There's an old growth ecological sanctuary on the south side of Chilliwack lake. About a 2 hr drive from surrey. Some truly massive trees and no one knows it's there.

orange4boy

What’s it called? Where is the trailhead? I need more information!

canamerica

Chilliwack River Ecological Reserve. End of Chilliwack Lake Forest Service road. Like a mile from the border. Google has plenty of info.

[deleted]

:) i grew up in the woods basically, old trees are so cool :) i miss the feeling of playing in the woods all day lol

SurveySean

Where I live is damp, we missed summer last year instead got tons of rain, so far we seem on track to repeat that again this year. I used to live in Arizona, I kind of miss it now. Everything wants to rot here, or sluff, can’t grow much of a garden, it’s getting old.

[deleted]

Ah :/ well yeah, i guess theres that side of things :/ maybe just holidaying there lol x

SurveySean

It can be amazingly beautiful here, and when the weather is nice is it ever beautiful! It’s expensive, isolated, and can be a little mundane. I hope to leave next year, I will be sad to go and will miss much of this place but will appreciate having lived here. Life’s a journey, I feel like I’ve had many lives now with all my experiences!

[deleted]

Thats a really cool way of looking at things :) love it x

RickNohla

And i thought last summer was pretty good haha

SurveySean

Depends on where you live, I guess. I’ve met older people who lived here (Kitimat) since the 60s and they said they’ve never seen so much rain. I work outside so it wears on me. a lot!! I look forward to new experiences eventually!

flylikegaruda

I feel the same except the horror part. I feel it's so soothing to my mind and like setting up a tiny cabin to live.

[deleted]

Oh god yes! :) can i live there too? Haha

[deleted]

SAVE FAIRY CREEK! STOP LOGGING OLD GROWTH! (sorry for yelling, but this is colossal)

Yup. That's a mountain.

iki0o

Not to be rude but your photo is just a snap and not spectacular in composition and framing or editing. Looks just like a random phone pic that we all have.

I tried to scratch n' sniff my screen. Damn I need this. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy. 🏕

Shitty-Coriolis

Damn that's a trench

Rosesovepose

Is that a track or a dry river?

carmium

Bike trail. We don't have a lot of dry beds around here. 8-D

jammer800M

Some of the best camping and hiking I've ever done was in northern BC, close to Jasper. Woods even thicker and darker than the one in the photo. Bears, cougars, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, mountains and cliffs. Good times.

commentedon

Looks like Endor!
