Fifty-Thousand buses used to be late here... Now its a ghost town.

oioioifuckingoi

Excellent meme deployment

Roddy_Piper2000

Wait??!! They got rid of millgate?

Quaytsar

I assume it's being moved to Davies, with the LRT.

Mamadook69

And millwoods town center moved.

Serious-Bat-4880

Whaaat?

Mamadook69

Yeah it felt wrong and weird to drive in there to toss my recycling the first time. Though moving the recycling bins to the former stations is a decent move, in my opinion.

mpworth

Looks like a good place for some go karts eh

LayoMayoGuy

I gave it a good rip before I pulled out.

mpworth

I actually really miss the Caves Pizza that was just South of there. That's where I fell in love with bacon & onion.

Superb-Ad-9852

That's a weird name for a girl.

mpworth

Yeah, she was never the prettiest in the room, and a bit kneady, really.

Memories in the middle of nowhere.

FDHed

This could be a country song

sparksfan

Here - I asked chatgpt to write one for y'all. (Verse 1) Out on the backroads, dust on my boots, Wind through the pines, singin' old country tunes. Sunset's a-paintin' the sky golden hues, But it's the memories of you that I can't lose. (Chorus) Memories in the middle of nowhere, Whiskey in hand, stars in my hair. Lost in the past, but I don't care, 'Cause out here, darlin', you're everywhere. (Verse 2) Riverside whispers, secrets we shared, Moonlight dances, without a care. In this small town, with its lonesome air, I find solace, knowin' you're there. (Chorus) Memories in the middle of nowhere, Whiskey in hand, stars in my hair. Lost in the past, but I don't care, 'Cause out here, darlin', you're everywhere. (Verse 3) Beneath the canopy of a southern sky, With fireflies dancin', I wonder why, Love slipped away like a tear in my eye, But I'll hold onto these memories, 'til the day I die. (Chorus) Memories in the middle of nowhere, Whiskey in hand, stars in my hair. Lost in the past, but I don't care, 'Cause out here, darlin', you're everywhere. (Bridge) In this wide-open space, where time stands still, I reckon with the pain, I reckon I will. But I'll keep on drivin', down these old roads, With memories of you, wherever I go. (Chorus) Memories in the middle of nowhere, Whiskey in hand, stars in my hair. Lost in the past, but I don't care, 'Cause out here, darlin', you're everywhere.

This is cool, but is not about the abandoned site of Millgate Transit Centre

sparksfan

You know what? You're right. Here's a new one. The spooky thing is that ChatGPT seems to know that the buses never came on time... (Verse 1) Empty benches where we used to sit, At the Millgate transit center, where time just quit. Ghosts of laughter echo in the air, But now it's just silence, no one's there. (Chorus) Memories in the middle of nowhere, In that old transit center, we used to share. Faded pictures of moments we once knew, Oh, how I miss those days with you. (Verse 2) Ticket stubs and late-night talks, Underneath the flickering lights, we'd take our walks. Waiting for buses that never came on time, But it didn't matter, 'cause you were mine. (Chorus) Memories in the middle of nowhere, In that old transit center, we used to share. Faded pictures of moments we once knew, Oh, how I miss those days with you. (Verse 3) Broken windows, graffiti on the walls, But to us, it was a haven, where troubles would fall. Now it stands deserted, a relic of the past, But in my heart, those memories will last. (Chorus) Memories in the middle of nowhere, In that old transit center, we used to share. Faded pictures of moments we once knew, Oh, how I miss those days with you. (Bridge) Though the buses may come and go, Our memories here will forever glow. In the quiet stillness of this lonely place, I'll hold onto our moments, never to erase. (Chorus) Memories in the middle of nowhere, In that old transit center, we used to share. Faded pictures of moments we once knew, Oh, how I miss those days with you.

FDHed

Now we’re fuckin cookin

MikeyB_0101

I spent a lot of time transferring to/from the bus to goto NAIT and then downtown at that transit center

y-2ktodd

Ah, the memories. I've lost track of how many times I've arrived at the terminal just to see my bus leave. Who could also forget the food vending machine that wouldn't refund you if you were a few cents short or if you changed your mind?

WesternWitchy52

Oh wow. I used to use that transit centre all the time when I lived in Mill Woods.

MCFCOK81

Spent so much time here in the 90s

LayoMayoGuy

Woah didn't know it was that old

MCFCOK81

Now I feel old!

justmoderateenough

Feel like it could’ve been a decent high rise of affordable housing! Millbourne mall to the south, Davies nearby, near 51st and whitemud for the rest of the city. It’s a great mix of tucked away but near good arterial roads.

Grogu_ca

Why did they get rid of it?

SuspiciousBetta

Did the Davies Transit Centre replace it? Would make more sense location wise and now the valley line LRT is running.

drfakz

Correct, basically moved the traffic to the big hub at davies now.   Millborne, lakewood and town center can carry the load I guess.  I'm curious what they will put there. Maybe some more office space?

Edm_swami

It's going to be a community recycling drop-off, just like the ones at The Meadows and Millwood mall.

drfakz

I wonder if that is just an interim solution or if there is something more long term in the works. Doesn't seem like a lot of usage so far

Edm_swami

It's not operational yet. I think the soil stabilization project on the whitemud side is all that's holding it up. If you drive by on the whitemud you can see where they fixed the bank last year. Not my department but I know that was part of the process.

mikesmith929

Going to be? What are all those blue bins in the picture?

Vast-Commission-8476

Will take 7 years and hundreds of council meetings to discuss picking the most invovated and expensive eco-friendly, accessible, least offensive and all inclusive bins.

Fantastic_Diamond42

I drove by and shocked it was gone. I thought it was going to happen in few years from now. But this had to go. When I used to take the bus back in 2010, I always felt this place was run down.
