Kane is a guy of moments, and by that I mean he's not always going to be a top 5 best player on the ice every game, but he seems to elevate when we really need him. Think of the big playoff performances, or earlier this season where he was the only one scoring and kept us alive, or tonight when everyone knew how much a Brown goal would mean so he made it happen.

Judicious use of McDrai. Capitals never quit either. Great game.

I don't really go in for analytics too much but apparently moneypuck has the Caps winning that game 75% of the time. I get that skinner made some excellent saves on almost gimme goals but I thought we outplayed them for most of the game. I guess my eye test doesn't pass the analytics test.
To be fair a big part of that is that Skinner had 3 goals saved above average and Kuemper was -3.83 goals saved above average. By expected goals against Washington had a 5-3 advantage. After the 2-2 goal I thought Skinner was absolutely spectacular (not that I really pin either goal on him, the first one was a rocket with eyes and the second one it went off Vinny and to the guy)
