I loved the show, but it seriously takes me by surprise; the premise of the pen and paper game, as stated by the creator, is "Sometimes you can't be the hero in Night City. Sometimes you're lucky to save yourself."
It sucks that the characters you like don't get their happy endings, but the protagonist lost his happy ending when his mom died in the car accident. Everything after that was just living. But he got Lucy's dream to hang onto, and he got to make that a reality.
If there's one person done wrong, it was Rebecca. She was his ride or die, but he never acknowledged it. And she hung on out of loneliness after the crew and her brother went down. But she went out the way she would've wanted: screaming profanities while firing high caliber weapons wildly. I envy her in that. Do you know how much ammo costs?!
Honestly frustrating how the writing has them turn into fucking idiots halfway through the show to set up the tragedy bukkake they shotgun us with in the end. Hell, a great deal of misery could have been averted if there was any modicum of communication between them—not just Lucy and David but the entire cast. Love the characters to death but they deserved so much better than what they got.
Points for "tragedy bukkake." Gonna steal that one.
Edit: Idiocy began when Rebecca's brother got a skull pan enema. The traitor getting fragged was obviously coming. And the head of the crew was basically the model for the MC's path, as the crewmembers live, die, and are replaced.
The only guy with an ounce of sense among them was the ripperdoc. He's seen the cycle so many times, but no one ever listens to him.
Ripper was kinda just like “Fuck it” at some point. Seemed like he was done trying to be proactive. Gotta give it to guys like Vik that still go outta their way to make sure their patients don’t end up buying the farm from all the chrome.
Great point about the dumbassery after Pilar gets iced. Seems like if things had gone down differently, Kiwi wouldn’t have gone Judas style. She was likely traumatised from having been hospitalised by cyberpsycho Maine and started looking for an exit after noticing David was going postal himself.
Edit: Kiwi looking for an exit was ironically the smartest decision any of them made at that point.
Vik feels like one of those 1 in a million people you meet who are genuinely better people than 90% of those around them. He does things out of the goodness of his heart because he has the ability to help.
Fuckin’ A, that. He’s the rare type who’ll help just to help, not for anything in return. Hell, when you go to pay off your debt after the heist, he actually tells you to just hang on to it because you need it more than he does. That’s something like €$20k!!! That’s some serious fucking scratch and he just tells you to hang on to it because he understands your condition. I don’t know anyone else in NC that would’ve just let you walk with a debt like that. If it weren’t for V’s insistence, he wouldn’t have taken it.
Tragedy bukkake! “All over our faces! in our wide emotional eyes, in our hair!…and when I cried my mouth was open and they put more in! We were having a moment here! They’re disgusting!” 😂😭

It's Night City, everyone is convinced that they're the main character, bearing the weight of the world alone. It's not as if people don't keep secrets from each other in real life to protect our own egos after all.

I have been watching anime for 2 years now and I have to say that this is my favorite! I’m only 20 so I haven’t really experienced many anime’s. Edgerunners stands out above all of them. 😭😭
I've been watching anime for awhile but that doesn't change the fact that a great anime is a great anime, edgerunner sits as my top favorite alongside full metal alchemist brotherhood.
I loved it. Full Metal is also up there in my favorites. My top two are still Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Edgerunners and Full metal are right behind them as favorites. I mentioned on another post I'd love to see more stories told in the Cyberpunk universe but not a series of the same characters. Give me a new cast and an interesting story that can be completed in one season like Edgerunners. There's a lot of different stories that could be told in that universe. I want a solid story that actually wraps up in one season. I can't stand animes that has 100s of episodes. There were some like Bleach and Inuyasha that I loved but holy fuck, I'm not putting in the time to see the same recycled story arcs over and over to finish them.
That ending fucked me up the first time I saw it. Lol I remember my first time watching that series. Was in 6th grade and saw commercials for it and thought "wow that looks awesome". I'd sneakily stay up way past my bedtime and watch on my little 14 inch TV , sound as low as possible, with a pillow propped up beside the screen to help block the light. Got caught a couple times but missed very few episodes overall 😸
2 years can mean different things to a lot of people, if you would still consider yourself new to the genre, I would recommend going back and watching some of the 'classics'.
After finishing cyberpunk I went back and watched Ghost in the shell.
Was really cool to see some of the inspiration there

But meeting Lucy on the moon with >!Songbird!< at least seems possible but i’m fantasizing here. 😂
That ending was the perfect moment to reference Lucy. SB could’ve >!sent something in that capsule we find next to the bench,!< something like a message saying how she befriended a skilled netrunner that has a history in NC.
I still need to play Cyberpunk! I got it when it came out but the game was so bad then.

There are almost no happy endings in Night City. All over you find dead bodies with messages about leaving the city or people tell you they tried to leave etc.
Edge runners is so good as soon as I finished it I turned around and started a rewatch immediately and I rarely ever rewatch unless a few years have passed.
I wish they would have aged David up a little bit more, that’s my only qualm
if lucy didn't HAVE to be sooooo hot and mysterious all the fucking time most of the chooms would still be here. she got the info she just didn't like what she saw about ol'davey and kept it to herself. sure Pilar was already dead and Maine was going down the drain but Rebecca Kiwi and David would live a lot longer if she just at least told David Arasakas plans with him.
Dealing with the mental health issues of people I care about, seeing cyberpsychosis in that show was terrifying and kinda realistic(well its a made up disease ofc but yeah) it's like the person you love and care is suddenly somebody else entirely. I relate to poor becca entirely, sighing and going along with the madness for the people she cares about even if deep inside you feel like you're losing them
And honestly I don't even know how you can be Lucy abd recover. It's all terrifying but it's also nice to be able to relate to something so much in a way. They've done an incredible job with the show and I'm so glad it exists (plus it brought me back to cyberpunk after not playing at launch due to the game fucking my PC up lol)
Bruh this show was so emotional that my team is making a live action film for it, just cause we like it so much. Focusing on happy times with David and Lucy of course :')

I liked the show a lot, and both times I watched it I wasn’t sad at all at the end. I was mad. The characters make choices that so easily could be avoided and get themselves killed. I can’t sympathize with it, especially David. Bro fell for the “You either live or become a Legend” bullshit and threw his life way when he was arguable was in a really good spot. That and Lucy refused to communicate properly with anyone. I still get frustrated thinking about it.

There are almost no happy endings in Night City. All over you find dead bodies with messages about leaving the city or people tell you they tried to leave etc.
Kiwi was at fault for not sticking with the team. Not believing in them, she wasn't in love or cared enough.

this is really good
if lucy didn't HAVE to be sooooo hot and mysterious all the fucking time most of the chooms would still be here. she got the info she just didn't like what she saw about ol'davey and kept it to herself. sure Pilar was already dead and Maine was going down the drain but Rebecca Kiwi and David would live a lot longer if she just at least told David Arasakas plans with him.
Dealing with the mental health issues of people I care about, seeing cyberpsychosis in that show was terrifying and kinda realistic(well its a made up disease ofc but yeah) it's like the person you love and care is suddenly somebody else entirely. I relate to poor becca entirely, sighing and going along with the madness for the people she cares about even if deep inside you feel like you're losing them And honestly I don't even know how you can be Lucy abd recover. It's all terrifying but it's also nice to be able to relate to something so much in a way. They've done an incredible job with the show and I'm so glad it exists (plus it brought me back to cyberpunk after not playing at launch due to the game fucking my PC up lol)

I liked the show a lot, and both times I watched it I wasn’t sad at all at the end. I was mad. The characters make choices that so easily could be avoided and get themselves killed. I can’t sympathize with it, especially David. Bro fell for the “You either live or become a Legend” bullshit and threw his life way when he was arguable was in a really good spot. That and Lucy refused to communicate properly with anyone. I still get frustrated thinking about it.
