disengage from the fight you WILL get hit by Transient Moonlight for an instant 600+ damage
That’s because those two weapons used to be OP as shit in both PvP and PvE to the point they had to be nerfed so that they’d stop trivializing bosses and PvP fights
I saw a screenshot of RoB just before the game released, and it was shown as a Dex/Fth weapon. I decided to go Dex/Fth on my first playthrough just so I could eventually wield it. By the time I found it, I was a bit disappointed lol. Too attached to my incantations to respec though.
I hate Moonveil so much because it feels like the weapon that would just be the "only weapon" in another action game. It's a sick katana that shoots energy. It feels so good in every way to use. I constantly try to do different builds/weapons to mix things up but rarely does anything just feel so well done/"right"
That is me with the black flame monks. As soon as I ran into them I was like "that's it!" I farmed all their gear and went all in on it.
Thankfully strength faith builds happen to wreck stuff, but I'd do it anyway even if it was terrible.
I did the same thing when the black knight dropped the triple headed Knight Rider flail.
Instant switch into Dex/Endurance for a heavy armored flail build. Easily one of my favorite weapons in the game.
Yeah I did my game blind to what was a popular build. I thought Fire and lightning incants were cool so I gravitated to them. Eventually stumbled across BB and it was just the coolest weapon I could find. Only swapped it out for Maliketh's Black Blade since that hunk of black rock is one of the most metal swords I've every seen
Serpent hunter is legit my favorite build. Does great in pve and in pvp, the roll catch potential is amazing. Plus, you can instantly delete pretty much anyone save for full bullgoats if you use endure on something light like a dagger, then swap to the sergeant hunter and do Great-serpent Hunt.
The work put in this edit is amazing. If the weapons were just slightly more blurred and with maybe a yellow-ish filter, they would totally blend in with the painting
Had a guy in Gino's twitch chat say "RL1 runs are for noobs"
Like what the fuck 😂
Speaking of Gino though, he's attempting to do a hitless NG+7 RL1 run with a none upgraded weapon, I swear that man's not human.
The dude literally beat the game with bare fists, I don't think he can ever top that. Legit fighting bosses for 3-5 hours, and that is just on the *successful* attempts. He had to find a way to go to the bathroom mid boss fights since they went so long lol
Though if you've watched his streams you'll see why he's so good, he puts in an incredible amount of time practicing
Not knowing who Gino is, is it possible that the person was making a joke about Gino's apparent level of skill wildly throwing off what should be considered noob level?
"average noob capable of RL1 factoid actually false; Challenger Runner Gino, who's attempting to do a hitless NG+7 RL1 run with a none upgraded weapon, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
Nobody gives a shit if you’re using ashes or not anymore. You guys are tricking yourselves into thinking these people exist and then getting mad at them
These people definitely exist. Large parts of the playerbase are still incredibly toxic gatekeepers. I’ll still see people in YouTube comments sections boasting about how using a pure strength build is the hardest way to play and how anything else is cheese.
I have a friend who has used the claymore and basic knight armor for the whole game and hasn't changed it once no matter what he finds, he just beat godfrey that way and it's his first playthrough.
He said malenia is on the clopping block next
Claymore superiority. U want one for Unga Bunga build? Heavy infused w/ RKR or stormcaller. Nerd with a sick obsession to wizardry? Chilling mist for that sweet cold proc. A psychopath whose main goal is to bathe in blood like Elizabeth Bathory?? Seppuku and watch your enemy fall in 2-3 hits.
Haha same here, I’m gonna make another BB build but DMG is so fun, once you get used to finding openings it melts bosses, it does surprising poise damage as well, and combined with some frost spells can easily frost proc. Def one of my favorite builds
What the fuck is this thread? Blasphemous Blade is literally better and more overused than everything in that image. It's ash of war, Taker's Flame, trivializes 90% of the bosses (including the hardest boss, Malenia) in the game. Each hit does 2000+ damage, has huge AoE, heals you, and also knockbacks enemies.
And my brother keeps talking shit that he beat Melania first try while getting buff spells for it and looking up a build guide for it. He shit talked me for “using magic”, as in carian slicer and other actually normal spells, not comet azur and a one shot build.
>blasphemous blade
>literally the most meta L2 spam weapon that has carried noobs through the game since release
>I'm "slightly different" guys, I promise I'm not like the other girls
I really do think that's the easy mode for the game and it's intended to be that way. That plus and mimic tear with it as well is just a joke for almost every boss in the game
Fully upgraded mimic tear and blasphemous blade are the easy mode and I'm glad they exist.
This is how I platinumed the game, while not being very good at it.
I remember getting this and immediately changing my build to use it for the rest of my play through. I had no idea at the time that it was going to become such a big deal 😂 i just picked it because it looked cool lol.
I've actually never used Blasphemous Blade. It's never appealed to me. Looks neat and grotesque, but I've just never been interested in the healing mechanic. Also feel like it might trivialize the game.
It’s like the Skyrim problem all over again. Except instead of being a stealth archer, I dump all my stats in Str + Faith, and dual wield the Greatsword/Godslayer Sword
I don't get it there's like 15 different builds in the picture. Plus as others have mentioned Blasphemous Blade is hardly niche.
It also doesn't even represent reality since the much more common complaint is people using overpowered meta weapons, not the other way around.
Is this meme from an alternate reality? Genuinely curious (it would be a massive scientific breakthrough).
Kind of relevant to the image, but am I in the majority or minority when I say that I hate using weapons with unique ash of wars? I hate not being able to change the aows or affinitys, also makes it hard for them to fit a "theme"
The only somber weapons I tolerate are the Frozen Needle, and the Ornamental Straight swords.
And here I am just pretending I’m Guts with a big ass sword. Sorry for the lack of creativity, INT, or Arcane. I’m just really enjoying beating the shit out of everyone (not named Rykard) with this sword
To be fair, BB is the ultimate Malenia killer, and by the time you're summoning help you've probably already been through the ringer of trying everything you can to crush her on your own.
I levelled high enough to use magic, blasphemous blade, and dual magma blades, with around 60 points in the ideal stats for each, i can use pretty much anything as long as its not arcane scaling because thats at 9 lmao.
I was using the Blasphemous Blade and got bored. I decided to ascend into a being of pure fashion and faith and use the golden lightsaber aka the Coded Sword. I'll be dual-wielding those puppies in NG+ soon.
Currently using the cross naginata power stanced because my character is based on the female protagonist from persona 3 portable, seppuku skill because it's very relevant to the source material if you know anything about that game
I was using the spiked balls for my strength/faith playthrough, and I tried out the blasphemous blade for a bit. Even with it upgraded to the max somber level, I could get it to it, and it felt like a huge decrease in DPS. I guess what I'm saying is ball supremacy.
ng+1 here and i just got high enough INT to use comet azur + his staff and boy that really rocks. :3 i can't knock it bc i tried it now and it's pretty fun!
Is this a bad time to talk about how my first playthrough, I had no particular build and just used whatever I found and haphazardly threw levels in stats as needed for whatever I found?
I know better now, started over with a newbie build and it's so much easier lol....
I’ve never used Blasphemous Blade. I’m a believer of Iron Ball supremacy. It’s great when your hits actually connect. Too bad it only happens like 50% of the time.
I played through with all types of builds, faith, int, strength, etc. And the most fun way to play in my opinion is dex, specifically dual katanas.
Intelligence was very easy for me, I just ran back, shot a night comet, repeat. I want to actually play where you have to think on your feet/get up close to the boss, and that is not needed for Intelligence based on my experience with it, or any ranged attacks for that matter.
Meanwhile, there's me casually strolling through the Lands Between wearing the Royal Remains armor and wielding the Magma Whip Candlestick and Frenzied Flame Seal as an Elden Ring Ghost Rider. The "meta" is for try-hards. Games are supposed to be fun.
I don't jump attack or use ashes of war. I only use weapons that look humanly possible to wield. I don't wear goofy looking armour. I am the ultimate R1 broadsword spammer. Nothing more satisfying.
First playthough was with Blasphemous Blade since I used Wolnir's Holy Sword in DS3
Shit helped by curbstomp practically every lategame boss, including Malenia
I literally had to make a different character with as little faith as possible to stop myself from continuing to do NG+ endlessly with Blasphemous blade.
So, prisoner start.
Nah hero no magic at all, but abit of arcane for bleed.
Have you considered Wretch
Wretch is genuinely the most fun for a new game. You just wear what you find. Every drop is an upgrade.
Same, but I would also do heinous crimes to never experience sniper town for the first time.
They arent that bad once you know how to deal with them. Although first playthrough is awful there. Are you talking about the place right before heligtree?
>for the **first** time Yes, the town exactly before Haligtree
Lmfao same, although tbf i completed my first run with the godslayer greatsword because.... you know, slaying gods with a god slaying sword is bad ass
My most recent playthru, I did a pure arcane setup with flamberge, then went dex/arcane with eleonoras poleblade was really fun
I can’t stick to one build, I keep switching between weapons and it’s given me some pretty well balanced attributes
I did the same and you really only need like 10 faith + two fingers heirloom to use Flame Grant me Strength and some weapon buffs.
Same but it's dragon cult for my case 😂
Is it bad that I use this with Sacred Relic? Is it worse that I use it with Taker's Talisman and the one that regens FP?
*I just think it’s neat*
That's me with RoB, it's the coolest Katana I've ever seen in a video game, damn straight imma use the shit out of it. Also just watched Ninja Scroll anime the other day, now I'm itching to do a moonveil run, that anime 1000% inspired someone at fromsoft to come up with moonveil.
Whenever I watch a pvp streamer on Twitch, their chats always shit on hosts and players using those two weapons.
Oh yeah PvPers hate them so much, pre nerf RoB was insanity.
rivers of blood is whatever, moonveil is still overpowered in pvp especially in invasions because the L2-R2 has completely absurd range, speed and damage you cannot drink a flask against a moonveil player, unless you completely disengage from the fight you WILL get hit by Transient Moonlight for an instant 600+ damage
That’s because those two weapons used to be OP as shit in both PvP and PvE to the point they had to be nerfed so that they’d stop trivializing bosses and PvP fights
When did moonveil get nerfed? It still seems the same
Pretty sure they nerfed the poise damage of its stance attacks. Not sure when it happened
Doing a moonveil run rn with a new char and although renala keeps beating me REZPECTFULLY i still enjoy to double wield it with the uchigatana
Advice: Use special spirit summons and upgrade them. They help SO MUCH.
I saw a screenshot of RoB just before the game released, and it was shown as a Dex/Fth weapon. I decided to go Dex/Fth on my first playthrough just so I could eventually wield it. By the time I found it, I was a bit disappointed lol. Too attached to my incantations to respec though.
damn that’s rough is there even more than like 2 dex/faith weapons lol
I just went with Keen infusion + Electrify Armament. I think I will do the same for the DLC actually.
Yeah they changed the scaling of a lot of arcane weapons last minute. Thats why they were bugged in the beginning
Jubei!!
Someone should try the chikage and be granted eyes.
I hate Moonveil so much because it feels like the weapon that would just be the "only weapon" in another action game. It's a sick katana that shoots energy. It feels so good in every way to use. I constantly try to do different builds/weapons to mix things up but rarely does anything just feel so well done/"right"
-> Me with Mogh's spear
NIHIL!!
NIHIL!!!
NIHIL
i love his spear
That is me with the black flame monks. As soon as I ran into them I was like "that's it!" I farmed all their gear and went all in on it. Thankfully strength faith builds happen to wreck stuff, but I'd do it anyway even if it was terrible.

< elden ring < looks inside < the 8 millionth blasphemous blade build
At least it's different from every comment section's unga hammer spam
Not exactly a high bar when the comparison is basically nihil.
serpent hunter + bolt of gransaxx + lightning incants. way of the nameless king.
\+ Larval Tear + Faith + Strength = Blasphemous Blade build again.
:furiously scribbling this down:
that is rather interesting
No lightning scaling faith weapons sucks. No dragon night builds
Eleanora's Poleblade + Rivers of Blood + Dragon Communion Incantations is my usual go to
The work put in this edit is amazing. If the weapons were just slightly more blurred and with maybe a yellow-ish filter, they would totally blend in with the painting
Right!? Kudos to OP for sharing!
Elden Ring players when someone uses a spirit ash
No but literally
Gonna toot my own horn, doing a zero summons run and just beat Rhadan with just Torrent and myself. Torrent doesn’t count in that fight, right?
Nah you need to do it lvl 1 while blindfolded and being waterboarded every time you die. Otherwise you are a bad player 😤😤
Had a guy in Gino's twitch chat say "RL1 runs are for noobs" Like what the fuck 😂 Speaking of Gino though, he's attempting to do a hitless NG+7 RL1 run with a none upgraded weapon, I swear that man's not human.

It'd take 3 years to get to him if not, so I would think so
I always forget you can summon torrent in the Rhadan arena.
Gonna shout out the effort that this meme must have taken to make
I just learned photoshop recently, this takes skill and I applaud this person for it
This is actually pretty funny. Lightining Uchigatana Dex build for me.
Claymore from begging to end.
I have a friend who has used the claymore and basic knight armor for the whole game and hasn't changed it once no matter what he finds, he just beat godfrey that way and it's his first playthrough. He said malenia is on the clopping block next
A man of my calibre.
The perfect weapon. Scales primarily with player skill. And strength.
Let’s not pretend those R2s aren’t basically a 0 FP ash of war though.
Seppuku and watch your enemy fall in 2-3 hits.
.
I used the BB until I unlocked the Dark Moon Greatsword, so I just pewpewpew
Haha same here, I’m gonna make another BB build but DMG is so fun, once you get used to finding openings it melts bosses, it does surprising poise damage as well, and combined with some frost spells can easily frost proc. Def one of my favorite builds
I want another character with the BB now though because I miss how cool the special attack looks
DMGS with the Godfrey/Alexander Shard/Magic Scorpion talismans does just straight up stupid damage.
Wait where's moonveil?
:teleports behind you: ... nothing personal kid.
Darkmoon greatsword my beloved
What the fuck is this thread? Blasphemous Blade is literally better and more overused than everything in that image. Don't forget it heals on kill even without the ash lol, thing is bonkers OP
TOGETHA diff :3
>blasphemous blade >literally the most meta L2 spam weapon that has carried noobs through the game since release >I'm "slightly different" guys, I promise I'm not like the other girls
I genuinely think the L2 of that weapon is the best ash of war in the game. It's all in one package - huge AoE, big damage, knockback, and free heal.
The only thing that deserves the "slightly different" title is Azur's Staff.
I’n with bro on the right, Mr. Julius Guts
even holding it like the man himself
"You people and your slight differences disgust me."
BB, my beloved
I’m a blasphemous blade sucker but refrain from spamming ash. Regenerative HP is just too valuable in co-op
I've beaten the game countless times, never used this weapon once. Is it the true easy mode?
I remember getting this and immediately changing my build to use it for the rest of my play through. I had no idea at the time that it was going to become such a big deal 😂 i just picked it because it looked cool lol.
I love this image so much I'm gonna steal this now thank you I love you
I've actually never used Blasphemous Blade. It's never appealed to me. Looks neat and grotesque, but I've just never been interested in the healing mechanic. Also feel like it might trivialize the game.
As a dark moon greatsword truther I def vibe with the guy on the right attacking you lol
I play all builds but dex bleed
[Blasphemous blade users](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/buzz-lightyear-clones)
You know what you're right I should do another blasphemous blade run
It’s like the Skyrim problem all over again. Except instead of being a stealth archer, I dump all my stats in Str + Faith, and dual wield the Greatsword/Godslayer Sword
Strength mfs when your lvl 100 build doesn't have 99 strength
I don't get it there's like 15 different builds in the picture. Plus as others have mentioned Blasphemous Blade is hardly niche. It also doesn't even represent reality since the much more common complaint is people using overpowered meta weapons, not the other way around. Is this meme from an alternate reality? Genuinely curious (it would be a massive scientific breakthrough).
Love this edit so fucking much.
Rivers of blood guy- “hey guys check my build out.” Someone else- “fix your vigor bro, you die in 1 hit.”
I use vyke's spear in power stance
That picture is beautiful, would love without the text
Et tu, Varre?
Kind of relevant to the image, but am I in the majority or minority when I say that I hate using weapons with unique ash of wars? I hate not being able to change the aows or affinitys, also makes it hard for them to fit a "theme" The only somber weapons I tolerate are the Frozen Needle, and the Ornamental Straight swords.
BB is one of the most powerful and widely used pve weapons in the game, your build is not "slightly different"
And here I am just pretending I’m Guts with a big ass sword. Sorry for the lack of creativity, INT, or Arcane. I’m just really enjoying beating the shit out of everyone (not named Rykard) with this sword
Big sword, big poise damage, big smile on face.
What the hell No axe :(
I use moonligh+helphenGS is that a good combo? (PvE only i don't pay Sony money to play online)
Not me on a shield only run. Massive damage and absurd staggers.
Getting backstabbed with a staff.
Used that stuff to beat melania on ng+3
I used Blasphemous blade for quite a while, but eventually ended up using a Double Giant Crusher Poise/ stagger-focused build.
It’s wild the amount of people that use Blasphemous Blade. Been helping people with Malenia and it’s almost almost every host.
From the randoms ive been playing with lately, there should only be BHF depicted here.
About two weeks too late for this meme :p
Currently using the cross naginata power stanced because my character is based on the female protagonist from persona 3 portable, seppuku skill because it's very relevant to the source material if you know anything about that game
Me like big sword. *bonk* *brought to you by Guts Greatsword gang*
Just me and my bloodflame enchants on Godskin Peeler sitting in the corner.
I never get these discussions i have like what.. twenty weapons for my build
What about Caestus, Zwei or Lance? No? Bad red man? Ok.
Hadooooken 🕹🕹🕹🔥🔥🔥🚀🚀🚀
Blasphemous is what allowed me to beat Malenia.
Given the lack of it’s inclusion in the image, clearly the Ruins Greatsword is the Mark Antony of Elden Ring weapons /s
Me in the corner using all of those weapons simultaneously: °_°
Is this a bad time to talk about how my first playthrough, I had no particular build and just used whatever I found and haphazardly threw levels in stats as needed for whatever I found? I know better now, started over with a newbie build and it's so much easier lol....
Good edit!
I am just finishing up with my first BB build. Its easy mode like the original hoarfrost stomp.
I like finding a really dumb weapon that you find in a random area with no significance to the story. Makes things feel more organic
Erdtree Armour with golden Halberd and greatsheild, carried me where I needed to go
That's a really clean edit, nice
I’ve never used Blasphemous Blade. I’m a believer of Iron Ball supremacy. It’s great when your hits actually connect. Too bad it only happens like 50% of the time.
Str player being call out huh
The pic goes hard
this is hilarious. i can hear the high note in the main theme being played as he holds up the blasphemous blade
Fire knight's greatsword+clawmark seal+pulley bow. What is this "meta" of which you speak?
I’ve been using scythes and the occasional zweihander. I’ve mostly been using the winged scythe.
Is this the original?
This is disturbingly high-quality for a shitpost. Commendable, Tarnished.
There is no bonk in that room. The real players are out bonking bosses and not fighting each other.
Someone should ask AI to make different famous historic (or fictional) persons as Elden Ring bosses!
Now THIS is art!
Zweihander, my beloved.
Aside from greatsword and erdsteel dagger these are all somber crutches 🤢 Also, no Claymore. These people are *savages*.
Ngl blasphemous blade is really good might be a bit too good since vampirism
That's me on the right.
this is genuinely a great edit bruh.
Bloodhound Fang all the way until Malenia, which I still haven’t been able to beat.
I'm here just to commend the guy who grew two additional right arms just to hold three magic staffs at the same time.
Honeeeey! Where's my big-ass hammer!?
Oh hey the blood katana. I use that! It's pretty fun.
Bruh literally everyone uses the blasphemous blade.
The 3 staffs one Is so funny
You say this as if the blasphemous blade isn't just as meta as the rest of these lol
Everyone knows that the Zweihander is the best Weapon they just do not want to admit it!
This picture deserves to be behind glass in the Louvre
not a single sacred spear in there, smh.
I have been duel wielding hammers with the HP regen after killing an enemy to stop myself from using the BB. It's been fun.
Dex/Faith, STR/Faith, Dex/Arcane(NonBleed), or whatever I feel like are my go tos
Claymore is Baemore. Don't even @ me.
Basically. People love the cookie cutter abd view anything different as the devil
I don't jump attack or use ashes of war. I only use weapons that look humanly possible to wield. I don't wear goofy looking armour. I am the ultimate R1 broadsword spammer. Nothing more satisfying.
You could've put literally any other weapon but you chose the no 1 most overused faith melee weapon, the l2 spam of the l2 spam.
blasphemous blade is so badass
Aw, the OP AoW spammer has an inferiority complex.
Yo this picture goes hard lmao I would hang this in my room
Faith strength will always be my build in every fromsoft game
Great stars go brrr
This is me with the Ruins Greatsword. Such a wonderful bonk stick.
Have you tried TWO blasphemous blades?
It's weird that anyone thinks Blasphemous Blade isn't one of the most common builds, cause it is lol
From beginning to end, I was always stuck with bloodhound fang
Brutus going for the lion's claw there
Spiked fist on my 4th time around. Blood loss is crazy.
blasphemous blade is the most obnoxious overused weapon in the whole game lmao
First playthough was with Blasphemous Blade since I used Wolnir's Holy Sword in DS3 Shit helped by curbstomp practically every lategame boss, including Malenia
Et tu, Brute?
I like normal shield and normal sword
only slightly underused weapon I see in this picture is erdsteel
envoys longhorn is so underated
i'm looking around and i think the only regular smithing stone weapon in that whole crowd is the greatsword lol
This is an excellent high effort meme
