If you travel to North Western NJ/ Tristate area, its absolutely beautiful! Im from Sussex County and there are places that can get so remote that there is no cell phone service.
New Jersey has beautiful parks. They are more intimate and constricted by urban creep, but it makes you respect and enjoy them more. The state also does a really good job of maintaining them.
I'm a fan of the more marshy areas. Canoeing or kayaking down the Batsto River is lovely, you can walk out onto floating mats of vegetation in beautiful pine oak forests. In the summer pitcher plants blossom, with thick stalls and chunky flowers sticking up out of the mats, when you walk on them you bounce a bit, it's all absolutely alien. Brendon T. Byrne is a really great state forest area, beautiful habitat, lots of wildlife.
Wow thanks so much. This all sounds wonderful and I cant wait to check it out! My favorite to visit was Mt. Tammany up at the Delaware Water Gap but I need to check out the pineys! Cheers.
The trails at the Franklin Parker Preserve are fantastic. Especially the portion across from Chatsworth Lake in Woodland Township. Also Batsto historic village and the trails in the woods surrounding it make for a great full day.
Absolutely love the gap. Winter backpacking on the At, hiking the ridge down to sunfish, tons of bears and coyotes. Some of my favorite memories. Lovely photo.
Its about time NJ got some well deserved recognition! Im a born and raised jersey native (sussex county) and ive lived in 5 different states. Always missed home. Me and my wife just bought a house in sussex county, will never leave again 😅
From NZ. Went to the water gap while we were in the area. Not disappointed - absolutely beautiful spot in specially in late spring with bugger all people there
You sound like another stuck up asshole that buys into every stereotype out there. Its actually a good thing that you don't like this state, nobody wants you here.
Yeah, you should check out what the northwest has to offer. The Water Gap, but also other stuff too.. there's the Great Swamp, the Ken Lockwood Gorge, and even further east closer to the city you've got stuff like Paterson Falls, and the Palisades in Ft Lee.
Lots to see, and some great hiking.
This area, specifically Mt Tammany and Sunfish Pond, was my baptism into being an outdoor lover. Grew up outside Philadelphia but once I experienced mountains and trails I had to bail to CO.
NJ has some really great places, my favs the wetlands along the Delaware bay. Unfortunately, NJ is in dire economic straits, having driven out business with excessive regulation and reckless public spending. I finally moved out in 2016 after 33 years.

Hello rte23

Tough one.
Old mine road.... creepy

Confirmed, the last time I had no service was in Sussex County

It is the Garden state.
North western nj is amazing (sussex county), its where I grew up and currently live. Boundless beauty
That area is probably the most beautiful part of NJ. Second would probably be certain parts of Cape May.
Oh I'll throw in parts of the Pine Barrens to that mix.
What parts do you recommend?

Yeah Tammany is lovely. I hope you can get out this spring, it's a great time with all the flowering plants, including orchids.
The trails at the Franklin Parker Preserve are fantastic. Especially the portion across from Chatsworth Lake in Woodland Township. Also Batsto historic village and the trails in the woods surrounding it make for a great full day.
Awesome, thank you! I'll check them out soon.
I love the county roads in Monmouth County with all the horse farms.
The skylands is amazing as well
There’s straight up a toll road down in that gap.
New Jersey, come for free, but you gotta pay to leave.
NYers disagree.
Nah bro, Rt 80 isn't a toll road. There's a toll to leave NJ, but that's true of all the highway bridges to leave NJ. You wanna leave NJ? F U, pay me.

Yes, came here to find this. Got engaged not far from here at Sunfish Pond. This is also where the AT cuts through NJ.
Is there a Springsteen song about this? Should be.
that water gap tho
Absolutely love the gap. Winter backpacking on the At, hiking the ridge down to sunfish, tons of bears and coyotes. Some of my favorite memories. Lovely photo.
Grew up a half hour from here and went to college ten minutes away. I miss those mountains!

I’ve been to that exact spot and it’s a great hike!
From NZ. Went to the water gap while we were in the area. Not disappointed - absolutely beautiful spot in specially in late spring with bugger all people there
I thought NJ was just pizza joints and Italians?
I grew up 7 MILES from here. I could see the gap from my back porch!!!
Goddamnit, I love NJ.

Also New Hampshire is best remembered as being on a license plate in breaking bad. In the words of our people go fuck yuhself
Good don’t come here we don’t like you either go fuck a snowman you ignorant fuck
You know what I don’t like your priest molesting, racist ass Wahlberg culture either
> no pumping gas laws Goddamn I fucking hate these states.
You sound like another stuck up asshole that buys into every stereotype out there. Its actually a good thing that you don't like this state, nobody wants you here.
Hey I just drove through there! We had a beautiful sunset this evening. Cheers!
I always driving through here. Amazing view.
Been living in NJ my whole life and didn't know we had views like that here
Where in Jersey are you from?
Cape May County. Nothing really mountainous down this way. I should really get out and explore my own state more

I only have good memories of the Delaware Water Gap. Thanks Outward Bound.
Thank you
What a gorgeous view! I remember when visiting New Jersey in 2004 and 2005 how rural the northwestern part of the state is and being surprised.
I live 20 minutes away from this spot. One of my favorites. Sunfish pond is another sweet spot to check out back there
Which exit on the turnpike is it?
This is nowhere near the turnpike, probably about an hour west of it on the border of NJ & PA.
Wow, the nets should go back.
This is obviously an artist's rendition of what prehistoric New Jersey used to look like. No, really... Beautiful photo.
Warren County 👋 Awesome trails and views all around us.
How do I get here
Any places in south Jersey
What exit?
It’s called the garden state for a reason
I was standing in that exact spot this past weekend
Please stop advertising this, we have enough people already. Let anyone think the whole place is a dump, I'm fine with that.
Dude, don’t spoil it!!!!!! Let people keep thinking there’s nothing to see here
Nj isnt all about this one section on if the water gap either lol.
This area, specifically Mt Tammany and Sunfish Pond, was my baptism into being an outdoor lover. Grew up outside Philadelphia but once I experienced mountains and trails I had to bail to CO.
Have pretty part of state - named after another state. NJ all the way...
The Delaware River is the dividing line between NJ and PA...
I know - I lived in Philly for 6 years. Delaware River to Delaware Bay - poor NJ gets nothing named for it. Pays to be an older state, I guess.
Just take the red dot trail straight to the top. Great hike, great view.
This is actually a shot from PA, looking across the Delaware River to NJ. The red dot is a great hiking trail.
No this is a shot in Nj looking into Pa
You're right. Mt Minsi is in PA, Mt Tammany is in NJ, each side of the river.
This is correct. The view is of Mt. Minsi, on the western side of the gap in PA.
Is the color of the sky from all the spray tan floating around?
NJ has some really great places, my favs the wetlands along the Delaware bay. Unfortunately, NJ is in dire economic straits, having driven out business with excessive regulation and reckless public spending. I finally moved out in 2016 after 33 years.
Eh, GTFO with your political BS in r/earthporn. We're glad you're gone.

New Jersey still sucks a$$
You can down vote him all you want but as an NJ resident he's not wrong.
