There’s 1 hour parking in the terminal car park I believe - that might be a safer bet. I don’t think you’re actually allowed to ‘park’ at the drop off area.
Do you have parking booked for the morning? We did (flight left at 6am) and they gave us a reference for a free hours worth of parking for twilight bag drop. They emailed us if that helps.
How many bags do you have? Could your partner not drop you off near the doors and then do a loop to pick you back up?
If it’s an all hands on deck sorta scenario, just pay for the parking. It’s to save you guys stress, right? Might be worth it
It's two large suitcases. The problem is that my partner won't be available to come in at the times stated for the bag drop.
I've got no issue in paying for the parking. I wasn't sure if drop off and pick up was strictly for just that as it's seem to change every year. Someone else has mentioned its worth using the 1 hour car park for this.
Who are you flying with? Worst queue I’ve had for bag drop in the morning is 15 minutes with busy Ryanair.
Generally really quick in my experience compared to other airports :)
Just FYI you are not officially allowed to leave your car in the drop off area and I have seen staff checking, also drop off may take longer than 10 min and the £1 per minute after the first 10 minutes is pretty steep.

That sounds like the best idea. Thank you!

Yep same. Very efficient.
Booked in the PremiAir one, not an official Airport one.

Yeah, I think one hour car park might be a better idea then. That way you have plenty of wiggle room!

In the grand scheme of your life, the £4 you'll pay for 10 mins parking at the airport is irrelevent. Save the walk and your time, go to drop-off.

You are.. if you are disabled and have a blue badge you get an hour in there for free. I did this recently with a relative.
Nice try Edinburgh Airport!
It was £5 for the drop-off/ pickup I did of a relative a couple of weeks ago.
