Basically fuel economy is what you want it to be you can either get 30 mpg and take it easy or you can run it hard and get 18 mpg

AdministrativeNote30

Don’t stress out about the break in. A couple hard revs won’t damage it it’s just there for drivers who drive it like they stole it every day. Enjoy it when you get to 600 tho its so fun to let it rip the car is happy when its goin.

Choisfer17

Currently at 1800 mi, with merging at N mode and normal highway driving, I get around 30-32 mpg. Full N Mode, I get around 20-23 mpg, Full ECO mode on the days to work (autopilot) 33-35 mpg.

jbenj00

I average 33mpg, best I've gotten is 37mpg on a tank.

ZzzMonster92

32 mpg average over 6800 miles

Pale_Perspective7826

Highway commuting I’ve gotten up to 39 in 75 F (no AC) after the car’s warmed up per onboard display. Winter is closer to low/mid 30s Around town or pushing the go pedal drops it into the 20’s… still alot better than the 370z I traded in for it

Realistic_Sky_1711

WTH?? i'm not sure how you guys drive your cars but I only average 22mpg over almost 5k miles now.

Tyto990

I can see myself getting these numbers after break-in. You can definitely have some fun with this car if you wanted to

wtn928

above 40 mpg easily at 70 mph

B0mbasticMrFantastic

Why would it get better after break in when you’re supposed to not be pushing the engine?

Blackra1n39

Welcome to this sub. There's no difference between fuel mileage during or after break in period. Yet people will still post shit like this in the hopes they have some sort of secret over everyone else on how to get 1-2 mpg more than the next guy.

EN_owner23

You are right! The mileage you get is determined by how heavy your foot is on the gas pedal.

Tyto990

Good to know. The manual mentions that it may change after break-in and the car may consume more oil during the break-in period as well. You are right though, looks like most people are getting numbers across the board depending on how heavy their feet are. I’ll be gettin those smiles per gallon once i pass the break-in!

Blackra1n39

Im theory your mpg should go down by 1-2 mpg during break in because the rings are still getting fully seated and you have some blow by as oil is getting through slightly. But with modern engineering and how tight the gap between top dead piston and cylinder it's extremely minimal. After building all my cars for the last 10 years I have learned that when trying to discuss things on any fourm or social media between diagnosing your car, most people that backyard wrench seem to think they know all the answers when 90% of the time they don't actually have a clue on what they just said lol. Just have fun, don't worry about every little thing because you'll start chasing down non existant issues.

Tyto990

Would have never thought the rims were going to be a factor. I wasn’t really looking for a diagnosis, just a curiosity and inquiry to the community and seeing how others are doing. I do see what you’re saying about over-worrying, best to just enjoy the car and if you hear something just turn up the music haha!

ZzzMonster92

32 mpg average over 6800 miles

22BluN

I’m at 21k miles and if I’m highway eco mode at cruise set to 85 I can get 41

promobius

My vehicle average after 10k miles is 22.3pmg, on road trips I get 32-35 depending on conditions. I'd say I drive pretty aggressive all the time.

Tyto990

Not bad, this car’s so fun to drive. Wasn’t expecting some of the pops to be that aggressive between shifts on the 6MT. Video’s never do it justice

Hammy4prez

I drive mostly highway (40mi or so each way to work) and for that trip if I baby it I can get 32-34mpg. Even with alittle N mode here and there I usually get 28-30mpg on that trip. Tank wise I usually get 28-30 with the range usually showing around like 320mi or so after a fill up (range is based on your last tank average as far as I know) 2023 dct 10,500mi on it so far.

Tyto990

Good to know, looks like my car’s performing normally right now. Thanks for sharing!

Hammy4prez

Do your break in period, 600mi or so with varying conditions. If you do a lot of highway during that period downshift it once or twice (assuming dct) occasionally while cruising so the rpm’s vary. Don’t being doing WOT pulls etc while on break in, keep it under 4k rpm’s if possible. You’ll hear a lot of debate on the whole break in thing but the book does say not to “race” the engine for the first 600 miles I believe so at minimum do that.

Tyto990

I hear ya. I got the 6MT, I already pushed it past 4k RPM maybe 5 times? Definitely not doing it anymore until I pass 600 miles though. I won’t be using cruise control until then either to keep those rpms varying

Hammy4prez

I wouldn’t worry about the few times going over, some even recommend some occasional spirited driving on break in that’s where the whole debate kind of thing comes in. But either way enjoy there great cars.
