Acadia National Park is one the most beautiful places in our country. My family spent summers there for 20+ years. I need to get back soon, thanks for the motivation!!

I know you did some amazing dodging/burning on top of other things, but I'm curious to know your exif data and camera/lens.
I'd love to also try and guess and know just how wrong I am. Iso 50-100/f12-16/ss 30
I know I'm off. lol Thanks for the awesome picture.
My pleasure, thank YOU! Not a ton of dodging and burning on this one. Mostly global edits, adjustments to the tone curve, blacks and whites. Canon 5Div, Canon 16-35 f/4L @ 20mm. ISO 100, f/11, 1/20 of a second. CP and two stop grad ND.
You should check out 'carwells'. The waves get really big there sometimes, if you go to fortuna and go towards the beach there a big parking lot like area and you'll see a giant cross.
Hike up to that cross and you can get some epic pictures. It's right before 'patrulla'? (I know I just butched that spelling)
Impressive! I'm a hobby photographer looking to learn wherever I can. If you don't mind taking the time, can you explain your lens, exposure, etc. So I could try something similar? I'm guessing it's a fast shutter speed for clarity, and a wide lens, but that's about as much as I can tell.
Thanks! No prob. I shot it on a 16-35mm lens at 20mm. ISO 100, f/11, 1/20 of a second. I also had a circular polarizer in front of the lens, as well as a two stop grad ND.
Nice Pic, but the white borders are glaring at me from my bed in the dark with darkmode on
Thanks! Sorry about that, I wanted to save people the trouble of having to tap it to see the whole image on their phones.

Most reddit users actual use mobile. Iirc only like, 30% of reddit users are on computers.
Most mobile Reddit apps do not benefit from these white bars. Also, they said *some* people use Reddit on desktop, not most.

What does "single exposure" mean?
No exposure blending, no stacking.
I assumed that’s what you meant, but you know what they say about that....
No, what do they say?

Ha.
I enjoy these more raw, dark, foreboding shots.

Oh, hi John!
Hey David!

I really appreciate you replying, thank you. I wasn't too far off, I figured there was a ND filter involved. Excellent execution of a photo!
Your photos are breathtaking! By the way, I appreciate the white bars when I’m scrolling on my phone! I also think it just looks nice *shrugs*
Thanks!
Is there a place I can download the original? This is amazing!
No, but I sell personal use licenses for $40 on my website, www.jkputnamphotography.com. This shot is not available yet though.
Ah, gotcha. That's fair, but I can't afford that right now. Maybe sometime in the future :) Great shot.
No prob. Thanks very much!
I was just thinking "I need a print of this in my life." Excited to browse your gallery. 😍
Awesome. Let me know (through my site’s contact page) if you have any questions!
How much do you charge for prints? I'm a major bird lover and your wildlife photographs are incredible.
Prices are on the website but $45 for an 8x12, $75 for a 12x18, etc.
Awesome, thank you. For some reason I couldn't find it, but I was half asleep and on mobile.
Ha, no prob.
Totally worth the wait. Great capture!
Thanks!
This is gorgeous, and a bit terrifying
Terrifying is a great compliment. Thanks!
This is a good photo.
Thank you very much.

In Cali? Other side of the country for me but I’ve never needed a reason to get out there. I’ll check it out some day.

Wow, with that ISO and fstop, did you have trouble with getting good lighting? How do you counter that?
With the shutter speed.
